  • In today's Pay TV market, the importance of TPS for Pay TV operators is increasing rapidly. IP Hybrid services are essential for satellite broadcasters. This paper explains the various digital satellite broadcasting service trend, especially IP based hybrid service approach of satellite broadcasters(BskyB, CanalSat, DirecTV, etc.). Also this paper introduces SkyLife IP hybrid business approach to achieve a strong leadership in Pay TV market and related IP convergence market in Korea.

  • Track circuit is a simple electrical device which lies in the connection of the two rails by the wheels and axle of locomotives and rolling stock to short out an electrical circuit, used to detect the absence of a train on rail tracks. In railway signaling system, there are similar systems such as RFID and wheel sensor, GPS etc, are research and developing. Hybrid track circuit is using RFID antenna and reader on the cab and RFID tag on the sleeper. because of the safety in railway operation, tag detection of train position detection function in the hybrid track circuit needs high reliability. This paper studied tag recognition enhancement used tag angles.

  • In this paper we propose a hybrid position/force controller of a robot manipulator using feedback error learning rule and neural networks. The neural network is constructed from inverse dynamics. The weighting value of each neuron is trained by using a feedback force as an error signal. If the neural networks are sufficiently trained well, it does not require the feedback-loop with error signals. The effectiveness of the proposed hybrid position/force controller is demonstrated by computer simulation using PUMA 560 manipulator.

  • In this paper, a hybrid neural network is proposed to improve the learning ability of a neural network. The union of the characteristics of a Self-Organizing Neural Network model and of multi-layer perceptron model using the backpropagation learning method gives us the advantage of reduction of the learning error and the learning time. In learning process, the proposed hybrid neural network reduces the number of nodes in hidden layers to reduce the calculation time. And this proposed neural network uses the fuzzy feedback values, when it updates the responding region of each node in the hidden layer. To show the effectiveness of this proposed hybrid neural network, the boolean function(XOR, 3Bit Parity) and the solution of inverse kinematics are used. Finally, this proposed hybrid neural network is applied to the visual tracking control of a PUMA560 robot, and the result data is presented.

  • This paper presents a novel single converter and single inverter (1Con-1Inv) topology for photovoltaic (PV)-fuel cell (FC) hybrid system and a new control scheme for the PV-FC hybrid system is then proposed. The new topology and the unique algorithm can minimize volume and production cost of the hybrid system. Moreover, system efficiency can improve due to reduction of losses of hardware components and other control factors are well regulated using just 1Con-1Inv with the help of the proposed control algorithm. The validity of proposed algorithm is verified both computer simulation using PSIM and Matlab/Simulink program and experimental with 700W of PV and 600W of FC system.

The Virtual Robot Arm Control Method by EMG Pattern Recognition using the Hybrid Neural Network System (혼합형 신경회로망을 이용한 근전도 패턴 분류에 의한 가상 로봇팔 제어 방식)

  • This paper presents a method of virtual robot arm control by EMG pattern recognition using the proposed hybrid system. The proposed hybrid system is composed of the LVQ and the SOFM, and the SOFM is used for the preprocessing of the LVQ. The SOFM converts the high dimensional EMG signals to 2-dimensional data. The EMG measurement system uses three surface electrodes to acquire the EMG signal from operator. Six hand gestures can be classified sufficiently by the proposed hybrid system. Experimental results are presented that show the effectiveness of the virtual robot arm control by the proposed hybrid system based classifier for the recognition of hand gestures from EMG signal patterns.

A Harmonic Suppressed Design of Size Reduced Ring-Hybrid Using Folded Line Structure (소형화 및 고조파 특성이 개선된 접힌 구조의 링-하이브리드의 설계)

  • Folded lines are applied to design a compact microstrip ring hybrid. Using the proposed structure we achieve both significant size reduction and good harmonic suppression with the same results of conventional ring hybrid at 2.41 GHz. Including the third harmonic frequency, up to 11 GHz band harmonics are suppressed to -20 dB. The size of the proposed ring-hybrid is reduced to one forth of the conventional ring hybrid. The measured frequency responses agree well with simulated ones.
