The Classification of Fashion Frame and Fashion Image of Korean Women in their Twenties and Thirties (한국 20~30대 여성의 패션 프레임과 패션이미지 유형화)

  • The purpose of this study is to take a look at the fashion frame of Korean women in their twenties and thirties to sort the actual fashion image and the ideal fashion image according to the fashion frame of Korean women in their twenties and thirties, and also to find out the standards and features that divide such a classification. For this study, we used the Q method, which is valued as an effective way to assess subjectivity. This helps to objectively classify the perception the fashion images of and the response to them as well. The analyzed materials were divided into two actual fashion frames and two ideal fashion frames, and classified them into 12 fashion image types in total, that is, six actual fashion images and six ideal fashion images, and we named each type of the fashion images and analyzed the features of each fashion image type through the in-depth Q workshop in which 14 professionals participated. The results of this study are as follows: First, the actual fashion frames of Korean women in their twenties and thirties was largely divided into 'Fashion Gold Girl', the fashion frame of mainstream and 'Indi-idol', the fashion frame of subcultures, and this was further divided into six fashion image types: 'Basic Casual', 'Vintage Performer', 'Easy Chic', 'Ladies' Look', 'City Office Girl' and 'Club Mania'. Second, the ideal fashion frame of Korean women in their twenties and thirties was divided into 'Urban Refinement', the fashion frame of the mainstream and 'Mismatched Style', the fashion frame of subcultures. It was also divided into six fashion image types: Power Fashion', 'Fashion Conservative', 'Semi-culture', 'Fashion Otaku', 'Sweet Darling' and 'Fashion Panic'. Third, The characteristics of the fashion images' colors are recognizable according to the type of fashion images.

  • The aim of this essay is to illustrate Sunjung Manhwa in the 1970s which has been alienated in comics studies. This essay analyses the articles and the serial comics in Schoolgirl, the magazine in the 1970s, and examines the ideal representations of the girls at that time. Sunjung Manhwa is really different between the 1960s and 1970s. It cannot be explained on this gap just by analyzing Sunjung Manhwa in book form alone. Even though the censorship on comics was the element that has hampered the development of comics as a whole, the slumps of Sunjung Manhwa in the 1970s were very excessive compared to other comics genres. This article can gain the answers to the reason of the changes of Sunjung Manhwa by studying the magazines which was the main mass media aimed at girls with Sunjung Manhwa. While the articles in magazines show the editing direction and its characteristics, they reflect the values and ideologies at that time. The same is true for the comics in the magazines. Especially, the comics in the magazines was relatively free from the censorship. This essay examined how the articles and the comics in the girls' magazine in the 1970s represented the images of girls at the time by focusing on feature articles and comics in the magazine, Schoolgirl. This article explored Um, Hee-Ja's Blue Zone and Bang, Young-Jin's Mini March among a full-length serial comics in the magazine, Schoolgirl. Both Blue Zone and Mini March reveal the images of an ideal girl that has been emphasized by the articles in Schoolgirl. Blue Zone draws the appearances of an earnest and obedient daughter, and Mini March represents the figures of a cheerful and bright girl. Through this study, it can be recognized that the magazines in the 1970s highly appraised girls who are obedient to a given society and serve to a harmonious family as ideal ones, and it might be guessed that the ideal images of girls that was characterized ceaselessly by the magazines were the standard of the censorship on comics and its creativity and had also a huge impact on the contents and the expressions of a great deal of works. The 1970s was the times when its importance has been lost in the history of the comics studies by the censorship on the comics and the monopoly of "Hapdong(합동) publisher." The limits of expression in terms of censorship were awfully distinct, so its result was few of good works in quality, and there are still many blanks in the study on 1970s' comics. This study has a meaning which fills up a blank in the comics studies.

