Behavioral motivation-based Action Selection Mechanism with Bayesian Affordance Models (베이지안 행동유발성 모델을 이용한 행동동기 기반 행동 선택 메커니즘)

  • A robot must be able to generate various skills to achieve given tasks intelligently and reasonably. The robot must first learn affordances to generate the skills. An affordance is defined as qualities of objects or environments that induce actions. Affordances can be usefully used to generate skills. Most tasks require sequential and goal-oriented behaviors. However, it is usually difficult to accomplish such tasks with affordances alone. To accomplish such tasks, a skill is constructed with an affordance and a soft behavioral motivation switch for reflecting goal-oriented elements. A skill calculates a behavioral motivation as a combination of both presently perceived information and goal-oriented elements. Here, a behavioral motivation is the internal condition that activates a goal-oriented behavior. In addition, a robot must be able to execute sequential behaviors. We construct skill networks by using generated skills that make action selection feasible to accomplish a task. A robot can select sequential and a goal-oriented behaviors using the skill network. For this, we will first propose a method for modeling and learning Bayesian networks that are used to generate affordances. To select sequential and goal-oriented behaviors, we construct skills using affordances and soft behavioral motivation switches. We also propose a method to generate the skill networks using the skills to execute given tasks. Finally, we will propose action-selection-mechanism to select sequential and goal-oriented behaviors using the skill network. To demonstrate the validity of our proposed methods, "Searching-for-a-target-object", "Approaching-a-target-object", "Sniffing-a-target-object", and "Kicking-a-target-object" affordances have been learned with GENIBO (pet robot) based on the human teaching method. Some experiments have also been performed with GENIBO using the skills and the skill networks.

  • A mechanical system controlled by human operator, such as master-slave system, includes human dynamics in the whole system and such a system is called a human-machine system. In the system, operator's skill is required considerably in order to realize a meaningful operation. In this paper, a new concept and design strategy of compensator that improves the operativity of human-machine system are proposed. The compensator is called "collaborater "that is named after "collaborator" who works together with people. We mean not to design the automatic controller but the compensator that works together with a machine so that human feels the fulfillment in the operation. Our aim is to realize cooperation of people and a machine on a higher level.

Relationship between Core Job Characteristics and Attitude of Small Business Employees (소상공인의 핵심직무특성과 태도의 관계)

  • For certify job characteristic affecting attitude of employee, this study is to examine the relationship between core job characteristics(skill variety, task identity, task significance, autonomy, feedback) and attitude(job satisfaction, organizational commitment, turnover intention) of small business from a 'human resource management' point of view. Concretely, it is confirmed whether how influence of ore job characteristics on attitude and whether there is a moderating effect of growth needs of strength between core job characteristics and attitude of small business. The results of regression analysis using 315 domestic employees are as followings. First, it is confirmed that the skill variety and task significance has influence on job satisfaction positively, skill variety and feedback has influence on organizational commitment positively, and skill variety and feedback has influence on turnover intention negatively. Second, there is moderating effect only the relationship between task significance and turnover intention. On the basis of these study results, it suggested strategic implications to job design and business strategy for heightening attitude of small business employees.

Variation of Psychophysiological Characteristics Related with Human Errors during a Simple Pointing Task (단순 지적과업 중 인간과오 관련 심리생리학적 특성의 변화)

  • During a learning process, a human being is assumed to experience knowledge-based behaviors, rule-based behaviors, and skill-based behaviors sequentially if Rasmussen was right. If any psycho-physiological symptom to those different levels can be obtained, it can be useful as a measure whether a human being is fully trained and has gotten a skill in his work. Therefore, this study aimed to draw relationships between human performance measures and psycho-physiological measures while committing a computer-simulated pointing task by utilizing the power spectrum technique of EEG data, especially with the ratio of relative beta-to-alpha band power. The result showed that, during correct responses, the ratio came to stabilize as all the performance data went stable. However, response time was not a simple linear function of task difficulty level only, but a joint function of task characteristics as well as behavior levels. Comparing relative band power ratios from errors and correct responses, activated states of one's brain could be explained, and characteristics of the task could understood. To tell that of pointing task, correlations around C3, C4, P3, P4 and 01, 02 area were significant and high in correct response cases whereas most correlation coefficients went down in error cases standing for imbalance of psycho-motor functions. Though task difficulty was the only one factor that could influence on relative band power ratio with statistical significance, it should be comprehended to mean a different way of expression indicating task characteristics since at least error-some situation could be explained with the help of relative band power ratio that absolute band power failed.

  • This paper has expressed human's motion data into orthogonal parameters in low dimension, and created new motion data through this. We have reconstructed a new model consisting of orthogonal parameters from dividing human body data into three parts - hand, leg, and body to make new motions. Mixing these parts of body from different motions has leaded to new good motion data. It will be possible to use this motion editing not only for Animation Technology, but also for a three dimensional gesture recognition skill.

  • Kendo is one of the popular sports in modem life. Head, wrist and thrust attack are the fast skill to get a score on a match. Human muscle skeletal model was developed for biomechanical study. The human model was consists with 19 bone-skeleton and 122 muscles. Muscle number of upper limb, trunk and lower limb part are 28, 60, 34 respectively. Bone was modeled with 3D beam element and muscle was modeled with spar element. For upper limb muscle modelling, rectus abdominis, trapezius, deltoideus, biceps brachii, triceps brachii muscle and other main muscles were considered. Lower limb muscle was modeled with gastrocenemius, gluteus maximus, gluteus medius and related muscles. The biomechanical stress and strain analysis of human muscle was conducted by proposed human bone-muscle finite element analysis model under head, wrist and thrust attack for kendo training.

  • This study aimed at adult learners attended in a Junior college's Bachelor's degree course who experience job-related, relationship-related dimensions in the work life which affect the intention to skill development identified a mechanism that affects an person-job fit, person-supervisor fit relationship between conformity and intention to skill-development in the job satisfaction of the effects of the parameters was assessed. Results of this study validate the hypothesis First, person-job fit, person-supervisor fit job satisfaction the suitability appeared to affect significantly Second, job satisfaction continues to assist in the intention to skill development also appeared to influence. Third, job satisfaction fully mediated the suitability of the intention to skill development even appeared to affect the person-supervisor fit also fully mediated by job satisfaction continues to assist in the skill development affect showed that effect.   • The aim of this study is to review previous studies on human errors in the service delivery processes. Service industry is sharply growing in the advanced countries. Many people are looking for something to contribute to the service industry. Although there are many research topics related to service domain that human factors and ergonomics specialists can do contribute, a few researchers are studying such topics. This paper indicated how previous researches on human factors and human errors have addressed the service domain, in order to prompt human factor study on the service domain. A variety of sources were inspected for literature reviews, including books and journals of managements, medicine, psychology, consumer behavior as well as human factor and ergonomics. The characteristics of human errors in the service domain were investigated. Human error studies in several service sectors were summarized such as medical service, automotive service operation, travel agent service and call center service. Until now, human factors community was not much interested in human errors in service domain. However, there is much space to contribute to service domain; human error identification, human error analysis and control of human error. The research of human error in service domain can provide clues to improve service quality. This paper helps to guide to identify human error of service domain and to design service systems.
