유한요소법을 이용한 수소충전용 압력용기의 응력 거동특성에 관한 수치적 연구 (A Numerical Analysis on the Stress Behavior Characteristics of a Pressure Vessel for Hydrogen Filling by FEM)

  • 전세계적으로 저탄소 친환경에너지로 다변화 정책이 진행되고 있으며, 그 정책 중 하나가 수소경제 활성화이다. 수소경제 활성화 정책으로 수소 공급을 위한 수소충전소의 보급이 가속화됨에 따라 사고발생의 위험도 커지고 있다. 수소의 폭발사고는 대부분 대형사고로 이어지기 때문에 수소에너지를 사용함에 있어 안전성을 확보하는 것은 매우 중요하다. 수소에너지를 활용하기 위해서는 액화수소의 생산, 저장, 운송 등에 사용될 수소저장 용기의 안전성 확보는 반드시 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 수소충전용 압력용기의 구조안전성을 평가하기 위해 가스 압력에 대한 거동특성을 유한요소해석으로 분석하였다. 압력용기의 재료는 SA-372 Grade J / Class 70을 사용하였고, 해석모델은 압력용기가 축대칭 형상이므로 1/4 형상만 고려하여 6면체 메쉬를 적용하였다. 수소가스 압력용기를 사용 최고 압력에서 유한요소해석을 하였으며, 해석 결과인 용기의 von Mises Stress와 변형량, 변형률 에너지 밀도를 관찰하였다.

수소의 폭발 특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Explosion Characteristics of Hydrogen)

  • It was discussed about explosion danger of hydrogen gas experimentally that could be happen during the handling and using. Hydrogen concentration was varied from 10 to 60 vol% for get the explosion characteristics of hydrogen and 5 kinds of cylindrical vessel were used to find the explosion characteristics of hydrogen according to the vessel volume. Initial pressure of hydrogen-air mixture was varied from 0.6 to 2 kg/cm2. Based on the experiment, explosion pressure was most high near the 30vol% of hydrogen and explosion pressure was increased slightly according to the increase of vessel volume but explosion pressure rise rate was decreased. Explosion pressure was increased linearly proportional to the initial pressure of gas mixture.

  • In this research, for the smart health monitoring of the hydrogen storage high pressure composite vessel, the feasibility study of an embedded fiber Bragg grating(FBG) sensor is carried out. To verify strain measurement in various temperature environment which is needed for the hydrogen pressure vessel, tensile test of a composite specimen with both an embedded FBG sensor and a strain gauge is made in low temperature. Before we try a real-size hydrogen storage pressure vessel, a small & cheap composite pressure vessel having the same structure is fabricated with embedded FBG sensors and tested. In the case of an aluminum liner inside the vessel, survivability of FBG sensors at the interface is lower than the other areas.

직접냉각에 의한 수소액화장치의 성능실험 (Performance experiment of a hydrogen liquefaction equipment by direct cooling)

  • A hydrogen liquefaction equipment by direct cooling has been designed and built at KIST. Cool-down characteristics and liquefaction performance of the equipment have been investigated. The hydrogen liquefaction equipment consists of a GM refrigerator, a liquefaction velssel, a radiation shield and a cryostat. It is found that the hydrogen starts to be liquefied in the liquefaction vessel after 40~50 minutes of cool-down from the gas state of 270K. The effect of natural convection phenomena of charged gas in liquefaction vessel on the cool-down characteristics is evaluated by comparing with those in vacuum of liquefaction vessel. It is seen that the cool-down time of a liquefaction vessel is substantially increased in vacuum environment of liquefaction vessel. The experiments have been performed for 1~5 atm of hydrogen pressure to investigate the influence of hydrogen pressure on the liquefaction rate and figure of merit(FOM). It is found that both liquefaction rate and FOM are increased as the charged hydrogen pressure is increased.

