we have investigated the field emission characteristics of the CNT/TEOS hybrid thin films fabricated by a spray method. It is found that the CNT/TEOS hybrid emitters show high current density, low turn on field, and long-term emission stability compared to the CNT emitters. These efficient field emission characteristics of the CNT/TEOS hybrid emitters are attributed to the TEOS sol, acting as a protection layer of nanotube emitter by surrounding the nanotube tip as well as a binder material to enhance the adhesion of nanotube emitters to the substrate. Therefore, the CNT/TEOS hybrid emitters could be utilized as an alternative for the efficient and reliable field emitters.

Pure-carbon materials such as graphite, graphene, carbon nanotubes, and diamond have very high thermal conductivities. The reported thermal conductivity of graphene is in the range 3000~5000W/m-K at room temperature. Here, we developed graphene/cu foam hybrid type heat spreader to obtain higher thermal conductivity than Cu foam. Hybrid materials were characterized using optical microscopy (OM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and thermal conductivity measurement system; LFA (Laser Flash Analysis @ LFA 447, NETZSCH). We suggest that excellent thermal properties of graphene/cu foam hybrid structures are beneficial for all proposed electrical applications and can lead to a thermal management application.

In this study, a sweep gas - vacuum hybrid type membrane degassing process was proposed for ammonia wastewater treatment. In addition, the ammonia selective recovery of the hybrid type membrane degassing process was also investigated. As a result, the hybrid type membrane degassing process showed better degassing performance (54.9 mg NH3/m2min for 360 min) than the sweep gas type (32.3 mg NH3/m2min) or vacuum type (22 mg NH3/m2min). Additionally, the hybrid type membrane degassing process showed an excellent ammonia selectivity (103 times compared to Na+ Na+, 133 times compared to Ca2+). The ammonia selectivity was appeared to be due to the conversion characteristics of ammonium ion / dissolved ammonia depending on pH. The results in this study are expected to be used in the development of ammonia wastewater treatment and ammonia recovery in the future.

Sophisticated polymeric materials with 'responsive' properties are beginning to reach the market. The use of reversible, noncovalent interactions is a recurring design principle for responsive materials. Recently developed hydrogen-bonding units allow this design principle to be taken to its extreme. Supramolecular polymers, where hydrogen bonds are the only force keeping the monomers together, form materials whose (mechanical) properties respond strongly to a change in temperature or solvent. In this review, we describe some examples of hydrogen-bonded supramolecular polymers that can be utilized for self-healing materials. Synthesis of a rubber-like material that can be recycled might not seem exciting. But one that can also repeatedly repair itself at room temperature, without adhesives, really stretches the imagination. Autonomic healing materials respond without external intervention to environmental stimuli in a nonlinear and productive fashion, and have great potential for advanced engineering systems.
Objectives: The aim of this study was to investigate the microshear bond strength (${\mu}SBS$) of different universal adhesive systems applied to hybrid computer-aided design/computer-aided manufacturing (CAD-CAM) restorative materials repaired with a composite resin. Materials and Methods: Four types of CAD-CAM hybrid block materials-Lava Ultimate (LA), Vita Enamic (VE), CeraSmart (CS), and Shofu Block HC (SH)-were used in this study, in combination with the following four adhesive protocols: 1) control: porcelain primer + total etch adhesive (CO), 2) Single Bond Universal (SB), 3) All Bond Universal (AB), and 4) Clearfil Universal Bond (CU). The ${\mu}SBS$ of the composite resin (Clearfil Majesty Esthetic) was measured and the data were analyzed using two-way analysis of variance and the Tukey test, with the level of significance set at p < 0.05. Results: The CAD-CAM block type and block-adhesive combination had significant effects on the bond strength values (p < 0.05). Significant differences were found between the following pairs of groups: VE/CO and VE/AB, CS/CO and CS/AB, VE/CU and CS/CU, and VE/AB and CS/AB (p < 0.05). Conclusions: The ${\mu}SBS$ values were affected by hybrid block type. All tested universal adhesive treatments can be used as an alternative to the control treatment for repair, except the AB system on VE blocks (the VE/AB group). The ${\mu}SBS$ values showed variation across different adhesive treatments on different hybrid CAD-CAM block types.
In order to develop materials with a low environmental load for restoring the destroyed forest, seven types of wood-concrete hybrid laminated materials were manufactured with four softwoods, three hardwoods and concrete, and the effect of wood density on bending creep property was investigated. The bending creep curves showed a shape to considerably increase at the upper right side, and the curves were found to show a linear behavior beyond about 30 min - 1 hour, as behaviors of solid woods and wood-based materials. The initial compliances of wood-concrete hybrid-laminated materials decreased with an increase in the wood density, and those values showed 0.9 - 1.2 times of the concrete one. The creep compliances of hybrid laminated materials showed very low values, which were 0.4 - 0.8 times of the concrete ones. The relative creep were very low with a range from 8.2% to 17.0% range, which were 0.3 - 0.7 times of the concrete ones. These results indicate that these materials can be applied for restoring the destroyed forest to reduce creep deformation of the conventional concrete materials by hybrid-laminating concrete and woods.

