  • This study evaluated the skin improvement effect and feeling of use of a temperaturesensitive hydrogel mask pack containing an hyaluronic acid. Ten women in their 30s to 40s who met the selection criteria were tested. The hydrogel mask pack was applied 3 times a week for 4 weeks, and moisture, oil, and skin tone were measured. As a result, skin moisture content increased by 11.3% after one application and 58.36% after 4 weeks of use, showing a very high rate of moisture increase. The oil content increased by 67% after one use, and after that, an appropriate amount of oil was maintained. Did not increase any more. Skin tone increased after 4 weeks. After 4 weeks, evaluation of application feeling and sensory efficacy obtained 87.6% of positive results. As a result of the above, the temperature-sensitive hydrogel mask pack helps to improve the skin and has an excellent feeling of use.

  • The multi-layered and compartmented hydrogel was designed to examine the self-transforming for developing a 4D mask pack. The hydrogel consisting of two layers with different expansion ratios were fabricated to have specific curvature by self-folding assembly. In addition, the hydrogel compartmented with three different geometries was designed by varying of expansion ratios. The compartmented hydrogel with 0.03, 0. $0,03mm^{-1}$ of curvatures at room temperature was self-transformed with 1.33, 0, $1.33mm^{-1}$of curvatures at $37^{\circ}C$, enhancing the facial adhesion. Overall, this new strategy to prepare the multi-layered and compartmented hydrogel would be actively used in developing the 4D mask pack to self-transform by each facial curvature.

  • This study was conducted on women in their 20s and 30s living in the Seoul metropolitan area by using questionnaires on the recognition and purchase behavior of mask packs. According to this study, although there is high interest in skin beauty, the recognition of characteristics and distinctions according to mask pack type was found to be insufficient. After using mask packs, 51.5% of those surveyed were satisfied with their efficacy and effectiveness. When using the mask pack, the Sheet type mask pack was discontented with usability, size, Close Adhesion and skin irritation, Hydrogel type is material, sleeping type is content and absorbent, cellulose type pack was found to have the same discomfort with the material as the hydro gel type. Through the results of this study, the possibility of utilization as basic data for mask pack market marketing was confirmed.

  • Ultraviolet radiation have much influenced with a deep wrinkles, roughness, laxity of skin damage and pigmentation through oxidative stress and oxidative photo-damage. This study investigates the functional properties of hydrogel facial mask sheets made from agar, Styela clava tunics and Broussonetia papyrifera tunics. The skin of S. clava is covered with a hard cellulose containing glycoprotein, glycosaminoglycan and chondroitin sulfate. B. papyrifera is better known as Paper mulberry. It contains kazinol which serves as a tyrosinase inhibitor and skin whitening agent. The tensile strength of facial mask sheet was measured by universal testing machine, and the water absorption and moisture permeability of facial mask sheet were measured by dryer. Additionally, the DPPH assay and MTT assay were conducted for anti-oxidative activity and cytotoxicity of facial mask sheet. The whitening effect of the facial mask sheet was measured by tyrosinase inhibitor assay. These tests showed that the three ingredients are suitable cosmetic materials. The results reveal that they produce a high quality hydrogel facial mask sheet when the membrane contains 1%(W/V) of agar, 0.1%(W/V) of B. papyrifera tunics and 0.05%(W/V) of S. clava tunics.

  • Typical radiation cross-linked hydrogels has the characteristic that high water content, but low emission efficiency of active ingredients. Therefore, the hydrogel was prepared by the addition to collagen, which is closely related to the formation of skin wrinkles in biocompatibility and highly water-soluble carboxymethyl cellulose sodium salt (CMC) in order to preparation of hydrogels has excellent emission efficiency of active ingredients. Hydrogels were prepared by dissolving CMC and collagen each of 0.5%, 10% concentration in deionized water. Then, prepared hydrogels are performed by gamma-radiation at 1, 3, 5 kGy irradiation dose. The results showed that the gel fraction of after irradiated 3 kGy hydrogel was higher than before irradiated gelation as long as the 55.3%. The swelling rate of irradiated 3 kGy hydrogel was lower than the non-irradiated sample. The compressive strength of 3 kGy irradiated hydrogel was the highest. The visco-elastic did not show any significant differences, even after irradiation. The CMC hydrogel in this study suggested a potential use as a material for the mask pack for improved emission efficiency of the active ingredient and anti-wrinkles.