Diffusion Range and Pool Formation in the Leakage of Liquid Hydrogen Storage Tank Using CFD Tools

  • In liquid hydrogen storage tanks, tank damage or leakage in the surrounding pipes possess a major risk. Since these tanks store huge amounts of the fluid among all the liquid hydrogen process facilities, there is a high risk of leakage-related accidents. Therefore, in this study, we conducted a risk assessment of liquid hydrogen leakage for a grid-type liquid hydrogen storage tank (lattice-type pressure vessel (LPV): 18 m3) that overcame the low space efficiency of the existing pressure vessel shape. Through a commercially developed three-dimensional computational fluid dynamics program, the geometry of the site, where the liquid hydrogen storage tank will be installed, was obtained and simulations of the leakage scenarios for each situation were performed. From the computational flow analysis results, the pool formation behavior in the event of liquid hydrogen leakage was identified, and the resulting damage range was predicted.

고압형 메탄올 수증기 개질기 압력용기의 내부 유동 개선을 위한 전산 해석 (Computational Analysis for Improving Internal Flow of High Pressure Methanol Steam Reformer Pressure Vessel)

  • A reformer is a device for producing hydrogen used in fuel cells. Among them, methanol steam reformer uses methanol as fuel, which is present as a liquid at room temperature. It has the advantage of low operating temperature, high energy density, and high hydrogen production. The purpose of this study is to improve the internal flow of the pressure vessel when a bundle of methanol steam reformer in the pressure vessel goes out to a single outlet. An analysis of equilibrium reaction to methanol steam reforming reaction was conducted using Aspen HYSYS® (Aspen Technology Inc., Bedford, USA), and based on the results, computational analysis was conducted using ANSYS Fluent® (ANSYS, Inc., Canonsburg, USA). For comparison of the results, the height of the pressure vessel, outlet diameter, and fillet was set as variables, and the optimum geometry was selected by comparing the effects of gravity and the amount of negative pressure.

  • High combustion efficiency of hydrogen could make it an ideal source of green energy in the future. At this time, high pressure vessel is the most reasonable method of storing hydrogen. However, such a high pressurized vessel could pose a critical threat if ruptured. For this reason, it is important to understand the mechanism of hydrogen's self-ignition when a high-pressure hydrogen released into air. This paper presents several visualization images as experimental results using high-speed camera. From the visualization images, the ignition is initiated near rupture disk immediately after failure of disk. And the initial ignition and flame is stronger as a rupture pressure increases. However, this ignition region do not affect the general self-ignition mechanism when a high-pressure hydrogen is released into air through tue after failure of disk.

50 MPa급 대용량 수소압축기 사이클 해석 (Hydrogen Compressor Cycle Analysis for the Operating Pressure of 50 MPa and High Charging Capacity)

  • 현재 개발되고 있는 수소 압축 사이클에서는 압축기를 통해 초고압으로 압축된 수소를 고압용기 내에 저장하여 사용한다. 이러한 충전과정 중 용기내의 수소의 압력 및 온도 상승으로 인하여 고압용기에서 열응력이 발생할 수 있다. 고압용기의 신뢰성을 확보하기 위해서는 용기내의 수소의 온도를 예측하고 제어하는 것이 중요하다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 고압용기의 신뢰성 해석을 위하여 50 MPa급 수소압축시스템에서 고압용기를 충전하는 과정에서의 압력상승에 따른 용기 내의 수소온도 변화 및 외부와의 열평형까지 걸리는 시간, 감압밸브를 지날 때의 수소온도 변화, 고압용기 냉각을 위한 열교환기의 요구능력 등에 대하여 이론적인 방법과 수치적인 방법으로 해석을 수행하였다. 이론해석 결과, 고압용기의 내부 온도는 충전하기 전에 40 ℃에서 충전 후 1st cycle, 2nd cycle에서 평균적으로 126.675 ℃, 62.1 ℃가 증가하였다. 또한, 고압용기의 충전량은 1st cycle, 2nd cycle에서 각각 7.9 kg, 8.9 kg으로 계산되었다. 본 연구의 결과는 수소충전소와 같이 수소압축시스템이 필요한 현장의 인프라 설계 및 구축 등에 유용하게 활용 될 것이다.
