The most stable stereo conformer in non substituted benzenesulfonyl urea, 1 was the II-keto form, which the molecule was intramolecular associated(H-bond) coformer between imide group and N atom on the Pyrimidine ring. The hydrolytic degradation of 2 derivatives were proceeds by nucleophilic addition reaction(p<0) with orbital controlled intermolecular interaction between LUMO with electron donating$(\sigma<0)$ groups of 2 and HOMO of water molecule. N-(4,6-disub. pyrimid ine-2-yl)aminocarbonyl-2-(1,1-dimethoxy-2-fluoro)ethylbenze nesulfonamides,3 and N-(4,6-disub. triazine-2-yl)aminocarbonyl-2-(1,1-d imethoxy-2-fluoro)ethylbenzenesulfonamides,4 we re synthesized and their herbicidal activities in vivo against bulrush (Scirpus juncoides.) were measured by the pot test under the paddy conditions And the structure activity relationships(SAR) were analyzed by the multiple regression technique. The results of the SAR suggested that the 3 and 4 derivatives indicated dependent on the hydrophobicity of the 4,6-disubstituents and the heterocyclo group, where the optimal value $((log\;P)_{opt.}=0.89)$ of hydrophobicity was 0.89. The pyrimidine substituents, 3 showed higher herbicidal activity than the triazine substituents, 4. Among them, 4,6-dimethoxypyrimidine substituent, 3a showed the best herbicidal activity.
To investigate bacteria with algal Iytic activities against Anabaena cylindrica when water blooming occurs and to study enzyme profiles of alga-Iytic bacteria, various bacterial strains were isolated from surface waters and sediments in eutrophic lakes or reservoirs in Korea. Abacterial strain AK-07 was characterized and identified as Acinetobacter johnsonii based on its16S rDNA base sequence. When AK-07 was co-cultivated with A. cylindrica, bacterial cells propagated to $8\;{\times}\;10^8$ cfu $ml^{-1}$ and Iyses algal cells. However, culture filtrates of AK-07 did not exhibit algal Iytic activities. That suggesting the enzymes on the surfaces of the bacterium might be effective algal Iytic agents to cause Iyses of cells. Acinetobacter johnsonii AK-07 exhibited high degradation activities against A. cylindrica, and formed alginase, caseinase, lipase, fucodian hydrolase, and laminarinase. Moreover, glycosidases for example ${\beta}$-galatosidase, ${\beta}$-glucosidase, ${\beta}$-glucosaminidase, and ${\beta}$-xylosidase, which hydrolyzed ${\beta}$-0-glycosidic bonds, were found in cell-free extracts of A. johnsonii AK-07. Other glycosidase such as ${\alpha}$-galctosidases, ${\alpha}$-N-Ac-galctosidases, ${\alpha}$-mannosidases, and ${\alpha}$- L-fuco-sidases, which cleavage ${\alpha}$-0-glycosidic bondsare not detected. In the results, enzyme systemsof A. johnsonii AK-07 were very complex to do-grade cell walls of cyanobacteria. The polysaccharides or peptidoglycans of A. cylindrica maybe hydrolyzed and metabolized to a range of easily utilizable monosaccharides or other low molecular weight organic substances by strain AK-07 of A. johnsonii.
A new fourty six 2-(4-(6-chloro-2-benzoxazolyloxy)phenoxy)-N-phenylpro- pionamide derivatives were synthesized and the herbicidal activities against rice plant and barnyard grass with pre-emergence in down land were measured. The structure activity relationships (SAR) between the activities and physicochemical parameters of the substituted(X) N-phenyl group in substrates were analyzed and discussed by Free- Wilson and Hansch method from the basis on the former study (Sung. et. al., 1999). The conditions of selective herbicide activity both the barnyard grass and rice plant are shown that the optimal hydrophobicity, $({\pi})_{opt.}=1.34$ and electron donating with field effect (F<0) of meta and ortho, para-substituted mono or disubstituent on the N-phenyl ring were found to contribute significantly. The herbicidal activities against barnyard grass are roughly the same as the results in up land whereas damage to rice plant in down land more increase than that of up land. Degradation products in water are 2-(4-(6-chloro-2-benzoxazolyloxy)phenoxy)propionic acid ((A)) (obs. pKa=4.35 & obs. logP=4.77) and 6-chloro-2-benzoxazolone (B) (obs. pKa=8.40 & obs. logP=2.90). These results were supposing that the hydrolysis product of substrates, (A) is comparatively absorbed in rice plant but not in barnyard grass. And it is assumed from the SAR equations that the 2,6-dimethyl-4-methoxymethyl group substituent ($pI_{50}=5.41$, 3g/ha) is selected as the most highest herbicidal activity against barnyard grass in green house.