This study was performed to investigate the material behavior of hybrid thermoplastic composites contained glass fiber and calcium carbonate. The composite was prepared with each combination ratio of calcium carbonate, and the content of glass fiber was fixed with 10% by weight. In order to investigate the material behavior for various combination ratio, tension test, flexural test, and impact test were performed. Microscopic observation were conducted to examine the fractured surface of specimen for tension test. And the material behavior of the hybrid thermoplastic composite immersed in salt water with definite time was investigated.
Colloidally stable organic-inorganic (O-I) hybrid nanoparticles could be prepared using an alkoxysilanefunctionalized amphiphilic polymer (AFAP) precursor. O-I hybrid sols could maintain colloidal stability for six months even at 45% solid content and be coated onto glass as well as PET film to form transparent O-I hybrid films. The formation of O-I hybrid nanoparticles dispersed in cured coating films could be confirmed using scanning electron microscopy. The cured coating film showed 3H and 5H pencil hardness on PET and glass, respectively. Nanoindentation measurements also showed that their modulus and hardness was varied with the type of AFAP used in its preparation.
This paper proposes a hybrid-excited linear synchronous motor (LSM) that has potential applications in a magnetically levitated vehicle. The levitation and thrust force characteristics of the LSM are investigated by means of three-dimensional (3-D) numerical electromagnetic FEM calculations and experimental verification. Compared to a conventional LSM with electromagnets, a hybrid-excited LSM can improve levitation force/weight ratios, and reduce the power consumption of the vehicle. Because the two-dimensional (2-D) FE analysis model describes only the center section of the physical device, it cannot express the complex behavior of leakage flux, which this study is able to predicts along with levitation and thrust force characteristics by 3-D FEM calculations. A static force tester for a hybrid-excited LSM has been manufactured and tested in order to verify these predictions. The experimental results confirm the validity of the 3-D FEM calculation scheme for the description of a hybrid-excited LSM.

$Ti_2AlN$ composites are a laminated compounds that posses unique combination of typical ceramic properties and typical metallic(Ti alloy) properties. In this paper, the powder synthesis, SPS sintering, composite characteristics and machinability evaluation were systematically conducted. The random orientation characteristics and good crystallization of the $Ti_2AlN$ phase are observed. The electrical and thermal conductivity of $Ti_2AlN$ is higher than that of Ti6242 alloy. A machining test was carried out to compare the effect of material properties on micro electrical discharge drilling for $Ti_2AlN$ composite and Ti6242 alloy. Also, mixture table as a kind of tables of orthogonal arrays was used to know how parameter is main effective at experimental design. Consequently, hybrid $Ti_2AlN$ ceramic composites showed good machining time and electrode wear shape under micro ED-drilling process. This conclusion proves the feasibility in the industrial applications.
