Feature Extraction Based on Hybrid Skeleton for Human-Robot Interaction (휴먼-로봇 인터액션을 위한 하이브리드 스켈레톤 특징점 추출)

  • Human motion analysis is researched as a new method for human-robot interaction (HRI) because it concerns with the key techniques of HRI such as motion tracking and pose recognition. To analysis human motion, extracting features of human body from sequential images plays an important role. After finding the silhouette of human body from the sequential images obtained by CCD color camera, the skeleton model is frequently used in order to represent the human motion. In this paper, using the silhouette of human body, we propose the feature extraction method based on hybrid skeleton for detecting human motion. Finally, we show the effectiveness and feasibility of the proposed method through some experiments.

  • This paper discusses a skeleton feature extraction method for ubiquitous robot system. The skeleton features are used to analyze human motion and pose estimation. In different conventional feature extraction environment, the ubiquitous robot system requires more robust feature extraction method because it has internal vibration and low image quality. The new hybrid silhouette extraction method and adaptive skeleton model are proposed to overcome this constrained environment. The skin color is used to extract more sophisticated feature points. Finally, the experimental results show the superiority of the proposed method.

The intelligent robot system requires more robust silhouette extraction method because it has internal vibration and low resolution. The new hybrid silhouette extraction method is proposed to overcome this constrained environment. Finally, the experimental results show the superiority of the Proposed method.

  • In this paper, we propose the robust features extraction method of human by using the skeleton model and hybrid silhouette model. The proposed feature extraction method is divided by hands, shoulder line and elbow region extraction. We use the peer's color information to find the position of hands and propose the circle detection method to extract the shoulder line and elbow. Finally, we show the effectiveness and feasibility of the proposed method through some experiments.

  • Original binary image can be reconstructed without any distortion by MS(morphological skeleton) image. Though we reduce some points in a MS image, there is no problem to reconstruct original image by it. And then, there are two methods of LMS and GMS which reduce the redundant points of a MS image. The redundancy degree of a GMS image is zero and it is less than that of LMS. And then, GMS image is the best thing of the three kinds of morphological skeleton image to enhance the compression efficienty by the Elias code. But there are continous SKF=1 points in a GMS image whenever using 2 dimensional structureing element. Those points in a GMS image gives rise to a bad compression efficiency. And then, solving this problem, this paper proposes hybrid structuring elements algorithms for binary image compression.

Skeleton Tree for Shape-Based Image Retrieval (모양 기반 영상검색을 위한 골격 나무 구조)

  • This paper proposes a skeleton-based hierarchical shape description scheme, called a skeleton tree, for accurate shape-based image retrieval. A skeleton tree represents an object shape as a hierarchical tree where high-level nodes describe parts of coarse trunk regions and low-level nodes describe fine details of boundary regions. Each node refines the shape of its parent node. Most of the noise disturbances are limited to bottom level nodes and the boundary noise is reduced by decreasing weights on the bottom levels. The similarity of two skeleton trees is computed by considering the best match of a skeleton tree to a sub-tree of another skeleton tree. The proposed method uses a hybrid similarity measure by employing both Fourier descriptors and moment invariants in computing the similarity of two skeleton trees. Several experimental results are presented demonstrating the validity of the skeleton tree scheme for the shape description and indexing.

  • Human action recognition from a video scene has remained a challenging problem in the area of computer vision and pattern recognition. The development of the low-cost RGB depth camera (RGB-D) allows new opportunities to solve the problem of human action recognition. In this paper, we present a comprehensive review of recent approaches to human action recognition based on depth maps, skeleton joints, and other hybrid approaches. In particular, we focus on the advantages and limitations of the existing approaches and on future directions.

The intelligent robot system requires more robust silhouette extraction method because it has internal vibration and low resolution. The new hybrid silhouette extraction method is proposed to overcome this constrained environment. The temporal and gradient information is combined as hybrid silhouette. The motion region model is used to adjust combining parameters in hybrid silhouette. Finally, the experimental results show the superiority of the proposed method.

Studies on seismic performance of the new section steel beam-wall connection joint

  • This paper introduces a new hybrid structural connection joint that combines shear walls with section steel beams, fundamentally resolving the construction complexity issue of requiring pre-embedded connectors in the connection between shear walls and steel beams. Initially, a quasi-static loading scheme with load-deformation dual control was employed to conduct low-cycle repeated loading experiments on five new connection joints. Data was acquired using displacement and strain gauges to compare the energy dissipation coefficients of each specimen. The destruction process of the new connection joints was meticulously observed and recorded, delineating it into three stages. Hysteresis curves and skeleton curves of the joint specimens were plotted based on experimental results, summarizing the energy dissipation performance of the joints. It's noteworthy that the addition of shear walls led to an approximate 17% increase in the energy dissipation coefficient. The energy dissipation coefficients of dog-bone-shaped connection joints with shear walls and cover plates reached 2.043 and 2.059, respectively, exhibiting the most comprehensive hysteresis curves. Additionally, the impact of laminated steel plates covering composite concrete floors on the stiffness of semi-rigid joint ends under excessive stretching should not be disregarded. A comparison with finite element analysis results yielded an error of merely 2.2%, offering substantial evidence for the wide-ranging application prospects of this innovative joint in seismic performance.

Experimental research on seismic behavior of SRC-RC transfer columns

  • It was found that the lateral stiffness changes obvious at the transfer position of the section configuration from SRC to RC. This particular behavior leads to that the transfer columns become as the important elements in SRC-RC hybrid structures. A comprehensive study was conducted to investigate the seismic behavior of SRC-RC transfer columns based on a low cyclic loading test of 16 transfer columns compared with 1 RC column. Test results shows three failure modes for transfer columns, which are shear failure, bond failure and bend failure. Its seismic behavior was completely analyzed about the failure mode, hysteretic and skeleton curves, bearing capacity deformation ability, stiffness degradation and energy dissipation. It is further determined that displacement ductility coefficient of transfer columns changes from 1.97 to 5.99. The stiffness of transfer columns are at the interval of SRC and RC, and hence transfer columns can play the role of transition from SRC to RC. All specimens show similar discipline of stiffness degradation and the process can be divided into three parts. Some specimens of transfer column lose bearing capacity swiftly after shear cracking and showed weak energy dissipation ability, but the others show better ability of energy dissipation than RC column.
