  • Many countries in the North East Asia are competing with each other in order to become a centre of international logistics activities. The competition to become a hub port in Far East region is now fierce. The anticipated investments on improving port facilities and attracting the mega carriers are immense for all the ports in the region and the extent of the effort could cripple the local ports and region's economy given the limited financial resources. It is, however, impossible to avoid the disastrous possibility that the massive investments could be channeled into the port, which will never become a hub port, as no port is ready to currently admit defeat and settle as a small regional port. In an attempt to minimise such disastrous waste of resources, ports need to verify the eligibility of their own. This paper tests a system dynamics model using the Port of Busan to understand and illustrate the principle guideline of investment decision making for ports.

  • Hub bearings not only sustain the body of a car, but permit wheels to rotate freely. Excessive radial or axial load and many other reasons can cause defects to be created and grown in each component. Therefore, vibration and noise from unwanted defects in outer-race, inner-race or ball elements of a Hub bearing are what we want to detect as early as possible. How early we can detect the faults has to do with how the detection algorithm finds the fault information from measured signal. Fortunately, the bearing signal has periodic impulse train. This information allows us to find the faults regardless how much noise contaminates the signal. This paper shows the basic signal processing idea and experimental results that demonstrate how good the method is.

  • Acoustic behavior in baffled combustion chambers is numerically investigated by adopting linear acoustic analysis. Partial blade baffle, which is a variant of blade baffle, and hub-blade baffle with six blades are employed as baffle models. Through modal analysis, natural frequencies of each acoustic mode in baffled chambers are calculated and the reduction in natural frequencies caused by baffle installation is examined. Through harmonic analysis, acoustic pressure responses of each chamber to acoustic oscillating excitation are shown. The first tangential mode is found to be most sensitive to acoustic oscillation. Acoustic damping effect of baffle is quantified by damping factor. Damping effect of hub-blade baffle is the most appreciable and damping factor of partial blade baffle is much lower than that of blade baffle. Damping effect of six-blade baflle on the second tangential mode is as much as on the first tangential mode and hub-blade baffle can damp out appreciably the first tangential as well as the first radial mode with the aid of hub.

  • A wind turbine obtains its power input by converting the force of the wind into a torque (turning force) acting on the rotor blades. The amount of energy which the wind transfers to the rotor depends on the density of the air, the rotor area, and the wind speed. Because it has long term operating life and very complex load condition, the fatigue strength of each component must be considered. In this paper, we calculated the load condition by wind using a combined blade elemental theory and a FEM based analytical approach was use to evaluate the fatigue strength of a Hub of wind turbine. The effect of tensile mean stress was taken into account by the modified Goodman diagram. Using this approaches, we evaluated the fatigue strength of hub and main shaft and improved the design.

  • This paper suggests the new technology to control metal flow in orther to change of the cold forging from conventional deep drawing forming. This technology can be summarized the complex forming, which consists of bulk forming and sheet forming, and multi-action forging, which be performed double action press. The proposed technology is applied to hub clutch model which is part of auto-transmission for automobile. The purpose of this study is to investigate the material flow behavior of hub clutch through control the relative velocity ratio and the stroke of mandrel and punch using the flow forming technique. First of all, the finite element simulations are applied to analyse optimal process conditions to prevent flow defect(necking defect etc.) from non-uniform metal flow, then the results are compared with the plasticine model material experiments. The punch load for real material is predict from similarity law. Finally, the model material experiment results are in good agreement with the FE simulation ones.

  • This paper describes a helicopter vibration induced by main rotor in forward flight. The hub loads in the fixed frame, which are dominant source of helicopter vibration, are obtained by multi-blade summation of rotating blades loadings. The components of 3/rev, 4/rev, and 5/rev blades loadings are transmitted by blades to 4/rev hub loads in the fixed frame. The vertical vibrations of helicopter at pilot seat and copilot seat are calculated through rigid body transfer functions considering airframe to be rigid body. The blades are assumed to be elastic and undergo the flap, lag, and torsion motion and free wake aerodynamic model is used to calculate the precise blade loadings in the analysis. The 4/rev vertical vibration responses are analyzed from rotating blade loadings and fixed hub loadings.

  • This paper is concerned with transfer process on hot forging of bearing hub. Workers on hot forging have difficulty in working by high temperature and weight workpiece. And In conventional got forging of bearing hub, the material wasted to the flash accounts approximately 10% of the original workpiece. It is need manufacture automation and reduce the cost of forged products. Surface treatment of die and lubricant are investigated from experiment and FE-simulation for analysis of forming simulation. In order to hot forging process design considered flash thickness and blocker geometry and initial temperature of die and billet. This transfer process gave comparatively good results compared with actual products.

  • Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a chronic, progressive brain disorder that slowly destroys affected individuals' memory and reasoning faculties, and consequently, their ability to perform the simplest tasks. This study investigated the hub genes of AD. Proteins interact with other proteins and non-protein molecules, and these interactions play an important role in understanding protein function. Computational methods are useful for understanding biological problems, in particular, network analyses of protein-protein interactions. Through a protein network analysis, we identified the following top 10 hub genes associated with AD: PTGER3, C3AR1, NPY, ADCY2, CXCL12, CCR5, MTNR1A, CNR2, GRM2, and CXCL8. Through gene enrichment, it was identified that most gene functions could be classified as integral to the plasma membrane, G-protein coupled receptor activity, and cell communication under gene ontology, as well as involvement in signal transduction pathways. Based on the convergent functional genomics ranking, the prioritized genes were NPY, CXCL12, CCR5, and CNR2.

  • A flexible manipulator can move in the high speed even with the small driving torque. The dymanic equations of flexible manipulator which include 2 vibrational modes are derived using the clamped-free boundary condition. Simulation results of the 6th order model are well matched with experimental results. The hub angle of the flexible mainpulator can be controlled without vibration of the beam by the feedback of both hub angle and strain. The overshoot of the hub angle in the step response is reduced without sacrificing the rise time using the cycloidal function instead of the step function as the referenmce input.
