Pore Size Distribution and Chloride Diffusivity of Concrete Containing Ground Granulated Blast Furnace Slag

  • In a hardened concrete, diffusion of oxygen, carbon dioxide, aggressive ions, and moisture from the environment to the concrete takes place through the pore network. It is well known that making dense cement matrix enhances the durability of concrete as well as all the characteristics including strength of concrete. In this paper,9 mix concretes with water to cementitious material ratio (40,45, and $50\%$) and replacement ratio of GGBFS (40 and $60\%$ of cement by weight) were studied on the micro-pore structure by mercury intrusion porosimetry and the accelerated chloride diffusion test by potential difference. From the results the average pore diameter and accelerated chloride diffusivity of concrete were ordered NPC > G4C > G6C. It is concluded that there is a good correlation between the average pore diameter and the chloride diffusivity, and the mineral admixtures has a filling effect, which increases the tortuosity of pore and makes large pores finer, on the pore structure of cement matrix due to the latent hydraulic reaction with hydrates of cement.

실내 및 현장시험에 의한 제강 슬래그의 투수성 고찰 (Considerations of Permeability of Converter Slag by Laboratory and In-situ Tests)

  • The permeability of converter slag, replacing material of sand mat on improving soft clay foundation, was evaluated in the laboratory as well as in situ test. Effects of grain size, flow water time and aging were investigated using sea and fresh water Converter slag which has a grain size less than 10mm were submerged with fresh water and sea water. In fresh water, the coefficients of permeability in samples A and B were measured as 4.50${\times}$10$^{-2}$ cm per second and 1.20${\times}$10$^{-1}$ cm per second, respectively while as 1.88$\times$10$^{-2}$ cm per second and 3.86$\times$10$^{-1}$ cm per second in sea water. The condition of turbulent flow may exit and was experimentally certified based on the relationship of hydraulic gradient and seepage velocity. After 180 days in using sea water, the coefficients of permeability of samples A and B decreased ten times smaller than those initial values, and after that time continually decreased as for till 360 days. Finally, filling with voids in high-calcium quicklime(CaO) may result in the reduction of coefficient of permeability. In-situ coefficient of permeability however was Practically satisfactory.

  • Clutches are an integral part of the automatic transmission for changing gears. Modern automatic transmissions make extensive use of wet multiple-disc clutches employing hydraulic actuation mechanism with electronic control. Although nowadays, highly advanced shifting algorithm implements the superior shift quality and transmission efficiency, its performance should be based on smooth, reliable engagement with a reasonably durable friction material as well as stable clutch piston dynamics. Particularly, clutch filling control is the crucial part of shifting process because only the open-loop control is available due to the lack of measurement. In this paper, the effect of clutch-fill control parameters on clutch piston dynamics is experimentally investigated by using clutch piston test equipment which enables the clutch piston to actuate similar to real shifting conditions. The experimental analysis results can be expected to be utilized for the calibration of proportional solenoid valve as reference current profile data in vehicle test.

중자에서 발생한 가스 결함 위치 예측 (Prediction of Positions of Gas Defects Generated from Core)

  • Hydraulic units are important components of agricultural and construction machinery, and thus require high-quality castings. However, gas defects occurring inside the sand cores of the castings due to the resin used is a problem. This study therefore aimed to develop a casting simulation method that can clarify the gas defect positions. Gas defects are thought to be caused by gas generated after the molten metal fills up the mold cavity. The gas constant is the most effective factor for simulating this gas generated from sand cores. It is calculated by gas generating temperature and analysis of composition in the inert gas atmosphere modified according to the mold filling conditions of molten metal. It is assumed that gases generated from the inside of castings remain if the following formula is established. [Time of occurrence of gas generation] + [Time of occurrence of gas floating] > [Time of occurrence of casting surface solidification] The possibility of gas defects is evaluated by the time of occurrence of gas generation and gas floating calculated using the gas constant. The residual position of generated gases is decided by the closed loops indicating the final solidification location in the casting simulation. The above procedure enables us to suggest suitable casting designs with zero gas defects, without the need to repeat casting tests.

