Patients from the coronary care unit had a significantly higher level of anxiety than those from surgical intensive care unit or pulmonary surgery care unit. Moreover, significantly different levels of anxiety were found among patients who had been stayed for 2, 3, or 4 days. Conclusion: Patients who were from the coronary care unit or had been stayed longer (up to 4 days) in the ICU were significantly associated with higher anxiety level.
We experienced two cases of Tsutsugamushi disease which occurred in October, 2000. The patients, who were over 70 years old and living in a rural area, visited Wonkwang University Oriental Chonju Medicine Hospital because of suffering fever, chill, skin rash, abdominal discomfort, and general weakness for a duration of seven days. The diagnosis was confmned as Tsutsugamushi disease by clinical findings such as eschar and high antibody titers on Reverse Passive Hemagglutination(RPHA). As for treatment, we used Sengmagalgentang-gamibang during the acute and Chojungikitang during convalescent phases of the illness. The patients were treated with Doxycycline of western medicine. The patients improved within 3 days of admission and were discharged within one week.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to understand the meanings and nature of ICU admission experienced among patients with critical illness. The present study adopted a hermeneutic phenomenological method which was developed by van Manen. Methods: The participants for this study were 6 men and 3 women, who were over the age of 20 with ICU admission period more than 3 days. Data were collected by using in-depth interviews and observations from March, 2007 to September, 2007. The contents of the interviews were tape-recorded with the consent of the subject. Results: The essential themes that fit into the context of the 4 existential grounds of body, time, space and other people were as follows: a body that cannot react the way it wants, a wave of fear and insecurity everywhere, a struggle to survive, coming out from death's door, loss of time path, a long and continued waiting until escaping, more of machinery room than a patient's room, existence of life and death, an abyss of suffering seen thru another patient, taken care of by a doctor, trust and distrust, family, the ultimate safe zone. Conclusion: Critically ill patients in ICU experienced feelings of discomfort, unsafety, and insecurity. The result of this study can give nurses some insight into these experiences and help promote empathetic care.

Objectives: As of March 3, 2020, the Shincheonji religious group accounted for the majority of Korean cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). Nonetheless, the most likely cause of the broad spread of COVID-19 among members of the Shincheonji religious group remains largely unknown. Methods: We obtained data of laboratory-confirmed cases related to the Shincheonji religious group from press releases by Korean public health authorities and news reports. We measured the period from the date of illness onset to the date of COVID-19 confirmation. Results: We analysed data from 59 cases (median age, 30 years). The estimated median period between the date of symptom onset and the date of COVID-19 confirmation was 4 days (95% confidence interval, 1-12). Conclusions: There was a delay in COVID-19 confirmation from the date of illness onset among the cases linked to the Shincheonji religious group. This delay likely contributed to the occurrence of many cases of COVID-19 in the group.

The research was done through surveys for the people in the Seoul Metropolitan area. 232 out of 250 answers were used in analyzing frequency, factor, $x^2$-test, and t-test through SPSS Win 12.0. There are three main factors of food safety in food business. The first is food borne illness(65.9%), the second is trans-fat(63.4%), and the third is remained agrichemicals(58.5%). Basically, women consider food safety more seriously than men do, and married women than unmarried women. Women were unsatisfied with the government's regulations than men were, married women than unmarried women. Women more consider awareness of food safety than men do, married women than unmarried women. Overall, unmarried women worried about their eating stuff seriously than any other group does. People consider food safety first, more and more these days, therefore, we need special management programs and regulations to focus on food safety and to support many studies about food safety.

Purpose : To determine the differences in clinical characteristics, blood chemistry and coronary artery complications between patients with Kawasaki disease who received intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) within the fourth day of illness and after the fifth day of illness. Methods : A retrospective chart review was conducted of all children with Kawasaki disease who were admitted to Ewha Mokdong Hospital between January 2001 and June 2002. The early treatment group received IVIG within the fourth day of illness(n=34) and the control group received IVIG after the fifth day of illness(n=53). Clinical manifestations, fever duration, hospitalization days, CBC, blood chemistry and coronary artery complications were compared between two groups. Results : No demographic differences were noted between the two groups(P>0.05). Total duration of fever was significantly shorter in the early treatment group than the control group($4.8{\pm}2.5days$ vs $7.4{\pm}3.0days$, P<0.05), but there were no differences in fever duration after IVIG treatment and hospitalization days between two groups(P>0.05). No significant differences were noted in the level of hemoglobin, WBC, ESR, CRP, AST, ALT and albumin between two groups(P>0.05). No significant differences in the incidence of IVIG retreatment were noted between the two groups(11.8% vs 5.7%, P>0.05). No significant differences in the incidence of coronary artery complications were noted between the two groups(11.7% vs 18.9%, P>0.05). No significant differences in the recurrence rate were noted between the two groups(3% vs 2%, P>0.05). Conclusion : Early IVIG treatment in patients with Kawasaki disease reduces the total fever duration. Coronary artery complications were not increased in patients with early IVIG treatment.
Parental leave in Sweden is a part of the health insurance in national social insurance system. It has two kinds of benefits. One is parental cash benefit paid for both husband and wife on the occasion of child birth, currently 450days for each child. The other is temporary parental cash benefit when a child under the age of twelve or a caretaker for him is illness, which is six months for a child a year. Parental insurance in Sweden permits parents to take care of their children just after birth at home with the amount of 80% of monthly income for 360 days and 60 Swedish krone each day for 90 days more. It also permits parents with children under the age of eight of part-time work and return to former job at full-time base when they want. It consequently entourage women's economic activity in her whole life and contributes to promotion of equality in sex roles between husband and wife. This insurance scheme is beneficient in that it enhances individual and family welfare and also secures labour force. This case study on Swedish parental insurance offers implication how to resolve the conflict between women's increased demand for economic activity and maternal role.
Choosing an auspicious day originated from cosmobiological concepts which were prevalent in traditional society. This method was devised to minimize the damage and maximize the effect of acupuncture and moxibustion. It is found in most of Asian traditional medicine and still regarded as important in Tibet. In Korea, historical records show that various rules were applied to make certain pills, enhance physical condition, avoid illness and to get medical care. Strict rules were also applied to avoid inauspicious days when using acupuncture and moxibustion. But this tradition lost chance of proper evaluation due to involuntary and rapid westernization. Chimgutaekilpyonjip was published in early Chosun dynasty collecting almost all existing methods from the Huangdineijing to Sung-Chin-Yuan medicine. DonguiBogam Yirimchalyo and Chimgukyunghumbang succeeded these methods in separate ways. But they are similar at particular points. In many clinical cases of Seungjeongwonilgi, most methods written in DonguiBogam were used to choose auspicious days, In this study, the characteristic of Chimgutaekilpyonjip and other medical texts of Chosun are compared by analyzing the contents regarding choosing an auspicious day. Secondly, clinical records of Seungjeongwonilgi are examined to assess their practical use. Studying and evaluating the past theories could help accelerate the procedure of setting a proper standard in our times.
