A chaetiliid isopod, Symmius caudatus Richardson, 1904 is newly recorded from Korea with detailed description and illustrations. This species is characterized by the following features: head has well-defined ocular lobes anteriorly projecting; all pereonites do not have any projections dorsally; maxillule has 2 long plumose and 1 short denticulate setae on inner lobe; propodus of pereopod 1 has 11 stout circumplumose setae on ventral margin in female; and pereopod 7 is ambulatory. In this paper, we present the descriptions and illustrations of mature and juvenile males, which have not been known from previous studies, as well as those of female. We also suggested a revised diagnosis of the genus Symmius.
The present study proposes a model for literature-based instruction within the context of a fashion design curriculum at a Korean university. The fashion design market continues to grow. The fashion design market now requires more cultural-bound strategies and efficient communication skills. The literature provides authentic resources and is highly relevant to the development of students' culture awareness as well as language awareness. Alice's Adventures in Wonderland written by Lewis Carroll contains various cultural contexts of the Victorian Era. The text provides explicit knowledge of the era depicted in both illustrations and satire languages. This study instructs students to analyze and interpret texts and illustrations so that they can engage critically and analytically in reading text to increase culture awareness and language awareness. The integration of literature and fashion design can provide students an opportunity to explore language choice and acquire refined knowledge of the target culture. Along with the text, illustrations in the literature provoke student's imaginative and creative thinking skills. Students can think and discuss many issues that deal with Victorian values and reinforce creative thinking skills. In the final stage, students can design fashion inspired by Victorian values and present their own designs using the acquired languages. This eventually leads students to adapt to a new notion for the fashion market and become competent communicators in the fashion world.
The purpose of this study was to examine whether or not they have been revised corresponding to the purpose of revision by making a comparative analysis of the content and illustration in the 6th and 7th primary science textbooks. The analysis of content was composed of knowledge, inquiry process and attitude. The analysis of illustrations was composed of the kinds of illustrations and the role of illustrations. The findings of this research were as follows: First, as a result of content analysis of the primary science textbooks in the 6th and the 7th national curriculum, the ratio of inquiry process showed the highest frequency, next knowledge and lastly scientific attitude. And the 7th textbooks are greatly emphasized knowledge and science attitude. Second, as a results of the illustration analysis are as follows: There are conspicuous differences in that the illustration number of the 7th science textbooks Is about twice the illustration number of the 6th science textbooks and next, they place more weights on pictures and comics hard to discovery in the 6th science textbooks. Therefore, they have tried to induce the interests of students and heighten their understanding by supplementing the role of illustration presented as picture-centered and increasing its number presented as picture. In the results, although they have improved the problems of the 6th national curriculum a lot through the innovation including the interest induction of pupils through comics, the development of its content presentation method, the gradual change of subject number and the cultivation of curriculum according to the level of enrichment and supplementing types, the 7th science textbooks have fallen short of 6.3%, not around 30% in terms of the reduction in the 7th national curriculum. Accordingly, the 7th science textbooks also can be pointed out to have the problems of too much amount of studying compared to the time per week like the 6th science textbooks.
The subject of study is about the illustrations of the round collar Po(袍類) in the Akhak-gwebeom(樂學軌範) which was published in 1493. These illustrations are painted records of what musicians and dancers in the palace were wearing during performances. While each illustration of the Po is similar in that they all have round collars, each has a different name Sam(衫), Ui(衣), Dallyeong(團領) and formative characteristics, and these features were analyze in the study. Sam refers to the Gongbok(公服) as it has long and big sized sleeves, Ui is the word used to represent the basic unit of outerwear, and Dallyeong is believed to refer to the Sibok(時服) and Sangbok(常服). In the formative aspects, Sam's auxiliary sleeve is one of the ways wearing the sleeve of innerwear shown outward and it's assumed to have been produced for visually matching the formal look as well as the convenience free to use of hands. The Mu of Dan-ui(丹衣) is less than the number of the excavated artifacts, it produced in a relatively simplified form. Also, illustration of Dallyeong corresponds to the artifacts and configuration of the 15th to 16th centuries, the costume culture of that time seems to be reflected specifically. While Hyungbae(胸背) used in the form of rectangles and circles such as petals. it tried to represent the country at the official event by borrowing the upper class in the costume that musicians and dancers wear, also showed the rank and social status symbolically by having the differences in the shape and pattern. While the costume culture at the time is reflected, it can be found that the objective of raising the country's dignity is implied by transforming the detailed structure for the practicality, borrowing the costume elements of the high social status and transformed them.

