Self-Tuning Gain-Scheduled Skyhook Control for Semi-Active Suspension System: Implementation and Experiment

  • In this paper a self-tuning gain-scheduled skyhook control for semi-active suspension systems is investigated. The dynamic characteristics of a continuously variable damper including electro-hydraulic pressure control valves is analyzed. A 2-d.o.f. time-varying quarter-car model that permits variations in sprung mass and suspension spring coefficient is considered. The self-tuning skyhook control algorithm proposed in this paper requires only the measurement of body acceleration. The absolute velocity of the sprung mass and the relative velocity of the suspension deflection are estimated by using integral filters.   • Optimal neuro-control algorithm is extended to the control of a multi-degree-of-freedom structure. An active mass driver(AMD) system on the top roof is used as an exciter. The control signals are made by a multi-layer perceptron(MLP) which is trained by minimizing a sub-optimal performance index. The performance index is a function of both the output responses and the control signals. Structure having nonlinear hysteretic behavior is also trained and controlled by using proposed control algorithm. In training neuro-controller, emulator neural network is not used. Instead, sensitivity-test data are used. Therefore, only one neural network is used for the control system. Both the time delay effect and the dynamics of hydraulic actuator are included in the simulation. Example shows that optimal neuro-control algorithm can be applicable to the multi-degree of freedom structures.

승용차의 진동해석모델 개발 (Development of the Vibration Analysis Model of Passenger Car)

  • According to the developments of automobile industry, the technology to enhance noise, vibration and harshness(NVH) performance has been studying in a point of view of ride comfort and quietness. Especially the use of computer aided engineering(CAE) simulation tools such as finite element(FE) analysis allows engineers to efficiently evaluate NVH performance. This paper presents the method to bulid FE models for full vehicle including engine, transmission. suspension and steering system, also to evaluate vibration performance of full vehicle. The full vehicle model, which is discussed, is correlated with the result of the frequency response measurement in the case of the car shake performance for high speed driving.

강인 포화 제어기의 안정성에 관한 실험적 연구 (Experimental Study on Stability of Robust Saturation Controller)

  • In our previous research, we proposed a robust saturation controller which involves both control input saturation and structured real parameter uncertainties. This controller can analytically prescribed the upper and lower bounds of parameter uncertainties, and guarantee the closed-loop robust stability of the system in the presence of actuator's saturation. And the availability and the effectiveness of the proposed robust saturation controller were verified through numerical simulations. In this paper, we verify the robust stability of this controller through experimental tests. Expecially, we show unstable cases of other controllers in comparison with this controller. Experimental tests are carried out in the laboratory using a two-story test structure with a hydraulic-type active mass damper.

  • 본 연구의 목적은 대퇴부가 절단된 다리의 생체 역학적 기능을 복구할 수 있게 하는 의지의 개발을 위하여 5축 링크, 슬관절 완충장치를 사용하여 보행시 입각기를 제어할 수 있는 대퇴 의지 시스템 개발에 있다. 이를 위하여 입각기시 대퇴의지와 지면간 접촉 중 충격 에너지 흡수를 하는 슬관절 완충장치의 기계적 특성 및 거동을 분석하였다. 임상시험을 통하여 개발된 대퇴의지의 성능을 검증한 결과 대퇴 절단 피검자들의 보행특성은 정상인의 보행에 근접한 경향을 보였다. 결론적으로 본 연구에서 개발된 입각기 대퇴의지는 입각기시 현저한 보행 안전성을 보였다.