  • The purpose of this study attempts to analyze the symbolism and fashion image of Barbie doll. It is scarcely a coincidence that the Barbie doll was developed in the united States in 1950s. She had been created in the 1950s as a cartoon character in a German newspaper, who named Bild Lilli. In 1959, toy company bought the rights and produced and almost identical doll in the United States. Therefore Barbie has symbolized the consumer culture of United States, ideal body image, and modern youth culture. It may be as a conclusion that Barbie's fashion can be divided into three period : 1. a period of classic fashion(1959-66), 2. a period of young casual fashion(1967-79), 3. a period of ethnic and career fashion. Just as Barbie's roles and clothes have changed with the spirit of the times, she is a valuable representation of female images and fashion over the last 40 years. Barbie's fashion image is divided into material girl image, dream girl image, and bad girl image.

A Study on Eating Habits and Food Preference of Rural Elementary School Students (농촌초등학생의 식습관 및 식품기호에 관한 연구)

  • This study was undertaken to assess eating habits of 230 rural elementary school students living in ChunNam province. Anthropometric data showed that their mean height of girl students was significantly higher than that of boy students. Irregular eating pattern of girl students was noted. There was a significant difference in concerning on weight control between girls and boys. Girls especially view themselves as too obese even though their weight was in normal range and they were more concerned on weight control due to appearance. Nutrition education at school was an important factor ruling out peaky eating habits in participants. More effective nutrition education might be suggested to form a good eating habit which result in maintenance of ideal weight and promote health for rural elementary school students.

A Study on the Narrative of Female Growth in the Film House of Hummingbird (영화 <벌새>의 여성 성장 서사 연구)

  • The film House of Hummingbird intersects Korean modern history and personal history through the eyes of a teenage girl, and closely explores how patriarchy and Korean capitalism leave traces and internal impressions on the growing up of the female subject. This film is a meaningful text in terms of showing what changes can occur when the subject is transformed from a boy to a girl in the narrative of growth and when a feminist point of view is entered. House of Hummingbird reveals the weakness of the patriarchal symbolic order through the gaze of a teenage girl in the episodic narrative composition, and also discovers the possibility of close relationships and bonds between women in the gaps. In particular, Yeong-ji, the main character girl Eun-hee's Chinese language school lecturer, is a new female character that has never been seen in Korean teenage films. As a result, in House of Hummingbird, we meet a new female subject who negotiates the pain of growth in a 'good enough' condition.

Factors Relating to Social Physique Anxiety in Adolescent Girls (청소년기 여학생의 사회적 체격불안 관련 요인)

  • Purpose: This descriptive study was to explore the factors relating to Social Physique Anxiety(SPA) in the adolescent girls(N=700). These factors included the biological(level of school[age], period of menstruation, and BMI), the sociocultural(Influence of Mass Media, [IMM], Stereotype of Ideal Female Body[SIFB], type of school, perceived figure, and ideal figure) and the BW control-related factors(experience of bodyweight [BW] control, satisfaction at the result of BW control, and motive of BW control). Method: The sample was 700 girls of the middle and high schools in Jeju-do. The data was collected by the self-reported questionnaire and processed with the SPSS Win 12.0 program. Result: 26% of the variance in SPA was explained by the biological factors(level of school) and the sociocultural factors (perceived figure, ideal figure, type of school, and IMM). SPA, IMM, and SIFB were significantly correlated with each others(r=1,65-2.92, p<.05). The mean SPA scores according to BW control-related factors were significantly different. Conclusion: This results suggest that media education is necessary to reduce or eliminate the adolescent girl's SPA. In addition, SPA needs to be considered as the important concept for the future nursing researches and interventions related to BW control.

