Clinical experience of 21 patients with infective endocarditis was reviewed. Endocarditis involved the left-sided valve in 16 cases, the right-sided valve in 2, and PDA in the remaining 3 patients. Valve abnormalities included leaflet perforation in 9 patients, chordal rupture in 2,; annular abscess in 6; and aorticoleft atnal perforation in 2. Sixteen patients underwent valve replacement[aortic valve replacement in 7 patients, mitral replacement in 4 and double valve replacement in 5], two had VSD closure with pulmonary valve excision, three had ductus arteriousus closure. The patients were classified into two groups. I ] Healed endocarditis group: including the patients who had completed a planned cou-rseof antibiotic therapy[N=10], II ] Active endocarditis group: patients in which operations were performed prior to completetion of antibiotic treatment course[N=11]. The indications for operation included congestive heart failure, embolism, and persistent sepsis. Organisms were predominantly streptococcus[N=5] and staphylococcus [N=4] followed by candida, moraxella, and E-coli. By NYHA functional classification, all patients were in Class III or IV preoperatively. There was only one operative mortality in patient from group II. All patients substantially, improved postoperatively with NYHA classification in class I or II. This study shows that early surgical intervention in patients with active endocarditis has desirable outcome.

Due to development of internet and mobile communication, M-commerce applications that utilize the digital signature are widely used these days. The mobile environment is weaker than the wired internet environment. Thus, it is highly required to systematically analyze the effect of processing the digital document and the digital signature algorithm, and low bandwidth of the mobile network on the system performance. In this paper, we have constructed the mobile contract system which has the XML based digital contract and the RSA signature algorithm as the test system. And we have derived the performance parameters and then measured in detail the runtime performance of the mobile digital signature system with the Compaq iPAQ 3850 PDA and CDMA 2000 1x mobile network.

The home network system guarantees families a safe, economical, socially integrated and healthy life by using information appliances. And it provides a family with domestic safety, control of instruments, controllable energy and health monitoring by connecting to home appliances. This study designs the broadband PLC home controller using broadband PLC(Power Line Communication) technology which can save much cost at a network infrastructure by using the existing power line at home. The broadband PLC home controller consists of the broadband PLC module, the embedded main controller module and I/O module. The broadband PLC home controller can control various domestic appliances such as an auto door-lock, a boiler, an oven, etc., because it has various I/O specifications. In this study, selected home network middleware for the broadband PLC home controller is Jini surrogate using Jini technology designed by means of access to easily a home network system without a limitation of the devices. And a client application program is supported java servlet program to manage and monitor the broadband PLC home controller via web browser of a PC or a PDA, etc. Finally, for an application, we implemented and tested a home security system using one broadband PLC home controller.

개인용 휴대전화는 다양한 형태로 발전 되어 왔다. 그 동안 국내 통신 시장은 피쳐폰이라고 불리는 단순 전화, 문자 위주의 서비스만을 제공하는 하드웨어 기반의 서비스가 대부분이었다. 몇 년 전부터 PDA와 전화 기능을 기반으로 한 하드웨어가 출시되기 시작하였으나 사용 및 운영의 불편함으로 인해 수요의 폭을 넓히지 못 하였고, 2007년 Apple사의 iPhone 출시를 기점으로 전 세계적으로 다양한 형태의 스마트 폰이 출시되기 시작하였다. 또한 휴대폰 공급 업자들이 제공하는 일방적인 서비스에 만족하지 않고 사용자가 원하는 방향에 필요한 컨텐츠를 다양하게 제공할 수 있는 소프트웨어 마켓의 등장으로 스마트 폰은 그 사용자 층이 매년 큰 폭으로 확대되고 있다. 최근 스마트폰은 글로벌 경기 침체 속에서도 13%대의 성장률(2009년 3/4분기)를 보이며 세계 휴대폰 시장의 중심으로 자리 잡고 있다. 또 사용자의 요구를 충족 시키기 위해서는 다양한 플랫폼의 개발자가 양성 되고 있으며 다양한 어플리케이션을 제공하기 위해 노력하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 다양한 플렛폼 기반의 개발 환경을 소개하고 향후 개발자들이 접목할 수 있는 개발 도구 및 응용 방법을 비교 분석함으로써 스마트폰을 기반으로 한 최적화 어플리케이션의 개발을 촉진 시키고자 한다.

We had studied 20 cases of VSD patients whose murmur was sustained after open heart surgery from 1977 to 1984. The postoperative cardiac catheterization was performed on post-op. 20th day. Their ages ranged from 5 to 25 years old. Among them, 4 patients had significant residual shunt which required reoperation. [1 patient; re-op, 3 patient; refused]. Sex ratio was 13:7 in male and female. Associated anomalies were PDA, ASD, Pulmonary stenosis, Mitral insufficiency. Except 1 case, all of them was Kirklin type II VSD. Postoperative complications were I RBBB, residual shunt, cardiac tamponade due to bleeding, wound infection. Preoperative pulmonary artery systolic pressure was highly related to residual shunt in our study. Postoperative LVEDV returned to normal range on the 3rd week.

Semi-micro-HPLC using a column-switching technique was developed for simultaneous determination of vitamin A and E contents in infant formula. Vitamin A and E were extracted by PDA - HPLC with reversed phase column using organic solvent and their contents in Certified Reference Material (CRM) and infant formula were determined and compared with hydrolysis method and rapid extraction. Developed method has many advantages of simple and rapid sample preparation and simultaneous determination of vitamin A and E by micro-HPLC using reversed phase column.

The effect of air entrainment in twin-fluid spray structure is investigated experimentally by varing the amount of itemizing air. The air entrainment is expected to affect on droplet size and velocity, droplet number density, turbulent kinetic energy and vorticity. PDA(Phase Doppler Anemometer) and PIV(Particle Image Velocimetry) system are used to measure those important factors in analyzing spray structure. The results show that spray structure consists of three distinctive regions ; the atomizing region near nozzle, characterizing strong convective effect, the central core region where droplets are accelerated, and the spray sheath region where droplets are decelerated due to air entrainment. The local air entrainment rate is largest near nozzle, characterizing strong turbulent kinetic energy and vorticity but deceases along axial distance.

For a power source of usual electronic devices such as PDA, smart phone, UPS and electric vehicle, the battery made of serially connected multiple cells is generally used. In this case, if there are some unbalanced among cell voltages, the total lifetime and the total capacity of the battery are limited to a lower value. To maintain a balanced condition in cells, an effective method of regulating the cell voltage in indispensable. In this paper introduced a method for battery balancing system using dissipation in the resistance.

An experimental and numerical study of a spray flow is performed to investigate the spray characteristics using an air-assisted atomizer. A Partical Dynamic Analyzer(PDA) is used to measure SMD, dmp velocity, and drop number density whose the initial conditions have considerable effect on the numerical results. The measured experimental data have been used to asses the accuracy of model predictions. Numerical investigation is made with the Eulerian - Lagrangian formulism. Turbulent dispersion effects using a Monte-Carlo method, turbulent modulation effect and entrainment of air are also numerically simulated. Results show that the numerical predictions of SSF(Stochastic Separated Flow) analysis yielded reasonable agreement with the experimental data. However, the model calculations for small drops produced the inconsistent numerical results due to the effect of surrounding air entrainment.

We propose the tele-monitoring system to real-time medical signal system and implemented the blood-pressure and blood-sugar monitoring system with bluetooth communication system. And, it transmits patient's data blood pressure, blood sugar to doctor and doctor sends the result of medical treatment to patient's phone, hand-phone or PDA. We developed the measurer as portable type in order to non-restrained monitor.
