  • This paper focused on examining the middle school students' perceptions of characteristics(personal knowledge, human responsibility, impact on personal life, and predicted trend, behavior will) of 10 global and 8 local environmental issues. Subjects(N=516) demonstrated by completing a survey that they perceived the characteristics of issues differently on global and local scales, and to a degree those characteristics are related. First, middle school students' perceptions of global and local environmental issues were above mid-point mainly, and perceptions of local environmental issues were higher than those of global environmental issues. At perceptions of characteristics, They perceived that the personal knowledge of global environmental issues were higher than those of local issues, that the human responsibility effects on global environmental issues more than local environmental issues, that global environmental issues in the future, will be more serious. For each environmental issues, the perception of global warming among the global issues was highest, the perception of yellow dust and air pollution among the local issues was highest. For perceptions of characteristics, behavior will to solve the environmental issues was lower than that of 4 characteristics(personal knowledge, human responsibility, impact on personal life, and predicted trend). Second, there was significant difference of the perceptions of two scale environmental issues for area and sex. It showed that Seoul students' perceptions were higher than Kong-ju students' perceptions according to area, and that girl students' perceptions were higher than boy students' perceptions according to sex. Third, correlations among issues were significant. Especially, it was positive relationship between knowledge and human responsibility, human responsibility and impact on personal human responsibility and predicted trend. Educators and communicators should take into account the perceived characteristics of environmental issues and choose effective information sources and teaching methods to improve students' understanding of human-induced environmental changes.

And results showed that individual growth, institutional necessity, and overall perceptions of marriage varied by grade. Second, higher levels of perceptions of marriage among university students were significantly correlated with greater university student's identity, better parent's marital relationship. Third, the personal relations was most influential variable on university student's perceptions of marriage, followed by the parent's conflict and authority the mother's duties, followed by the target orientating, gender and grade. Overall, results suggest that parent's marital relationship is important for promotion of positive perceptions of marriage among university students. Also, systematic analysis of university student's identity and programs to address such problems are needed.

While advances in technology commonly works for the welfare and benefit of humankind, paradoxically in some instances could have negative outcomes on interrelations among individuals, minimizing face-to-face communication. The perceptions, so ideas of the individuals on the matter could differ depending on their age, gender, race and the culture beyond their relative intimacy and closeness to ICT tools. In order to penetrate the basic initiatives leading the perceptions of adolescents on the effects of technological improvements on human interrelations/ communication, a survey is conducted with 157 students in high education consisting of Asian, African, Cypriot, Turkish nationals. Results indicate that participants use technological tools for communication which lessens their face-to-face interaction. However they prefer social media more than face-to-face communication during conflict or undesirable situations.

  • The direct impacts of individual materialism on price perceptions and price perceptions on patronage behavior have been limited in previous research. This study examined the impact of materialism on consumer perceptions of clothing price and the influence that price perceptions have on store patronage by consumers. Using factor analysis and stepwise regression analysis, results indicated that materialistic values revealed four factors (pursuit of happiness, acquisition centrality, success, and practical-consuming). Materialistic four values influence consumer attitudes toward the positive and negative roles of price. In turn, patronage is predicted by positive and negative price-perception. Implications and future research directions are also discussed.

  • As consumers' interest in social responsibility (SR) has greatly increased in the last two decades, a growing body of academic research has examined the influence of consumers' environmental consciousness on their attitudes and purchase intentions toward environment-friendly apparel products. Use of environment-friendly shopping bags (EFSB; recycled and reusable bags) is an example of how apparel retailers engage in SR. However, little research has examined consumers' perceptions and their responses to the use of EFSB. To fill this research gap, this study examined the impact of young consumers' perceptions of EFSB and environmental consciousness on their attitudes and purchase intentions toward apparel retailers using EFSB. An online survey was conducted for data collection. A convenience sample of 212 college students was obtained from a large mid-Southern university in the U.S. A simple linear regression analysis was conducted to test all hypotheses. Results showed that young consumers' perceptions of EFSB positively influenced their environmental consciousness and their attitudes toward apparel retailers that use EFSB, which led to purchase intentions toward the retailers. Findings confirmed that young consumers placed a great degree of importance on EFSB and, therefore, would purchase apparel from retailers that use recycled or reusable shopping bags. These findings imply that providing EFSB is important in enhancing positive attitudes and purchase intentions toward apparel retailers.

  • Environmental stressors considerably influence the health and safety of humans and must thus be continuously monitored to enhance the urban environments and associated safety. Environmental stressors typically act as stimuli and lead to behavioral changes that can be easily identified. These behavioral responses can thus be used as indicators to clarify people's perceptions of environmental stressors. Therefore, in this study, a framework for assessing environmental stressors based on human behavioral responses was developed. A preliminary experiment was conducted to investigate the feasibility of the framework. Human behavioral and physiological data were collected using wearable sensors, and a survey was performed to determine the psychological responses. Humans were noted to consistently exhibit changes in the movement and speed in the presence of physical environmental stressors, as physiological and psychological responses. The results demonstrated the potential of using behavioral responses as indicators of the human perceptions toward environmental stressors. The proposed framework can be used for urban environment monitoring to enhance the quality and safety.
