The antimony deposits of the Hyundong mine, located in the northeastern part of the Sobaegsan massif, occur as hydrothermal quartz+carbonate veins and stockworks which fill the fault fractures developed in Precambrian metamOlphic rocks (mainly, granitic gneiss). Hydrothermal alteration occurs commonly in the vicinity of mineralized veins and is characterized by sericitization and silicification. A K-Ar age of alteration sericite is 139.2$\pm$ 4.4 Ma, implying the early Cretaceous age of mineralization, possibly in association with intrusion of nearby acidic dikes (mainly, quartz porphyry). The hydrothermal mineralization occurred in five mineralization stages. These are: (I) stage I, characterized by deposition of chalcedonic quartz; (2) stage II, deposition of quartz with base-metal sulfides and stibnite; (3) stage III, deposition of quartz and carbonates (calcite, dolomite, ankerite, rhodochrosite) with various antimony-bearing minerals such as stibnite, polybasite, berthierite, native antimony, gudmundite and ullmannite; (4) stage IV, deposition of calcite with stibnite; and (5) stage V, deposition of barren calcite. Antimony occurs mostly as stibnite within stages II to IV veins, which has various habits including disseminated, veinlets and euhedral coarse crystals. Fluid inclusion studies indicate that hydrothermal mineralization at Hyundong occurred from the fluids with temperature and salinity of $330^{\circ}$C to 120 and 5.3 wI. % equiv. NaCI. The temperature and salinity of ore fluids systematically decreased with elapsed time in the course of mineralization, possibly due to the influx of larger amounts of meteoric groundwater. The deposition of antimony-bearing minerals occurred at low temperatures «$250^{\circ}$C), mainly due to the cooling and dilution of fluids. Based on the evidence of fluid boiling during the early stage II mineralization, the mineralization occurred under low pressure conditions (about 80 bars, corresponding to depths of about 350 m under hydrostatic pressure regime). Thermodynamic considerations of ore . mineral assemblages indicate that antimony deposition also occurred as the results of decreases in temperature and sulfur fugacity of hydrothermal fluids. Calculated sulfur isotope composition of ore fluids ($\delta^{34}S_{\Sigma s}$=5.4 to 7.8$\textperthousand$) indicates an igneous source of sulfur.

Residual solid in excess sludge treated by hydrothermal reaction was investigated as raw material for its recycling. Treated excess sludge and residual solid were also focused on their content change during hydrothermal reaction. Two kinds of excess sludge, obtained from a local food factory and a municipal wastewater treatment process, were tested under various conditions. Following hydrothermal reaction, depending on the reaction conditions, biodegradable substrates in treated excess sludge appeared to increase. The separated residual solid was a composite composed of organic and inorganic materials. The proportion of carbon varied from 34.0 to 41.6% depending on reaction conditions. Although 1.89% of hazardous materials were detected, SiO2 (Quartz) was a predominant constituent of the residual solid. X-ray diffraction (XRD) experiments revealed that the residual solid was of a partially amorphous state, suggesting that the residual solids could be easily converted to stable and non harmful substances through a stabilization process. Thus, this technology could be successfully used to control excess sludge and its reuse.
The Wondong Fe-Pb-Zn deposit is located in endo and exoskarns formed along the contact between the Makkol limestone interbedding pelitic limestone of Ordovician age and quartz porphyry of Cretaceous age. At the Wondong mine, the endoskarn shows a discontinuous zonal arrangement from quartz porphyry to pelitic limestone as follows: unaltered quartz porphyry, weakly altered quartz porphyry zone, intensively altered pinkish quartz porphyry zone, garnet zone, and greyish white and fine-grained clinopyroxene zone developed at pelitic limestone side. In terms of chemical mass balance, intensively altered pinkish quartz porphyry relative to unaltered quartz porphyry shows substantial enrichments in $K_2O$, $Na_2O$, and HREE and depletions in MgO, CaO, total $Fe_2O_3$, and LREE. On the other hand, garnet zone of endoskarn is enriched in CaO, MnO, total $Fe_2O_3$, MgO and depleted in $K_2O$, $Na_2O$. $Al_2O_3$ seems to be determining inert component. Thus the behavior of elements indicates that the mobility of elements depends on the equilibration of hydrothermal fluid and minerals and affects on enrichments by fractionation from and depletions by partition to hydrothermal fluid, respectively. Traversing toward pelitic limestone from a central zone of exoskarn, the exoskarn also shows a zonal arrangement as follows: garnet zone, clinopyroxene zone, and decolored pelitic limestone. The arrangement of mineral assemblages in skarns of the Wondong mine is the result of an increase in CaO and $K_2O$ toward the pelitic limestone. Skarn and ore minerals were formed in the following sequence: early skarn, late skarn and magnetite, pyrite, sphalerite, galena, and molybdenite. On the basis of stabilities of mineral assemblages, physicochemical conditions of the late skarn and magnetite mineralization are estimated to be $350^{\circ}C{\leq}T{\leq}400^{\circ}C$ at 1 Kb, $-23{\leq}log\;fO_2{\leq}-18$, and $0.005{\leq}XCO_2{\leq}0.01$, while those of the early skarn to be $420^{\circ}C{\leq}T{\leq}550^{\circ}C$ at 1 Kb.

