  • This research examined the residents' behavior in using space, focusing on the kitchen area where there was the most change, in order to understand the transition of living culture through the ages. The following findings were obtained: 1) Today's apartment residents prefer 'Island' style which is located a separate counter and work space. Thus the kitchen m is now being recognized as a place spacious, and where the whole family can participate. 2) The usage of the kitchen is not only limited to cooking or keeping household goods but also broadened to washing, private life, happy home circle, inviting guests etc. Especially, family union or inviting guests in the kitchen is more frequent as the houses become larger, private refreshment or reading in the kitchen is proportional to income and to people living in homes where the kitchen and dining room is divided independent 3) Looking at the dietary life styles of today's apartment residents, there are more well-being type and tradition type than prosessed type. This trend is portional to the resident's standard of education and the size of the apartment, thus making a significant influence.

  • Canned type household circulating pump in the country almost depends on the act of imports, however it has disadvantage of low efficiency because an airgap of between rotor and stator is large and when the boiler is not used in a period of summer, a can and a rotor become adhered each other. Accordingly the pump is impossible to drive the initial state, and a lifetime of the pump gets shortening. To overcome these defects a electronic circulating pump by axial air-gap type brushless motor which is completely depart from the general idea for the conventional pump is developed. This paper is verified through experiments that the developed pump has good performance for reduction of size and noise, reo trenchment of cost, and improvement of efficiency in comparison with the conventional pump.

  • Conventional methods for reducing vibration in engineering designs (i.e. by stiffening or detuning) may be undesirable or inadequate in conditions where size or weight must be minimized or where complex vibration spectra exist. Alloys which combine high damping capacity with good mechanical properties can provide attractive technical and economic solutions to problems involving seismic, shock and vibration isolation. To meet these trends, we have developed a new high damping Fe-17%Mn alloys. Also, the alloy has advantages of good mechanical properties and more economical than any other known damping alloys(1/4 times as cost of non-ferrous damping alloy). Thus, the high damping Fe-17%6Mn alloy can be widely applied to household appliances, automobiles, industrial facilities and power plant components with its excellent damping capacity(SDC, 30%) and mechanical property(T.S 700MPa). It is the purpose of this paper to introduce the characterization of the high damping Fe-17%Mn alloy and the results of retrofit several such applications.

  • Micronutrient malnutrition severely affects development and functioning of the body leading to increased morbidity and mortality. The study adopted a cross-sectional research design; cluster sampling was used to target 318 households. The significance level was P < 0.05, the mean age of primary food shoppers was 33 years and the average income was 3,000-5,000 Kenya shillings. Slightly above half, 55% of the primary food shoppers knew about fortification but only 25% understood its meaning. Fortified maize flour was consumed by < 80% of primary food shoppers however utilization frequency was low. In conclusion factors that were significantly associated with utilization of fortified maize flour included; knowledge on fortified maize flour (p=0.00), household size (p=0.005), preference of fortified maize flour (p=0.000) and level of fortification knowledge (p=0.002). Availability and price were ranked as the most important factors that influence utilization of fortified maize flour at 58% and 55% contrary nutritional value was ranked least important at 37%. The ministry of health and concerned millers should make more emphasis on creating and sustaining awareness more so a steady supply and affordable prices should be ensured by millers so that more primary food shoppers can be able to utilize the fortified maize flour.

  • Purpose: Compared with the past when Japanese retailers used to hesitate to open their shops in the Korean market, because of anti-Japan sentiment, they show confidence in Korea in recent. This study, thus, aims at examining how socio-demographic factors have an impact on customer attitudes towards a Japanese retailer as a shopping destination. Research design, data, and methodology: After the literature review process, the authors have developed a variety of questions to verify the relationship amongst the variables like nationalism, consumer ethnocentrism, war animosity, store country-of-origin and anti-Japan sentiment. Furthermore, after collected questionnaires, the authors used confirmative factor analysis (CFA), T test and linear regression analysis to verify the 25 hypotheses developed. Results: Except for a household size element, it is found that gender, age, education and income levels are related to the degree of nationalism, ethnocentrism, war animosity, store country-of-origin and anti-Japan sentiment. In other words, socio-economic elements influenced Korean customer attitudes towards Japanese retailers. Conclusions: Korean customers tend to show different shopping attitudes towards the Japanese retailers, depending on the characteristics of socio-demographic elements. Furthermore, changing socio-demographic factors will provide positive business opportunities for Japanese retailers in the future.