환원환경에서 암반 균열을 통한 우라늄 이동 및 지연 특성 (Migration and Retardation Properties of Uranium through a Rock Fracture in a Reducing Environment)

  • 본 연구에서는 타당한 지하조건을 모사하기 위한 실험장치를 글로버박스(Glove-box) 내에 설치하고 천연지하수 및 자연균열을 가진 화강암 시추코어를 이용하여 핵종이동 실험을 수행하였다. 암반코어의 균열을 통한 지하수 유동을 해석하기 위하여 비수착성 음이온 핵종인 Br로 지하수 유동실험을 수행하였다. 암반 균열을 통한 우라늄 이동 실험결과에서 유출된 우라늄의 파과곡선이 비수착성 핵종인 Br와 유사한 거동을 보여주었는데, 이는 주어진 지하수 조건에서 우라늄이 주로 탄산염과 결합된 음이온 복합체로 이동하기 때문인 것으로 추정된다. 아울러 균열충전광물에 대한 우라늄의 회분식 수착실험을 수행한 결과, 균열충전광물에 대한 우라늄의 분배계수 $K_d$는 약 2.7 mL/g로 낮게 나타났다. 이러한 우라늄 수착실험 결과는 빠른 유출을 보인 우라늄 이동실험 결과와 일치한다. 균열암반을 통한 우라늄 이동의 지 연 특성을 보다 자세히 분석하기 위하여 회분식 수착실험으로 부터 구한 $K_d$값을 이용해 지연인자 $R_d$$({\sim}16.2)$를 구하고 이동실험 결과로부터 구한 $R_d$$({\sim}14.3)$과 비교한 결과, 서로 매우 유사한 지연인자 값을 가진다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 이는 화강암 코어의 균열을 통한 우라늄의 이동 지연이 주로 균열충전광물에 의해 이루어지고 있음을 의미하는 것이라고 하겠다.

Sloshing suppression by floating baffle

  • Sloshing is a phenomenon which may lead to dynamic stability and damages on the local structure of the tank. Hence, several anti-sloshing devices are introduced in order to reduce the impact pressure and free surface elevation of liquid. A fixed baffle is the most prevailing anti-sloshing mechanism compared to the other methods. However, the additional of the baffle as the internal structure of the LNG tank can lead to frequent damages in long-term usage as this structure absorbs the sloshing loads and thus increases the maintenance cost and downtime. In this paper, a novel type of floating baffle is proposed to suppress the sloshing effect in LNG tank without the need for reconstructing the tank. The sloshing phenomenon in a membrane type LNG tank model was excited under sway motion with 30% and 50% filling condition in the model test. A regular motion by a linear actuator was applied to the tank model at different amplitudes and constant period at 1.1 seconds. Three pressure sensors were installed on the tank wall to measure the impact pressure, and a high-speed camera was utilized to record the sloshing motion. The floater baffle was modeled on the basis of uniform-discretization of domain and tested based on parametric variations. Data of pressure sensors were collected for cases without- and with-floating baffle. The results indicated successful reduction of surface run-up and impulsive pressure by using a floating baffle. The findings are expected to bring significant impacts towards safer sea transportation of LNG.

담수 이후 용담호 영양상태 변동 요인 분석 (Analysis of Trophic State Variation of Lake Yongdam in Dam Construction)

  • We have performed to analyze the trophic state resulting of Lake Yongdam as a result of water quality and nutrient concentration. Lake Yongdam is artifitial multi-purpose Dam resulting from the floods of 2001. The water quality of Lake Yongdam may affect the status of the Geum river basin including the Daecheong reservoir. It is necessary to understand the trophic state to assess water quality until stability after flooding. Water quality was surveyed using depth and hydraulic condition analysis. Further density flow was estimated for stratification and trophic state of Lake Yongdam by chlorophyll ${\alpha}$ concentration (2001~2004). And Environmental factors on chlorophyll ${\alpha}$ concentration were analyzed statistically. Trophic state was evaluated as the oligotrophic state at the main stream of the reservoir and eutrophic state at the upper stream in 2001, but evaluated as eutrophic state in 2002 and 2003 by TSI of Aizaki. From the results of multiple regression analysis using stepwise method, chlorophyll ${\alpha}$ concentration was shown to be very significant when nutrient concentration is high upon initial filling of the Dam. Chlorophyll ${\alpha}$ concentration varied according to sample site, season and year. Concentration were high in the upper stream of Lake Yongdam 4, algae bloom in these watershed were affected by location and high nutrient levels in the summer season which have in turn increased phytoplankton bloom into the reservoir.

댐 비상방류 설계기준 선정을 위한 수리수문학적 검토(II) (Hydraulic & Hydrologic Design Criteria for an Emergency Drainage of Reservoir (II))

  • 댐 운영에 있어서 저수지 초기 담수 시 또는 집중호우 등에 의한 급격한 수위 상승 방지나 운영 중에 댐체 점검 및 수리 또는 자연재해로 인한 위급한 상황 발생 등 저수지를 비워야 할 상황이 발생할 수 있으며, 이에 대한 대책으로 비상 시 방류할 계획 및 설비가 필요하다. 그러나 현재 국내에는 이러한 비상방류에 대한 기준이 미비한 실정이다. 본 연구에서는 댐 안정성 제고를 위해 유사시 저수지 저류량을 안전하게 배제시킬 수 있는 비상방류 설비를 저수지 모의 모형인 HEC-ResSim 모형을 이용하여 규모 및 배제일수에 대하여 모의하고 산정하였다. 저수지 규모에 따라 세 개의 댐에 대해 검토하였다. 대상댐은 저류용량을 기준으로 10억 $m^3$ 이상인 소양강댐과 1~10억 $m^3$ 댐으로 합천댐, 1억 $m^3$ 미만의 댐으로 대곡댐을 선정하여, 방류시설의 규모를 산정하고 배제일수를 모의하여 기준의 적정성과 적용 가능성에 대해 검토하였다.