The copper deposits in Goseong district, Gyeongnam area are fissure filled copper veins emplaced on Cretaceous Goseong formation and andesitic rocks. Occurrence of ore veins and mineral paragenesis suggest a division of the hydrothermal mineralization into three stages: stage 1, deposition of arsenopyrite, pyrite, quartz, chlorite and epidote; stageII, deposition of pyrite, chalcopyrite, galena, sphalerite, electrum, pyrargyrite, tetrahedrite, silver sulfosalt minerals, quartz, chlorite, sericite and miner amount of calcite; stage III, formation of barren calcite veins. Filling temperature of fluid inclusions in quartz of stage II, range from 260 to 360 C and salinities from 6.2 to 13.6 weight percent NaCi equivalent.
The Anyang Feldspar Mine is located in Seoksu Dong, Anyang City, Kyeonggi Do, Korea and has a long exploitation record that is once produced high grade sodium feldspars, for glaze. Geologically, This area is mainly composed of Mesozoic Jurassic biotite granite (Anyang granite) which intruded Precambrian Kyeonggi Gneiss Complex outcroped near the mining area. The deposit is localized on the southwest hill side of Anyang granite batholith and is confined in hydrothemal alteration zone formed by sodium-rich alkali hydrothermal fluids along the fractures of leucocratic granite showing later differentiation facies in the biotite granite. The hydrothermal alteration is characterized by albitization, sericitization, and desilication. The microscopic observation and EPMA, XRD analysis of the feldspar ores show that major minerals are albite and quartz and accessory minerals are orthoclase and sericite, and they are rarely associated with perthite, fluorite, zircon, kaolinite, molybdenite, microcline and iron-oxide. In the REE pattern, the strong negative Eu anomalies of the feldspar ores indicate the influence of feldspar fractionation and show similiar pattern of the host leucocratic granite. The filling temperature of quartz crystals in ore zone ranges from $276^{\circ}C$ to $342^{\circ}C$, and it is inferred that the alteration occurred by the hypothermal solution.
Numerous base-metal bearing hydrothermal quartz vein deposits occur in the Hunan province of southern China. The Tangguanpu lead-zinc-tin-silver mine is the major producer among these deposits. Lead-zinc-tin-silver mineralization occurs in a single stage of massive quartz veins which filled fractures in fault zones within Paleozoic metasedimentary rocks. Sphalerite, chalcopyrite, galena, pyrite, arsenopyrite and pyrrhotite are the principal sulphide minerals in the Tangguanpu lead-zinc ores with minor amounts of tin- and antimony-bearing sulphides (stannite, teallite, boulangerite and tetrahedrite). Based on the iron and zinc partitioning between coexisting stannite and sphalerite, the formation temperature for this mineral assemblage range from 300$^{\circ}$ to 330$^{\circ}$C, which relatively agree with the upper part of homogenization temperature of fluid inclusion in quartz (20T-358$^{\circ}$C). Fluid inclusion data show that main lead-zine-tin-silver mineralization occurred from $H_{2}O$-NaCl fluids with relatively low salinities (11.2-7.3 wl.% eg. NaCI) at temperatures between 207$^{\circ}$ and 358$^{\circ}$C. The relationship between homogenization temperature and salinity suggests a history of cooling and dilution followed by initial boiling. Evidence of initial fluid boiling may indicate the fluid trapping pressures of 180 bars. The ${\delta}^{34}S{{\Sigma}S}$ values of -5.0 to 1.1 %, indicate an igneous source of sulfur in the Tangguanpu lead-zinc-tin-silver hydrothermal fluids.
