  • The characteristics of the tool system give many effects into the costs and qualities for the finished components. This study proposes a new method for manufacturing of high manufacturing productivity, production process reduction and low cost through back pressure forming. The Lock-up hub is manufactured through many processes, such as upsetting($1^{st}$ Forming), piercing, direct extrusion($2^{nd}$ Forming), final sizing process($3^{rd}$ Forming). In this study, process design for closed-die forging of a Lock-up hub used for a component of automobile transmission was made using three-dimensional finite element simulations, and the strain distributions and velocity distributions are investigated through the post processor. The rigid-plastic finite-element method for back pressure forging has been used in order to reduce development time and die cost. Using the FEM simulation, we found the optimum value of back pressure. The prototypes of Lock-up hub parts were forged into the net-shape. In the experiment, lead precision of tooth are measured by the CCMM(Contact Coordinate Measuring Machine). The dimensional accuracy of forged part was improved up to the 40% when back press was applied.

  • The folding kinetics of $WT^*$ ubiquitin variant with valine to alanine mutation at sequence position 26 (HubWA) was studied by stopped-flow fluorescence spectroscopy. While unfolding kinetics showed a single exponential phase, refolding reaction showed three exponential phases. The semi-logarithmic plot of urea concentration vs. rate constant for the first phase showed v-shape pattern while the second phase showed v-shape with roll-over effect at low urea concentration. The rate constant and the amplitude of the third phase were constant throughout the urea concentrations, suggesting that this phase represents parallel process due to the configurational isomerization. Interestingly, the first and second phases appeared to be coupled since the amplitude of the second phase increased at the expense of the amplitude of the first phase in increasing urea concentrations. This observation together with the roll-over effect in the second folding phase indicates the presence of intermediate state during the folding reaction of HubWA. Quantitative analysis of Hub-WA folding kinetics indicated that this intermediate state is on the folding pathway. Folding kinetics measurement of a mutant HubWA with hydrophobic core residue mutation, Val to Ala at residue position 17, suggested that the intermediate state has significant amount of native interactions, supporting the interpretation that the intermediate is on the folding pathway. It is considered that HubWA is a useful model protein to study the contribution of residues to protein folding process using folding kinetics measurements in conjunction with protein engineering.

  • Wind turbine frame will be required to be longer, lighter, more reliable and more consistent. Therefore it is necessary to lose weight of the wind turbine hub. Light-weight Design of a wind turbine is required to be at least 20 years. Therefore, this paper investigates the development for wind turbine rotor hub using design of topology optimization. The model is a pitch regulated wind turbine with three rotor blades where the main frame is made of nodular iron. For optimization, calculating stresses based on displacements and based on these data to carry out a verification of static and fatigue strength carried out. For this verification, two kind of analysis is used. One is static analysis and the other is fatigue analysis. Then the rotor hub of wind turbine frame is optimized using topology method.

  • This paper investigates numerically the effect of rotor hub vibratory load components on the airframe vibration responses of high-speed compound unmanned rotorcraft (HCUR) using a lift-offset coaxial rotor, wings, and two propellers. The rotor hub vibratory loads are predicted using a rotorcraft comprehensive analysis code, CAMRAD II, and the airframe vibration responses are calculated by a finite element analysis software, MSC.NASTRAN. It is shown that the vibratory hub pitch moment of a lift-offset coaxial rotor is the most dominant component for both the longitudinal and vertical vibration responses at four specified locations of the airframe.