In order to elucidate the fate of the residues of the pyrethroid acaricide-insecticide, acrinathrin in soil, maize plants were grown for one month on the specially-made pots filled with two different types of soils containing fresh and one-month-aged residues of [$^{14}C$]acrinathrin, respectively. The mineralization of [$^{14}C$]acrinathrin to $^{14}CO_2$ during the one-month period of aging and of maize cultivation amounted to $23{\sim}24%$ and $24{\sim}33%$, respectively, of the original $^{14}C$ activities. At harvest after one-month growing, the shoots and roots contained less than 0.1% and 1% of the originally applied $^{14}C$ activity, respectively, whereas the $^{14}C$ activity remaining in soil was $65{\sim}80%$ in both soils. Three degradation products with m/z 198(3-phenoxybenzaldehyde), m/z 214(3-phenoxybenzoic acid), and m/z 228(methyl 3-phenoxybenzoate) besides an unknown were identified from acetone extracts of both soils without and with maize plants after treatment of [$^{14}C$]acrinathrin, by autoradiography and GC-MS, and those with m/z 225(3-phenoxybenzaldehyde cyanohydrin) and m/z 198 (3-phenoxybenzaldehyde) from acetone extract of the Soil A treated with 50 ppm acrinathrin and grown with maize plants for 30 days were identified by mass spectrometry. These results suggested that the hydrolytic cleavage of the ester linkage adjacent to the $^{14}C$ with a cyano group, forming 3-phenoxybenzaldehyde cyanohydrin. The removal of hydrogen cyanide therefrom leads to the formation of 3-phenoxybenzaldehyde as one of the major products. The subsequent oxidation of the aldehyde to 3-phenoxybenzoic acid, followed by decarboxylation would evolve $^{14}CO_2$. Solvent extractability of the soils where maize plants were grown for 1 month and/or [$^{14}C$]acrinathrin was aged for 1 month was less than 31% of the original $^{14}C$ activity and over 95% of the total $^{14}C$ activity in soil extracts was distributed in the organic phase. Accordingly, acrinathrin turned out to be degraded rapidly in both soils and be bound to soil constituents as well, not being available to crops.
A series of the herbicidal pyridylsulfonyl areas, none substitutent, 1-(4,6-dimethoxypyrimidine-2-yl)-3-(2-pyridylsulfonyl) urea, 3 and 3-trifluoromethyl substitutent, 1-(4,6-dimethoxypyrimidine-2-yl)-3-(3-trifluoromethyl-2-pyridylsulfonyl) urea, 5(Flazasulfuron) were synthesizied and the rate of hydrolysis of their has been studied in 25%(v/v) aqueous dioxane at $45^{\circ}C$. From the results of solvent effect($m{\ll}1,\;n{\ll}3\;&\;{\mid}m{\mid}{\ll}{\mid}{\ell}{\mid}$), thermodynamic parameter (${\Delta}S^{\neq}=0.54{\sim}\;-2.19\;e.u.\;&\;{\Delta}H^{\neq}=0.025\;Kcal.mol.^{-1}$), hydrolysis product analysis, $pK_a$ constant(3: 4.9 & 5: lit.4.6) and the rate equation, a marked difference in the kinetics of the reaction of 3 and 5(Flazasulfuron) was observed. It may be concluded that the hydrolysis of 5 proceeds through the $A-S_N2Ar$ reaction via conjugate acid$(5H^+)$ below pH 7.0, whereas, above pH 9.0, the hydrolysis proceeds through irreversibly $(E_1)_{anion}$ and reversibly $(E_1CB)_R$ mechanism via conjugate base(CB), respectively. But in case of 5, $A-S_N2Ar,\;(E_1)anion\;and\;(E_1CB)_R$ mechanism involved Smile rearrangement. The mate of rearrangement of 5 to a 3-trifluoromethyl-2-pyridylpyrimidinyl urea(PPU) in acid and 3-trifluoromethyl-2-pyridyl-4.6-dimethoxypyridinyl amine (PPA) in base was increased about 3.5 times by the introduction of trifluoromethyl group in the 3-position on the 2-pyridyl ring. From the basis of these findings, a possible mechanism for the hydrolysis of 5 was proposed and discussed.

Deterioration of long-term dentin adhesion durability is thought to occur by hydrolytic degradation within hydrophilic domains of the adhesive and hybrid layers. This study investigated the hypothesis that priming the collagen network with an organic solvent displace water without collapse and thereby obtain good bond strength with an adhesive made of hydrophobic monomers and organic solvents. Three experimental adhesives were prepared by dissolving two hydrophobic monomers, bisphenol-A-glycidylmethacrylate (Bis-GMA) and triethyleneglycol dimethacrylate (TEGDMA), into acetone, ethanol or methanol. After an etching and rinsing procedure, the adhesives were applied onto either wet dentin surfaces (wet bonding) or dentin surfaces primed with the same solvent (solvent-primed bonding). Microtensile bond strength (MTBS) was measured at 48 hrs, 1 month and after 10,000 times of thermocycles. The bonded interfaces were evaluated using a scanning electron microscope (SEM). Regardless of bonding protocols, well-developed hybrid layers were observed at the bonded interface in most specimens. The highest mean MTBS was observed in the adhesive containing ethanol at 48 hrs. With solvent-primed bonding, increased MTBS tendencies were seen with thermo cycling in the adhesives containing ethanol or methanol. However, in the case of wet bonding, no increase in MTBS was observed with aging.
The purpose of this study was to perform quantitative comparisons of water permeable zones in both the adhesive and the hybrid layer before and after thermo cycling in order to assess the integrity of the bonding interface. Twenty eight flat dentin surfaces were bonded with a light-cured composite resin using one of four commercial adhesives [OptiBond FL (OP), AdheSE (AD), Clearfil SE Bond (CL). and Xeno III (XE)]. These were sectioned into halves and subsequently cut to yield 2-mm thick specimens; one specimen for control and the other subjected to thermocycling for 10,000 cycles. After specimens were immersed in ammoniacal silver nitrate for 24 h and exposed to a photo developing solution for 8 h, the bonded interface was analyzed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and wavelength dispersive spectrometry (WDS) at five locations per specimen. Immediately after bonding. the adhesive layer of OP showed the lowest silver uptake, followed by CL, AD. and XE in ascending order (p < 0.0001); the hybrid layer of CL had the lowest silver content among the groups (p = 0.0039). After thermocycling, none of the adhesives manifested a significant increase of silver in either the adhesive or the hybrid layer. SEM demonstrated the characteristic silver penetrated patterns within the interface. It was observed that integrity of bonding was well maintained in OP and CL throughout the thermocycling process. Adhesive-tooth interfaces are vulnerable to hydrolytic degradation and its permeability varies in different adhesive systems, which may be clinically related to the restoration longevity.
