This study has two objectives. One is developing the runoff model for Hoe-Dong Reservoir basin located at the upstream of Su-Young River in Pusan. To develop the runoff model, basic hydrological parameters - curve number to find effective rainfall, and storage coefficient, etc. - should be estimated. In this study, the effective rainfall was calculated by the SCS method, and the storage coefficient used in the Clark watershed routing was cited from the report of P.E.B. The other is the derivation of transfer function for Hoe-Dong Reservoir basin. The linear, discrete, input-output model which contained six parameters was selected, and the parameters were estimated by the least square method and the correlation function method, respectively. Throughout this study, rainfall and flood discharge data were based on the field observation in 1981.8.22 - 8.23 (typhoon Gladys). It was observed that the Clark watershed routing regenerated the flood hydrograph of typhoon Gladys very well, and this fact showed that the estimated hydrological parameters were relatively correct. Also, the calculated hydrograph by the linear, discrete, input-output model showed good agreement with the regenerated hydrograph at Hoe-Dong Dam site, so this model can be applicable to other small urban areas. Key Words : runoff, effective rainfall, SCS method, clark watershed iou상ng, hydrological parameters, parameter estimation, least square method, correlation function method, input-output model, typhoon gladys.

This study is to secure more accurate data of the discharge on the measurement by gaining a reliable hydrological data through the comparison the present method of measuring them and the other way that is based ISO. This study suggests the applicable measurement method of the discharge that has reliance through general elements and the analysis of uncertainty by comparing and assaying the data of the Hyung San River that is measured by the present standard. The result of this study makes us realize that we should complement the measurement method of the discharge securing the reliable and accurate hydrological data Hydrological data is very important things to perform domestic river works or install some structure in river or coast. Securing reliable and accurate hydro-data and making a thesis should go on in other to do any construction in river or coast.
In this study, a hydrological cycle soundness evaluation method was developed using monthly meteorological observation data. The Gyeongan stream watershed was divided into five sub-basins and eight criteria were established for hydrological cycle evaluation: the number of non-rainfall day, the number of non-rainfall day fluctuation, over 30 mm per day, over 30 mm per day fluctuation, average river level, average river level fluctuation, average groundwater level and average groundwater level fluctuation. Observation data were normalized and weights for evaluation by each sub-basin were calculated using the entropy method. The hydrological cycle soundness evaluation indices were calculated using TOPSIS applying the calculated weight value. As a result of the study, it was found that the hydrological cycle soundness was unstable in the Gyeongan-upstream from November to January, the Gyeongan-suwipyo from February to April, Gonjiam stream from April to May, and the Gyeongan-downstream from November to February. In this study, the developed technique is expected to serve as a quantitative basis for policy decision to recover hydrological cycle soundness.

This study aimed to develop a flow measurement method using drone in flood season. Measuring flow in all branches is difficult to conduct annually due to budget and labor limitation, safety and river works. Especially when heavy rain like storm comes, changes in stage-discharge relationship should be reviewed; however, it is usually impeded by the aforementioned issues. To solve the problem, it developed a simple measuring method with a minimum of labor and time. A numeric map and numeric orthophoto coordinate of South Korea are mostly based on Transverse Mercator Projection (TM) in accordance with rectangular coordinate system and use World Geodetic Reference System 1980 (GRS80) oval figure for conversion. Applying a concept of aerial photogrammetry, it located four visible Ground Control Points (GCP) near the river at Uijeongbu-si (Singok Bridge) and Yeongdong-gun (Youngdong 2nd Bridge) station and measured the coordinates using VRS DGPS. Hovering at a same level, drones took orthophoto of water surface at an interval of 3 seconds. It defined the pictures with GRS80 TM coordinate system, a rectangular coordinate system and then conducted an orthometric correction using GCP coordinates. According to X and Y coordinate analysis, it estimated the distance between the floating positions at 3 seconds-intervals and calculated the flow through the flow area according to the flow path. This study attested applicability of the flow measurement method using drone in flood season by applying the rectangular coordinate system based on the concept of aerial photogrammetry.