  • This study developed basic pattern for competition figure skating wear for school girls. Figure skating wears are difficult for making basic patterns based on standard size chart, because girls' body size are slimmer and more slender compared to the general girl's and the competition wears such as, swim suit with sleeves are, closely in contact with the player's body. The competition wears for school girl was made with consideration of changing of the body shape, physical exercises, and various specificities according to stretch material. To raise artistic effect while doing beautiful motions, and to assist in facile technique motions, competition wears need to have enough ease on the side line from waist to armpit, from armpit to wrist, and in trunk girth including crotch girth. Also, to stand out in beauty, a costume designing has a proper skirt position, length, flare width, and a tight bodice according to the player's body proportion. Most of the customers are displeased at the high price, unfitness of size, insufficient design, and difficulty in access, since they are not sold in sporting goods store. Therefore, a competition wear's basic pattern was made through scientific and emotional process including concerns on material properties, room for activities, and ideal body proportion. Systemizing the basic patterns of production method will solve high repairing expenses, unsuitable sizing, and improve accessibility for purchase.

An Empirical Analysis of Sexual Awareness in Urban and Rural High School Girls (여자고등학생의 성 인지에 관한 도ㆍ농간 실태분석 -전남지역을 중심으로-)

  • This study examines the different degrees of sexual awareness shown among high school girls in urban and rural areas. The analysis was carried out by dividing these students into urban and rural groups. A questionnaire of 51 questions based on previous studies and a review of the literature was prepared for students in the two groups after two preliminary surveys, a reliability test, and correlation. There were 721 copies of the questionnaire in total which were distributed to students of 2 urban and 4 rural girls' high schools. The analysis of the results was carried out using by means of SPSS 10.0, and it became clear that girl's students' viewpoints toward sex, the actual circumstances of their acquaintance of the opposite sex, the access to information about sex, the content of current sex education at school and the ideal type of sex education, tended to show differences between the two groups. This study showed that the standardized and uniform content and methods of current sex education in public schools does not work properly. Sex education at schools in South Korea has reached a limit of their effectiveness to a point where research into more effective sex education is required.

The Americanization of a Canadian National Icon Anne of Green Gables (캐나다의 국가적 아이콘 『빨강머리 앤』의 미국화)

  • L.M. Montgomery's Anne of Green Gables is not only confidently labelled a Canadian classic but also placed as a national icon along with the moose, the beaver, and the Habs in Canada. Anne's 'Canadianness' is partly due to its location in the rural world of Prince Edward Island. The fictional Avonlea is described as the ideal space where Canadian spirit can interact with the personified surrounding landscapes through Celtic imagination. Additionally, the communal bond of Avonlea fully demonstrates Scottish Canadian identities. The Scottish national character of Avonlea is responsible for clannishness of the Cuthberts and the Lyndes. The disrespect to the French is also due to Scottish heritage in Avonlea. As an outsider Anne wants to be integrated into the community of Avonlea, and successfully adapts herself to the regional shared values. Meanwhile she partly challenges the strictness and rigidness of the born Canadian Avonlea residents. Despite its Canadian origin, Anne of Green Gables is accepted as part of the American canon of children's literature in the Unite States. The configuration of Anne as an American heroine is noticeable among American scholars: by relocating it to the US the female Bildungsroman in the nineteenth century America, a group of literary critics adapt Anne as an American girl for American readers. The heroine of Anne of Green Gables is linked to American novels such as Louisa May Alcott's Little Women, Kate Douglas Wiggin's Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm and Gene Stratten Porter's A Girl of the Limberlost. Anne is even classified as another Caddie by American literary critics: Anne is placed at the center of Caddie Woodlawn Syndrome as another Wisconsin pioneer child. Canadian identity of Anne is intentionally excluded and Anne was reborn as an American girl in the U.S. In this context, Anne functions as a sign of nation and a site for cross-national identity formation.

  • We have effectually treated 22 years girl who had complained of an aterior open-bite. Treatment was based on non-extracted and multibanded technigue at the use of horizontal loop with 0.016 inch green Elgiloy wire. Anteior cross elastics, C1Ⅲ intermaxillary elastics, occasicnally C1.Ⅱ elastics were used. when vertical discrepancy was corrected, we changed the arch wire making use of 0.018 ×0.022 inch rectangular wire with 1st. and 2nd. order bend. After 12mons. the ideal arch wire with tie back loop was placed for stabilizing arch. Nearly after 20 months bands were removed and placed retainer.
