  • This paper suggests teaching philosophy of technology in engineering ethics class, as a realistic solution for convergence education of engineering and humanities. First, the need for convergence between engineering and humanities are presented, which is followed by the analysis of the current convergence education in Korea, especially since the introduction of the ABEEK. Third, the proposal for teaching philosophy of technology in engineering ethics will be presented, together with the expected effect of such a trial. Finally, the actual implementation of this curricula will be introduced. In 2008 and 2009, the engineering ethics course in Handong Global University adopted this proposal. • Communication as a process of interpreting signs has always existed in people's life. In post-information society, the communication between a person and a technological system through the specific sign-attaching process becomes widespread. Moreover, it somehow replaces usual communication between people. One of the means of communication in the digital space are video games. They not only play an important role in communication processes, but also are a special case of sign-creating and interpreting. The purpose of the article is to examine video games as a space of sign-based communication between a person and a game as a specific digital system. With the help of general scientific and hermeneutic methodology, the analysis of video games as a post-information society phenomenon which people communicate to has been conducted. The process of semiosis as attaching special meanings to signs has been traced in both manipulating in-game objects and characters and understanding rules of an in-game world.

  • Convergence science research is activated, and digital humanities research is also encouraged in humanities. Therefore, this study attempted to propose a experimental study that applies Text mining and Entitymetrics methods to historical materials. Annals of King Seonjo, revised Annals of King Seonjo, Miscellaneous Record of the War and Writings on Imjin War were used, also network analysis and DMR topic models were used to explore topic changes and common entities in historical sources. Through the results, it was possible to propose the availability of quantitative analysis for text data, presenting a timing change of a specific topic, and an undiscovered relationship between person entities.