Continuous and accurate instrument of river water usage is needed for sustainable river water management. Although the instrument methods applicable to each point of use of river water are different, more precise direct instrument methods are required at the point of major open channel. Users of river water should select appropriate direct instrument methods to measure usage, but there is a lack of standards and verification research. In this study, the H-Q rating curve method, ultrasonic method, and microwave method were applied directly to the test basin in the upper basin of Mangyeong river, and the accuracy of measurement data was evaluated by comparing absolute error between discharge data calculated by instrument method. When comparing the calculated discharge of point units, the ultrasonic method showed the best results of the actual measurement. Through continuous instrument, the sum of the daily and monthly units was compared, and the ultrasonic and microwave methods were shown to be highly accurate. Based on the results of this study, it is hoped that the appropriate direct measurement method can be selected according to the importance of the river water use facility, considering that the ultrasonic method and the microwave method are relatively costly compared to the water level-flow relationship method.
In Korea, ground water exploration by the electric method as a major prospecting tool has been carried out mainly in alluvial deposits, So it is considered to be important to understand the principle concerning the electrical and hydrological properties of alluvium. Factors which affect on the electrical and hydrological properties of alluvium were investigated. Major elements in ground water exploration are porosity and dermeability for most alluvial deposits with exceptions in some particular areas. Much water yield can be expected where alluvial materials have large porosity and small particle size while large particle size in necessary for good permeability. Problem is to locate the points which have comparatively large porosity and good permeability at a time. It is known that electrical resistivity method is proved useful to solve the above problem. The conclusion is: Localities which have greater alluvium thickness(7 to 10m) and 200 to 500 ohm -m of real resistivity value are suitable for well site in alluvial deposits in Korea where alluvium thickness is comparatively small(less than 10m in generaa) and bedrock formations are mainly composed of granite gneiss and granite.
Krishna River is significantly affected due to Srisailam dam from past 30 years. The impact of this hydraulic structure drastically reduced the minimum flow regime on the downstream, which made the river nearing to decaying stage. In the present paper, Environmental Flow called minimum flow values released for the dam are estimated with the help of three hydrological methods viz., Range of variability Approach (RVA), Desktop Reserve Model (DRM), and Global Environmental Flow Calculator (GEFC). DRM method suggested considering the intermediate values obtained from among the three methods to preserve the ecosystem on the downstream of the river, which amounts to an average annual allocation of 9378 Million Cubic Meter (MCM) which is equal to 23.11% of mean annual flow (MAF). In this regard GEFC and RVA methods accounted for 22% and 31.04% of MAF respectively. The results indicate that current reservoir operation policy is causing a severe hydrological alteration in the high flow season especially in the month of July. The study concluded that in the case of non-availability of environmental information, hydrological indicators can be used to provide the basic assessment of environmental flow requirements. It is inferred from the results obtained from the study, that the new reservoir operations can fulfil human water needs without disturbing Environmental Flow Requirements.
This study evaluates the applicability of the classification rule of hydrological soil group proposed by Lee et al. (2018) with its application to three river basins (Jungmuncheon, Cheonmicheon, and Hancheon) in Jeju Island. The CN values are estimated as results of this application to these three basins, which is then compared with those estimated by applying the conventional three methods. Additionally, previous studies related with the classification of soil groups of Jesu Island, such as the infiltration and rainfall-runoff analysis, are reviewed to evaluate how the resulting hydrological soil groups vary depending on the adopted classification method.. Summarizing the results is as follows. (1) Comparison result of the hydrological soil groups of Jeju Island with respect to the classification method shows that the soil group B is dominant in the application of Lee et al. (2018). However, it is hydrological soil groups C and D in the application of Hu and Jung (1987), hydrological soil groups A and C in the application of Jung et al. (1995), and hydrological soil group D in the application of RDA (2007). (2) In all the applications of Lee et al. (2018) to three selected river basins in Jeju Island, the CN valuse are found to be smaller than those by other conventional three methods.. Lastly, (3) The evaluation results of previous studies related with the classification of hydrological soil groups analysis in Jeju Island shows that the CN value in the Jeju Island may be smaller than those estimated by conventional three methods, also the initial loss higher than 0.2S.
The prediction of a design-flood hydrograph at a particular site on a river may be based on the derivation of discharge or stage hydrograph at an upstream section, togeater with a method to route this hydrograph along the rest of river. On the other hand, flood routing methods provide a useful tool for the analysis of flooding in all but the smaller catchment, and these methods are largely stored into hydrological method and hydraulic method. Although the Muskingum Method as a hydrological method ignores dynamic effects on the flood wave, Muskingum-Cunge Method based on hydraulic method is possible to improve the method so that it gives a good approximation to the solution of the linear convective-diffusion equation. This is made on the basis of the finite diffeience equation for the Muskingum Method. In the study, the outflows predicted by Muskingum-Cunge Method are campared with the observed outflows of the Pyung Chang River.

Self Organizing Map (SOM) was applied for pattern classification of hydrological and water quality data measured at Jangseong Reservoir on a monthly basis. The primary objective of the present study is to understand better data characteristics and relationship between the data. For the purpose, two SOMs were configured by a methodologically systematic approach with appropriate methods for data transformation, determination of map size and side lengths of the map. The SOMs constructed at the respective measurement stations for water quality data (JSD1 and JSD2) commonly classified the respective datasets into five clusters by Davies-Bouldin Index (DBI). The trained SOMs were fine-tuned by Ward's method of a hierarchical cluster analysis. On the one hand, the patterns with high values of standardized reference vectors for hydrological variables revealed the high possibility of eutrophication by TN or TP in the reservoir, in general. On the other hand, the clusters with low values of standardized reference vectors for hydrological variables showed the patterns with high COD concentration. In particular, Clsuter1 at JSD1 and Cluster5 at JSD2 represented the worst condition of water quality with high reference vectors for rainfall and storage in the reservoir. Consequently, SOM is applicable to identify the patterns of potential eutrophication in reservoirs according to the better understanding of data characteristics and their relationship.
