Synthesis of cholic acid-based tripodal receptor (1) and its high chloride ion affinity in comparison with that of chenodeoxycholic acid (2) and lithocholic acid-based receptor (3) was achieved. Anion binding affinities of the receptors were evaluated $by\;^1H$ NMR and ITC titrations. Tripodal receptor 1 showed a selective affinity for $CI ^-$ over $Br ^-$, $I^-$, $H_2 PO _4\;^-$, and $CH _3 CO_2\;^-$. The selectivity of 1 for $CI ^-$ is about 3 times that of $Br ^-$, and 17 times that for $H_2 PO_4\;^-$.
This paper investigated and validated the mechanisms and principles for constructing reticular structure of plant fiber through frothing solution approach. After process, plant fibers became low-density reticular-structured block with all properties meeting Chinese standards for cushion packing materials. The bonds between fibers acted as knots in a truss and were strong enough to keep space occupied by bubbles in the frothing solution from shrinking in the subsequent draining process. The formation of the reticular structure depends mainly on the pressure difference between inside and outside bubble, the effect of surface adsorbent force on bubble film, and hydrogen bond among fiber hydroxide.
Increasing the amount of filler in paper is of high interest for paper industry while maintaining its key sheet quality properties. In this study, a MFC-GCC composite, made through a co-grinding NBSK (Northern bleached softwood kraft) pulp with a ground calcium carbonate (Intracarb 60), was used as a strength aid in paper in order to evaluate a potential cost reduction through filler increase without sacrificing paper quality. Hand-sheets were made of NBSK and/or eucalyptus pulp by using white water recirculation in a Tappi sheet former and was compared its properties without or with MFC additions at different filler levels. It was found that the MFC-GCC composite has a large surface area compared to the fiber, allowing the formation of more hydrogen bonds in the web, thus giving natural strength to the paper. Overall results are encouraging that the MFC-GCC composite allows papermaker to reduce basis weight and maintain critical sheet properties.
Cellulose is extremely difficult to dissolve cellulose in water and most common organic solvents due to their stiff molecular structure, close chain packing and intermolecular hydrogen bonds. Recently, cellulose solutions using ionic liquids (ILs) as a green solvent have been known to form cholesteric liquid crystalline phase at high cellulose concentration. In this study, the phase transition and rheological behaviors of concentrated cellulose/[AMIM]Cl solution were investigated using polarized optical microscopy and rheometry. Studies were conducted to characterize the influence of cellulose concentration on the phase transition of the cellulose solution and the mechanical properties of the regenerated fibers spun from the anisotropic cellulose/[AMIM]Cl solutions.
In this paper, the established model of NBTI (Negative Bias Temperature Instability) mechanism was reviewed. Based on this mechanism, then, the influence of nitrogen was discussed among other processes. A constant concentration of nitrogen exists inside $SiO_2$ in order to prevent boron from diffusing and to increase dielectric constant. It was shown that NBTI improvement was achieved by controlling nitrogen profile. It was supposed that the existence of low activation energy of Si-N bonds at $Si-SiO_2$ interface attributes the improvement by making hydrogen prevent interface traps. It was also shown that improvement of NBTI can be achieved by more effective control of nitrogen profile. It was supposed that the maximum control of nitrogen profile can be achieved by DPN (Decoupled Plasma Nitridation) process.
The effectiveness of silicon nitride SiNx surface passivation is investigated and quantified. This study adopted single-layer antireflection (SLAR) coating of SiNx for efficiency improvement of solar cell. The silicon nitride films were deposited by means of plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PECVD) in planar coil reactor. The process gases used were pure ammonia and a mixture of silane and helium. The thickness and the refractive index on the films were measured by ellipsometry and chemical bonds were determined by using an FT-IR equipment. This films obtained were analyzed in term of hydrogen content, refractive index for gas flow ratio $(NH_3/SiH_4)$, and efficiency of solar cell. The polycrystalline silicon solar cells passivated by silicon nitride shows efficiency above 12.8%.
Xanthine Oxidase is an enzyme, which oxidizes hypoxanthine to xanthine, and xanthine to uric acid. It is widely distributed throughout various organs including the liver, gut, lungs, kidney, heart, brain and plasma. It is involved in gout pathogenesis. Hence, in the present study, Hologram based Quantitative Structure Activity Relationship Study was performed on a series of Xanthine Oxidase antagonist named 2-(indol-5-yl) thiazole derivatives. The best HQSAR model was obtained using Atoms, Bonds, Connection, Hydrogen, Chirality and Donor Acceptor as fragment distinction parameter using hologram length 71 and 4 components with fragment size of minimum 2 and maximum 5. Significant cross-validated correlation coefficient ($q^2$= 0.563) and non cross-validated correlation coefficients ($r^2$= 0.967) were obtained. The model was then used to evaluate the six external test compounds and its $r^2{_{pred}}$ was found to be 0.798. Contribution map show that presence of propyl ring in indole thiazole makes big contributions for improving the biological activities of the compounds. We hope that our HQSAR model and analysis will be helpful for future design of xanthine oxidase antagonists.
p-tert-Calix[4]arene, tosylate of 2-(2-chloroethoxy)ethanol, $K_2CO_3$,
The chemical, physical, and emulsifying properties of BSF-1, which is an extracellular lipopolysaccharide biosurfactant produced by Klebsiella oxytoca strain BSF-1, were studied. BSF-1 was found to be composed mainly of carbohydrate and fatty acids. The average molecular weight was $1,700{\sim}2,000 kDa$. The polysaccharide fraction contained L-rhamnose, D-galactose, D-glucose, and D-glucuronic acid at a molar ratio of 3:1: 1:1. The fatty acid content was 1.1 % (w/w) and consisted mainly of palmitic acid (C16:0), 3-hydroxylauric acid (3-OH-C12:0), and lauric acid (C12:0). In terms of thermal properties, BSF-1 was revealed to have inter- and intra-molecular hydrogen bonds. The hydrodynamic volume (intrinsic viscosity) of BSF-1 was 22.8dL/g. BSF-1 could be maintained as a stable emulsion for 48 h through a low-level reduction in surface tension. The optimal emulsification temperature was $30^{\circ}C$. Emulsification by BSF-1 was efficient at both acidic and neutral pH values.
SiOC films containing alkyl groups have a low dielectric constant because of the interaction between the C-H hydrogen bonds and the oxygen of high electro-negative atom. The Si-$CH_3$ in a void is broken by the $O_2$, therefore the strength of CH bond in Si-O-O-$CH_3$ bond increases. The Si-O-O-$CH_3$ bond is broken by nucleophilic attack due to Si atom, again. The elongation of C-H bond causes the red shift, and the compression of C-H bond causes the blue shift. Among these chemical shifts, the blue shift from $1000\;cm^{-1}$ to $1250\;cm^{-1}$ was related with the formation of pores. If the oxygen is deficient condition, the methylradicals of the electron-rich substitution group terminate easily the Si-O-Si cross-link, and the pore is originated from the cross-link breakdown due to much methyl radicals of Si-$CH_3$. The dielectric constant of the films decreases due to pore generation.