This study was conducted to investigate the natural origin of fluorine contained in the rocks within the Eulwangsan area via petrological and mineralogical analyses. The main geology of the Yongyudo Eulwangsan area is Triassic biotite granite. Biotite granite and mylonite are the major rock types containing fluorine at high levels (up to 1,700 and 2,400 mg/kg for biotite granite and mylonite, respectively). In the case of the biotite granite, a high concentration of fluorine can be contributed to fluorite, and the results of microscopic analyses show that the fluorite was observed as small veinlets filling cleavages and micro-fractures within alkali-feldspars and plagioclases, or observed together with quartz in ore veins, indicating the secondary formation of fluorite by hydrothermal fluids. In mylonite, on the other hand, a high fluorine concentration is attributable to sericite. Microscopic analyses revealed that the boundary between sericite and surrounding quartz was not clear, the sericite occurred filling the micro-fractures of quartz and encapsulating small quartz cataclasts. These results indicate that the sericite was also formed as a result of hydrothermal alteration. Consequently, it is speculated that the high fluorine level in the rocks of the Eulwangsan area of Yongyudo is of natural origin due to hydrothermal processes.
Hydrothermal alteration patterns and environment are studied by mineral assemblages and chemical analyses of surface and core samples from Miryang pyrophyllite deposit. The alteration zones of this deposit can be divided into three zones on the basis of mineral assemblage; advanced argillic, phyllic, and propylitic zone. Advanced argillic zone mainly consists of pyrophyllite-dickite (-quartz) and corresponds to principal mining ore. The common mineral assemblage of phyllic zone and propylitic zone are sericite-quartz-dickite and chlorite-quartz, respectively. Horizontal and vertical alteration patterns and major element geochemistry indicate that pyrophyllite ores have been formed several times by hydrothermal alteration. And it also suggests that the huge ore bodies may be extended from the deeper part of recent quarries to the south-southeastern direction. The paragenesis of ore minerals and polytype (2M) suggest that ore deposit was formed at about $300-350^{\circ}C$.
Quartz veins from the Jukwangri area of Hwawon-myeon are epithermal quartz veins that are filling the NW or NE-trending faults within Precambrian metasedimentary rocks. Based on their prolongation and ore grades, No. 1 quartz vein can be traced for about 200 m and varies 0.1 to 3 m in thickness. Mineralization of No. 1 quartz vein can be divided into hypogene and supergene stages. Hypogene stage is associated with hydrothermal alteration minerals(phyllic and argillic zones) such as illite, sericite and sulfides such as pyrite, arsenopyrite, sphalerite. chalcopyrite, galena, argentian tetrahedrite. Supergene stage is composed of Fe-Mn oxide, Zn-Fe oxide and Pb oxide. Fluid inclusion data indicate that homogenization temperature and salinity of hypogene stage range from 187 to $306^{\circ}C$ and ken 0.0 to 6.2 wt.% eq. NaCl, respectively. They suggest that ore forming fluids were progressively cooled and diluted from mixing with meteoric water. Oxygen($-4.1{\sim}4.1%o$) and hydrogen($-107{\sim}-88%o$) isotope com-positions indicated that hydrothermal fluids were derived from meteoric and evolved by progressive mixing with meteoric water during mineralization.
Daehwa tungsten-molybdenum deposits is fissure filled quartz veins occurring in Precambrian granite gneiss adjacent to the contact with Mesozoic biotite granite mass. Essential ore minerals are molybdenum and wolframite accompaning scheelite, cassiterite, chalcopyrite, pyrrhotite, pyrite and bismuthinites. Gangue minerals are quartz and little muscovte, fluorite, beryl and Carbonate minerals. Fluid inclusions in quartz, fluorite, beryl, scheelite and calcite have filling temperature ranges of $170-353^{\circ}C$. According to the studies of mineral paragenesis and filling temperature of fluid inclusion indicate that main tungsten and molybdnum mineralization have taken place with the minerals whose filling temperature ranges 205 to $353^{\circ}C$. Liquid $CO_2$ bearing fluid inclusions are characteristic in the quartz and early fluorite of tungsten and tungsten bearing molybdenum veins but hardly recognized from molybdemun veins. Estimated $CO_2$ concentration according to diagram proposed by the Takenouchi ranges from 10 to 20wt%. These facts suggest that tungsten mineralization may be related to the $CO_2$ content of the hydrothermal solution during the mineralizing period.