Hypertension is prevalent among older adults, and nutrition is important for hypertension management. However, there are few nutrition education materials developed for older adults. The purpose of this study was to develop a booklet for prevention and management of hypertension for older adults. Based on lesson plans, topics for the booklet included introduction to hypertension, hypertension prevention through weight management, nutritional management of hypertension, and lifestyle modifications. After several revisions of the draft were made, illustrations and icons appropriate to the text were designed by a graphic designer using Illustrator 9.0 and Photoshop 6.0. The booklet consisted of four chapters and 40 pages. The first chapter dealt with information on hypertension, risk factors, complications and dietary guidelines. These were mainly explained by illustrations and characters of older adults. The second chapter included assessment of obesity, reducing fat intake and behavioral change strategies. The third chapter focused on practical tips for reducing salt, eating more fiber and calcium, and sample menus. The fourth chapter presented information for quitting smoking and drinking, and stress management. Finally, games, meal planning and quizes, were presented as reinforcement. Based on pilot testing with 10 adults aged 50 and older, minor changes were made in wording, expressions and information. This booklet is characterized by using simple and specific messages, providing tips for dietary and lifestyle changes, and using illustrations and characters of older adults to increase understanding. The revised booklet is self-explanatory and can be used by older adults or in nutrition education for older adults.

The research method of this study are as follows: First, the teaching materials on fashion illustration in Korea were researched to examine the current state of publication. Second, its contents were analyzed to identify its characteristics. Third, an improvement plan of educational materials on fashion illustration in Korea were proposed. As for the scope of study, 18 volumes of fashion illustration teaching materials published in Korea during 2004-2014 were targeted. It should be noted that translated publications, digital fashion illustration materials and teaching materials for specialized and professional organizations were excluded. Conclusions of this study are as follows: First, examination of the textbooks revealed that additional content is needed regarding theoretical understanding of fashion illustration, as well as illustrations of men and children, as there was an insufficient amount of those topics. Second, the contents on the illustration application using current trends were lacking in the unit on illustration application. Accordingly, it is necessary to develop contents that reflect these trends. Lastly, the textbooks should be packaged with compact discs CDs containing video clips to assist students to get a better grasp of the material. The result of this study can be used to develop new teaching materials on fashion illustration, and be utilized as basic information in the curriculum design of fashion illustration.
This study analyzed the illustrations presented in the elementary science paper textbooks and digital textbooks under the 2015 revised curriculum in terms of gender role stereotypes. The frequency of pupils and adults on illustrations was counted by gender, and the types of activities and behavior of characters were analyzed. For pupils, paper textbooks showed a higher frequency of girls than boys, and digital textbooks showed similar gender rates. In the aspect of the activity, paper textbooks showed similar gender rates in non-learning activities, but more girls in learning activities. In digital textbooks, the learning activity was balanced by gender, but the non-learning activities presented boys more frequently. For both paper and digital textbooks, most pupils were described to be active regardless of gender. For adults, paper textbooks were balanced in the frequency by gender, but digital textbooks had a higher proportion of men. Paper textbooks showed similar gender rates in out-of-home activities, but more men in housework activities. In digital textbooks, housework activities were balanced by gender, but out-of-home activities presented men more frequently. For both paper and digital textbooks, men appeared in a broader range of occupations than women. Female scientists appeared more than male scientists in paper textbooks, and opposite tendency appeared in digital textbooks. The purpose of this study is to apply the characteristics of David Hockney's paintings to fashion illustration and thereby, review how pure art can be harmoniously grafted onto fashion commodities and thereupon, suggest a far more developed and unique fashion illustration. For the research, this study analyzed David Hockney's late painting works, after the 1980s; the analysis was focused on photo collages, multiple perspectives, the movement of the viewpoint, and lights and colors. In order to produce an artwork, the researcher selected 4 painting works; one work for decade for the period from the 1980s to the 2010s. This study selected 'shoes' as subjects for expression in an effort to depart from the convention approach of focusing on apparel and thereby, suggest some differentiated fashion illustrations. In terms of the artwork production size, four canvases #5 were combined into a set, and thus, a total of four sets were developed. The results are as follows. First, it was very interesting to develop a fashion illustration making use of David Hockney's paintings, and it was proven that the fashion illustration applying the sensitivity of the pure art would provide a unique sense of art. Secondly, as the boundary among disciplines becomes blurred, painting provides a new source of insights and motifs to the diverse design areas to satisfy diversified human needs, and furthermore, the development and diversified application of the fashion illustrations could be confirmed. Thirdly, David Hockney's differentiated world of art, technique of expression and sensitive colors could well be applied to fashion illustrations. This study proves that we fashion artists can depart from the conventional expressions focused on the apparel to expand the fashion illustration into lady's high heels.