  • Even in the current age of advanced medicine, the prognosis of malignant peritoneal mesothelioma (MPM) remains abysmal. Molecular mechanisms responsible for the initiation and progression of MPM are still largely not understood. Adopting an integrated bioinformatics approach, this study aims to identify the key genes and pathways responsible for MPM. Genes that are differentially expressed in MPM in comparison with the peritoneum of healthy controls have been identified by analyzing a microarray gene expression dataset. Gene Ontology and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes pathway analyses of these differentially expressed genes (DEG) were conducted to gain a better insight. A protein-protein interaction (PPI) network of the proteins encoded by the DEGs was constructed using STRING and hub genes were detected analyzing this network. Next, the transcription factors and miRNAs that have possible regulatory roles on the hub genes were detected. Finally, survival analyses based on the hub genes were conducted using the GEPIA2 web server. Six hundred six genes were found to be differentially expressed in MPM; 133 are upregulated and 473 are downregulated. Analyzing the STRING generated PPI network, six dense modules and 12 hub genes were identified. Fifteen transcription factors and 10 miRNAs were identified to have the most extensive regulatory functions on the DEGs. Through bioinformatics analyses, this work provides an insight into the potential genes and pathways involved in MPM.

  • In order to reduce the weight of parts and materials for the development of high-efficiency engines in accordance with the strengthening of automobile fuel efficiency regulations, the existing casting material is changed to a iron plate material, and plastic processing and turning operations are performed to lighten the weight and reduce the manufacturing cost. Among the pulley components applied to the damper pulley, the HUB product was manufactured by plastic machining instead of the existing casting process, and the inspection standardized for automating the inner diameter and parallelism measurement of the turning result of the new hub part with improved quality, and the inspection system for this Development of design and operation software to automate the inspection of the inner diameter and parallelism of the hub was described. The representative specifications of the development equipment are a hub inner diameter 22mm inspection system, a three-point inspection system with a parallelism of 0.15mm on the top.

  • This paper examines a highly used social networking site (SNS) by studying the behavior of more than 11 million members over a 20 month period. The importance of the most highly active members to the overall network is demonstrated by the significant fraction of total visits by extremely active members in a given period but such members have surprisingly short lifespans (an average of only 2.5 months) as social hubs. We form and test a number of hypotheses concerning these social hubs and the determinants of their lifespan. We find that the speed of achieving social hub status increases the lifespan of a social hub. The norm of reciprocity is strongly confirmed to be present in the social hub population as visits are reciprocated. We also find that increasing local dominance in terms of activities over neighboring agents leads to a longer lifespan of a social hub. Contrary to expectations, local clustering in the vicinity of social hubs is smaller (rather than larger) than overall clustering. We discuss managerial implications in the paper.

  • Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is a common type of chronic liver disease, with severity levels ranging from nonalcoholic fatty liver to nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH). The extent of liver fibrosis indicates the severity of NASH and the risk of liver cancer. However, the mechanism underlying NASH development, which is important for early screening and intervention, remains unclear. Weighted gene co-expression network analysis (WGCNA) is a useful method for identifying hub genes and screening specific targets for diseases. In this study, we utilized an mRNA dataset of the liver tissues of patients with NASH and conducted WGCNA for various stages of liver fibrosis. Subsequently, we employed two additional mRNA datasets for validation purposes. Gene set enrichment analysis (GSEA) was conducted to analyze gene function enrichment. Through WGCNA and subsequent analyses, complemented by validation using two additional datasets, we identified five genes (BICC1, C7, EFEMP1, LUM, and STMN2) as hub genes. GSEA analysis indicated that gene sets associated with liver metabolism and cholesterol homeostasis were uniformly downregulated. BICC1, C7, EFEMP1, LUM, and STMN2 were identified as hub genes of NASH, and were all related to liver metabolism, NAFLD, NASH, and related diseases. These hub genes might serve as potential targets for the early screening and treatment of NASH.

  • A flexible nanipulator can move in the high speed even with the small driving torque. The dynamic equations of flexible manipulator whichinclude 2 vibrationalmodes are derived using the clamped-free boundarycondition. Simulation results of the 6th order modelare well matched with experimental results. The hub angle of the flexible manipulator can be controlled without vibration of beam by the feedback of both hub angle and strain. The overshoot of the hub angle in the step resonse is reduced without sacrificing the rise time using the cycloidal function instead of the step function as the reference input.