냉각재 상실사고 분석 및 재충진 단계해석용 전산코드 개발 (LOCA Analysis and Development of a Simple Computer Code for Refill-Phase Analysis)

  • 원자로 냉각 계통의 배관 파열에 근거한 냉각재 상실 사고를 방출계수 0.4에 대하여 분석하였다. 분석은 원자로 냉각계통의 배관 파열에 의하여 발생된 감압부터 노심 복구까지의 전 과도 상태를 포함한다. 계통 열수력과 핵연료 성능 평가를 위하여 BLOWDOWN 단계에서는 RELAP4/MOD6-EM 코드와 RELAP4/MOD6-HOT CHANNEL 코드를 사용하였으며 REFLOOD 단계에서는 RELAP4/ MOD6-FLOOD 코드와 TOODEE2 코드를 각각 사용하였다. LOWER PLENUM 충전을 고려하기 위하여 DOWNCOMER에서 증기-물역방향 유동과 과열벽효과를 근사하여 간단한 해석적 모델이 개발되었다. EOB 발생시의 정보를 근거로 하여 재충전지속 시간과 초기 복구 온도가 계산되었으며 RELAP4/MOD6에 의한 분석결과와 비교하여 상당한 일치를 보였다. 또한, 조기 EOB 발생에 영향을 미치는 계통변수의 연구가 수행되어졌다. DOWNCOMER와 UPPER HEAD사이의 마찰손실이 조기 EOB 발생에 지대한 영향을 미쳤으며 적당한 마찰손실계수의 선택을 통하여 조기 EOB 발생을 방지할 수 있었다. 노심 nodalization이 여섯 개인 경우와 세 개인 경우의 분석 결과가 계통열수력학적 면에서 유사한 결과를 나타내지만, 좋은 결과를 얻기 위하여 전자의 경우가 요구된다.

컴포머 충전과정에 따른 상아질 투과도의 변화 (DENTIN PERMEABILITY CHANCE ACCORDING TO THE PROCESS OF COMPOMER RESTORATION)

  • Compomer is composed of matrix and filler : matrix is made of the combination of resins and polycarboxylic molecules that are light-cured, and a filler is a glass component which is capable of ion-release. The resin content of compomers produces polymerization shrinkage which can adversely affect marginal adaptation. Pretreatment is a fundamental step which is treated with conditioner or primer in the use of these materials. Microleakage of restorative materials has been investigated mostly by dye penetration method. Dye penetration method was not quantitative and not measured repeatedly. Fluid filtration method, introduced and developed by Pashley's group, has been extensively used for 20 years for research purpose to understand the physiology of dentin, as well as the effects of various restorative treatments on dentin permeability. It permits quantitative, nondestructive measurment of microleakage in a longitudinal manner. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the change of dentin permeability according to the process of compomer restoration. In this study. Cl V cavities were prepared on buccal surface of thirty extracted human molars. The prepared cavities were etched by 37% phosphoric acid. The experimental teeth were randomly divided into three groups. Each group was treated with following materials Group 1 : Prime & Bond NT/Dyract AP, Group2: Single Bond/F2000 compomer, Group 3 : Syntac Single Component/Compoglass. The bonding agent and compomer were applied for each group following manufacturers information. Dentin permeability of each group was measured at each process by fluid filtration method; Step 1 : preparation(smear layer). Step 2 : etching(smear layer removal), Step 3 : applying the bonding agent, Step 4 : filling the compomer. Dentin permeability was expressed by hydraulic conductance ($\mu\textrm{l}$ min$^{-1}$cm$H_2O$$^{-1}$). The data were analysed statistically using One-way ANOVA and Sheffe's method. The results were as follows : 1. Dentin permeability differences between each process were significant except between step 1 and step 2(p<0.01). 2. Dentin permeability after removal of smear layer was highly increased(p<0.01). 3. In most case, decrease of dentin permeability was obtained by applying bonding agent(p<0.01). 4. Dentin permeability differences among the experimental groups were not significant(p>0.05). 5. None of compomers used in this study showed perfect seal at the interface.