  • Mushroom has economic, food and medicinal value to a large proportion of human populace. This study assessed the consumption pattern of mushroom species in Southwestern Nigeria. Non-probability sampling method was used to select 20 Local Government Areas (LGAs) from 3 states and four communities were selected purposively from each LGAs. Snow-ball sampling approach was used in selecting 5 respondents from each community, making a total of 400 respondents. Descriptive statistics was used to describe the socio-economic characteristics of the respondents, to compare the differences between the local (wild) and Exotic (cultivated) mushroom Species and to determine the rate at which mushroom substitute is consumed among the mushroom consumers. Logit regression was used to identify the factors influencing mushroom consumption in the study area. Thirty percent of the respondents were aged 41 to 50 years, with mean age of 49.76 years. About 82% had tertiary education, 17.3% earned above N200,000 monthly and 8.8% spent above N6000 monthly on mushroom. Logit regression showed that age (-3.21), household size (-2.17) and medicinal benefits (-2.17) had significant (p<0.01) negative effects on mushroom consumption. Conclusively, mushroom has wide acceptance among the general populace, good for food and medicine; hence, awareness should be created through agricultural policy on the need for mushroom cultivation and consumption in Nigeria.

  • In this study, quantitative models were applied to case parks to estimate the carbon reduction by trees, which was compared and analyzed at the tree and park levels. At the tree level, quantitative models of carbon storage and uptake differed by up to 7.9 times, even for the same species and size. At the park level, the carbon reduction from quantitative models varied by up to 3.7 times for the same park. In other words, carbon reduction by quantitative models exhibited considerable variation at the tree and park levels. These differences are likely due to the use of different growth environment coefficients and annual diameter at breast height growth rates and the overestimation of carbon reduction due to the substitution of the same genus and group model for each tree species. Extending the annual carbon uptake per unit area of the case park to the total park area of Chuncheon a carbon uptake ranging from a minimum of 370.4 t/yr and a maximum of 929.3 t/yr, and the difference can reach up to 558.9 t/yr. This is equivalent to the carbon emissions from the annual household electricity consumption of approximately 2,430 people. These results suggest that the indiscriminate application of quantitative models to estimate carbon reduction in urban trees can lead to significant errors and deviations in estimating carbon storage and uptake in urban greenspaces. The findings of this study can serve as a basis for estimating carbon reduction in urban greening research, projects, and policies.

  • Single-person households are steadily increasing every year, and unlike multi-person households, the incidence of depression is higher because they are mentally isolated. There are many causes of depression, including physical activity, family size, and stress. Less physical activity and more stress are associated with higher rates of depression. As the number of single-person households increased, and the COVID-19 outbreak in 2019 caused restrictions on physical activity due to the overlapping pandemic, the stress index increased, resulting in many depressed patients. Since many patients do not receive treatment even if they develop depression, we propose a depression management system to increase access to treatment for depression.

  • The objective of this study was to establish technology for removing bacteria with human- and eco-friendly material. Staphylococcus aureus as an important component for balanced equilibrium among microbiomes, was cultured under various concentrations of phosphate. Experimental observation relating to physical properties was performed in an addition of phosphate buffer. Statistically minimum value of size and hardness using atomic force microscope was observed on the matured biofilm at 5 mM concentration of phosphate. As a result of absorbance for the biofilm tagged with dye, concentration of biofilm was reduced with phophate, too. To identify whether this reduction by phosphate at the 5 mM is caused by counter ion or not, sodium chloride was treated to the biofilm under the same condition. To elucidate components of the biofilm counting analysis of the biofilm using time-of-flight secondary ion mass spectrometry was employed. The secondary ions from the biofilm revealed that alteration of physical properties is consistent to the change of extracellular polymeric substrate (EPS) for the biofilm. Viscoelastic characterization of the biofilm using a controlled shear stress rheometer, where internal change of physical properties could be detected, exhibited a static viscosity and a reduction of elastic modulus at the 5 mM concentration of phosphate. Accordingly, bacteria at the 5 mM concentration of phosphate are attributed to removing the EPS through a reduction of elastic modulus for bacteria. We suggest that the reduction of concentration of biofilm induces dispersion which assists to easily spread its dormitory. In conclusion, it is elucidated that an addition of phosphate causes removal of EPS, and that causes a function of antibiotic.