  • 두 발을 번갈아 옮기며 몸을 앞으로 움직이는 단순한 동작의 반복으로 보이는 보행이란 과정은 실제 인체 내의 대부분의 근육 및 인대, 뼈가 연관되어 이루어지는 복잡한 행동이다. 신체 일부가 소실된 하퇴 절단자의 경우 생체조직이 온전히 보전되어 있는 일반인과는 달리 남은 생체 부위와 의지의 공학적인 성능에만 의존해 보행을 해야 한다는 어려운 상황에 직면하게 된다. 따라서 하퇴절단자를 위한 하퇴의지는 우선 환자가 기본적인 보행이 가능케 함과 동시에 최대한 복잡한 지면 상태에 적응할 수 있도록 설계가 되어야 한다. 원활한 보행을 위해서는 배/저굴 방향의 발목의 회전이 매우 중요하고 고르지 못한 지면 상태를 극복하기 위해서는 내/외전 방향의 족부의 회전 기능이 요구된다. 최근 생체역학적인 연구를 접목한 다양한 하퇴의지가 개발되고 있으나, 이러한 고가의 고성능 하퇴의지의 경우 주로 활동성이 높은 하지절단 환자들에 초점이 맞춰져 있다. 본 연구에서는 하퇴의지 착용자의 대다수인 활동성이 낮은 K2 레벨의 환자들을 위한 하퇴의지를 개발했다. 기본적인 보행 능력 향상을 위해서 배/저굴 방향으로의 회전이 가능한 유압식 발목을 개발했고, 이를 통해서 배/저굴 방향으로 각각 $2.5^{\circ}$$4^{\circ}$의 회전이 가능함을 확인했다. 또한 수동 조절이 가능한 유압 노즐을 탑재해 환자 개개인에 적합한 발목 회전 저항력을 설정할 수 있도록 설계했다. 내/외전 방향으로의 족부의 회전이 가능하도록 이중고무 방식의 중간재를 삽입해 각각 $3.6^{\circ}$$4.1^{\circ}$의 회전이 가능하도록 설계되어 측경사나 작은 장애물들을 극복할 수 있도록 제작했다. 본 연구를 통해 개발된 하퇴의지는 K2 레벨의 하퇴절단자들이 일상생활 중에 겪게 되는 다양한 지면 환경을 극복하는데 도움을 줄 것이다.

Design and Construction of GINZA KABUKIZA

  • This paper describes the structural solution for the design of a 29-story high-rise tower, which features a large office space above the Kabukiza Theatre. Kabuki is a type of Japanese traditional drama, and Kabukiza is the home building of Kabuki. GINZA KABUKIZA is the fifth generation of the Kabukiza Theatre, the first of which was built in 1889. In order to support 23 stories of office space above the theater - featuring a large void in plan - two 13-meter-deep mega-trusses, spanning 38.4 meters, are installed at the fifth floor of the building. Steelwork is used as a primary material for the structure above-ground, and a hybrid response control system using a buckling-restrained brace and oil damper is adopted in order to achieve a high seismic performance. This paper also describes the erection process of installing hydraulic jacks directly above the mega-truss at column bases, in order to keep the structure above the truss level during construction. The temple architecture of the previous Kabukiza is carefully restored by incorporating contemporary light-weight materials supported by steelwork.

  • A novel pneumatic artificial muscle actuator (PAM actuator), which has achieved increased popularity to provide the advantages such as high strength and high power/weight ratio, low cost, compactness, ease of maintenance, cleanliness, readily available and cheap power source, inherent safety and mobility assistance to humans performing tasks, has been regarded during the recent decades as an interesting alternative to hydraulic and electric actuators. In order to realize satisfactory control performance, a variable damper Magneto Rheological Brake (MRB), Is equipped to the Joint of the manipulator. Superb mixture of conventional PID controller and a phase plane switching control method brings us a novel controller. This proposed controller is appropriate for a kind of plants with nonlinearity, uncertainties and disturbances. The experiments were carried out in practical PAM manipulator and the effectiveness of the proposed control algorithm was demonstrated through experiments, which had proved that the stability of the manipulator can be improved greatly in a high gain control by using MRB with phase plane switching control method and without regard for the changes of external inertia loads.

Control of 3-D coupled responses of wind-excited tall buildings by a spatially placed TLCD system

  • The possible application of a spatially placed passive tuned liquid column damper system for suppressing coupled lateral-torsional responses of tall buildings is investigated in this paper. The wind loads acting on rectangular tall buildings are analytically expressed as 3-D stochastic model. Meanwhile, the 3-D responses of tall buildings may be coupled due to eccentricities between the stiffness and mass centers of the buildings. In these cases, torsional responses of the buildings are rather larger, and a TLCD system composed of several TLCD located near the sides of the buildings is more effective than the same TLCD placed at the building center in reducing both translational and torsional responses of the buildings. In this paper, extensive analytical and numerical work has been done to present the calculation method and optimize the parameters of such TLCD systems. The numerical examples show that the spatially placed TLCD system can reduce coupled along-wind, across-wind and torsional responses significantly with a fairly small mass ratio.
