Many people now agree that not only basic medicine and clinical medicine but also medical humanities is needed in medical education. The aims of medical humanities education should dawn now. 'Medical humanities' can be roughly defined as "the interdisciplinary study and activity at the intersection of the humanities, social science, arts, and medicine." People tend to assume that the aim of medical humanities education is to produce good doctors, that is, physicians who contribute to society. Actually, cultivating good doctors is one of the proper aims of medical humanities education. In addition to it, another aim of medical humanities education should be cultivating happy doctors. Nowadays, many of Korea's physicians feel unhappy. In such a situation, medical humanities education should be aimed at developing happiness in medical trainees.

  • Digital Humanities System is a method to effectively share and spread Humanities information and knowledge to users by using information technology. It Also comes into the spotlight as a new research methodology for researches of Humanities researchers. Digital Humanities System distinguishes itself from other existing information systems. Therefore, when the system is developed, it needs to supply with manpower related to development process which is specialized for Digital Humanities System, not for the several established construction methodology. Digital Humanities System studies recently is mostly constructed using the usual methodology of information system construction. Because of its falling efficiency and usability after constructing the system, however, examples of failure of operating system occur. In this paper, accordingly, effective and creative Digital Humanities System development methodology will be studied from the point of view of information technology through collaboration with various field of expertise. In detail, based on information system methodologies in software engineering perspective, we propose a methodology to build a specialized system in the digital humanities.

  • This paper aimed to explore research trends for the conceptualization of IT humanities. Reflecting domestic and international references which focused on the possibility of the integration of digital technology and humanities, the authors examined the beginning, background, and relevant concepts of IT humanities to figure out the meaning and the research trends. In addition, using the search word "IT humanities," the authors analyzed network topics of the keywords retrieved from 1,566 KCI and 64 SCI journal articles published since 2001. The concept of IT humanities in the previous studies has tended to associate with competencies that allow considering various fields of IT based on the lens of humanities perspectives. The result of the topic modeling revealed four groups as fields to be integrated with IT humanities, methods of implementation, connections of literature or culture, and creations of IT humanities. Instead of instrumentalization or merger by one stance of IT or humanities, it is imperative to collaboratively work for the generation of a new viewpoint through mutual respect of disciplines.

Methods : The course was taught to second- and third-year Korean medicine students. The classes were held eight times a semester for second-year students and 9 times for third-year students, and each class was held once a week for 2 hours. Formative and summative assessments, group and individual assignments, and peer assessments were conducted to evaluate educational effectiveness, as well as basic lecture evaluations and satisfaction surveys. Results : Most of the students who took Medical humanities showed a performance rate of more than 60-70% in the cognitive aspect, and the total score was 14.48 with a standard deviation of 2.70 in the knowledge application stage. In terms of class satisfaction, students in Medical humanities I were more satisfied with the evaluation criteria and class management expertise, while students in Medical humanities II were most satisfied with the class organization, with an average score of 4.86/5. Conclusions : It was confirmed that students' humanities improved in cognitive, affective, and psychological aspects after medical humanities courses, and future research should be conducted on the long-term educational effects of medical humanities, effective teaching methods, and evaluation methods.

  • Over the last half-century, computer science has revolutionarily changed the landscape of humanities research. This digital shift in research methodology has reached from the brainstorming process to preserving, constructing, collecting, visualizing, and even analyzing materials. Such transformation has brought about the birth of the new field of study: Digital Humanities (DH). DH undeniably has saved much of the physical chores and provided a new angle to interpret the text, thereby making its meteoric rise as a promising future of the humanities. Based on such innovation, electronic circuitry can seem to replace the imagination that detects relationships and significances of research data with ever-improving interfaces. However, despite hitherto technological development, the thousands-year-old essence of traditional liberal arts-human creativity-remains the heart of humanities research and always will. This paper starts by proving this proposition in the way of comparing the old and new liberal arts research methods, focusing on literary studies. Meanwhile, it thoroughly investigates how digitalized bibliographies, search engines, databases, and digital projects provide the most useful data preservation and virtual experience of browsing in the library, along with their limitations due to the intrinsic quality of humanities research data. Also, it probes the differences between traditional and digital data analysis in current methods of literary studies, ultimately presenting the ideal direction for humanities development in the era of digital convergence.

This task will examine the scholarly nature of the 'miner humanities in the subject area rather than other areas of the humanities. Therefore, the goal of this study is first to investigate the nature of the academic mind humanities, and then to explore the practical challenges as well as possible reasons that the mind humanities should be educationally approached in a self-cultivated perspective.

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study was to examine the curriculum of the medical humanities and social medicine at 11 Colleges of Korean Medicine (CKM) based on the Korean Medicine Education Accreditation Standards 2021 (KAS2021) and suggest ways to improve the quality of Korean Medical education in the future. Methods: The curricula for each grade were collected from the websites of 11 CKM. Based on KAS2021, medical humanities and social medicine courses were extracted and compiled. Courses offered, frequency of course offerings, time of offerings, credits, and course hours were investigated. Results: Courses in languages and literature were most frequently offered in CKM. Most medical humanities and social medicine courses were offered in the pre-medical program and the fourth year of the medical program and were conducted as individual courses. Developing a curriculum that integrates conceptual definitions of the medical humanities and social medicine with basic and clinical studies is necessary. Conclusion: Eleven CKM should reorganize and operate their medical humanities and social medicine curricula based on each college's circumstances. This will allow each college to improve the quality of its educational offerings, creating a foundation for fostering excellent korean medicine doctors with professional medical skills and communication skills.

  • This study begins with a question about research methods in humanities. It is grounded in the humanities, focusing on the changes that have brought light and darkness to the humanities, and focusing on discourse regarding research methods that explore those changes. If the role of the humanities is to prevent the proverbial "gray rhino," unlike the sciences, and if the humanities have a role to play in moderating the uncontrollable development of the sciences, what kind of research methods should humanities pursue. Furthermore, what kind of research methods should be pursued in the humanities, in line with the development of the sciences and the changing environment? This study discusses research methods in the humanities as follows: first, in Section 2, I advocate for the collaboration between humanities and scientific methods, utilizing accumulated assets produced by humanities and continuously introducing scientific methods. Prediction of change is highly precise and far-reaching in engineering and the natural sciences. However, it is difficult to approach change in these fields in a macro or integrated manner. Because they are not precise, they are not welcome in disciplines that deal with the real world. This is primarily the responsibility of humanities. Where science focuses on precision, humanities focuses on questions of essence. This is because while the ends of change have varied throughout history, the nature of change has not varied that much. Section 3 then discusses the changing environment, proposals for changes to humanistic research methods, reviews and proposals inductive change research methods, and makes some suggestions for humanistic change research. The data produced by the field of humanities accumulated by humankind in the past is abundant and has a wide range of applications. In the future, we should not only actively accept the results of scientific advances but also actively seek systematic humanistic approaches and utilize them across disciplinary boundaries to find solutions at the intersection of scientific methods and humanistic assets.
