  • Purpose: The present study purposed to examine induced characteristic or erythema and safety by medium wave ultra violet(UVB) lamp. Methods: We compared sunshine and UVB lamp using spectroradiometer and UV radiometer. For measuring sunshine irradiation, we used spectoradiometer and detected from 8 to 18 o'clock every each hour on the beach, playground and rooftop of a 5 story building. The subjects for erythema examination were 5 healthy subjects who have no pathologic history of photosensitivity reaction, psoriasis and vitiligo. They were exposed to UVB radiation at the abdominal area for 2 hours and after irradiation, we observed the change of skin color every 12 hours over a period of 1 week. Results: Between sunshine and UVB lamp, sunshine had higher data on the chromaticity coordinates, dominant and peak wavelength, bandwidth and purity than the UVB lamp but on the color temperature, brightness the UVB lamp had higher data than the sunshine. In comparison of sunshine and UVB lamp, UVB lamp irradiated constantly such as $3.9-4.4{\mu}W/cm^2$ at a distance of 100cm between bed and lamp which was same as early morning irradiation on the sunshine. The erythema didn't appear to any subject. Conclusion: This results suggest that the UVB lamp has lower irradiance as much as early sunshine. Therefore the UVB lamp had no influence of inducing erythema at a distance of 100cm between bed and lamp.

  • In order to determine the violation of right of light impact at adjacent residential area by high-rise building, analysis on the right of light for high-rise residential commercial complex building block at Gahngnam-ku, Seoul, Korea was carried out using Google Sketchup Pro. After the analysis th sunshine duration of B apartment decreased from 5 hours 16 minutes 3 hours 48 minutes by I hour 42 minutes after construction. It shows that the total sunshine duration is less than the Seoul City Government Standard which is more than 4 hours a day, or more than 2 consecutive hours. Lowering the heights of apartments by 54m would increase the total sunshine duration which would meet the Seoul City Government Standard by four hours seven minutes. Problems that rna lead to the violation on the right of light in the adjacent area should be discussed in advance and minimized by analyzing the right of light among buildings and structures which are scheduled to be constructed on the site during construction penni! process when high-rise building is proposed.

  • This research is to evaluate the effect of sunshine treatment on the strength in the Al 6061/AFRP hybrid composite(APAL). APAL specimens were processed by autoclave curing system under the constant condition of curing temperature, time and aluminum surface pertreatment. Aramid patched aluminum alloy can be widely used for the repair of the damage part of the aircraft. The tensile strength of the sunshine treated APAL 2P and 6P composite is 14%, 22% smaller than that of the non-treated material. The interlaminar shear strength of the APAL specimens for the adhesive length of 5mm is 24% higher than that of the APAL for the adhesive length of 10mm. In the case of APAL DS 1P material, interlaminar shear strength of the specimen which was sunshine treated for 200 hours is 21% smaller than that of the non-treated material while interlaminar shear strength of the specimen which was immersed in a 70.deg. C fresh water for 1200 hours decreases by 75.7%.

  • The high-rise apartment buildings have been constructed in large quantities to provide housing and used to be the popular residential types in Korea. However, it results that a number of problems are provoked such as the deteriorate of comfort and lack of sunshine access. Based on the judicial precedents, the sunshine access right should be guaranteed to enjoy uninterrupted sunlight for more than two hours continually between 9 am. and 3 pm or for more than four hours between 8 am and 4 pm in the winter solstice. The computer simulations are very strong tools to judge that the sunshine access right is infringed or not. This study aims to evaluate the efficiency of two computer simulation programs such as 3Dmax and Lightscape programs broadly used in field areas. For the study, the three dimensional computer models are suggested, and the simulations are performed on the 30 minutes intervals. Also, the simulation results are compared by the results of scaled model experiments.

  • To suggest the fundamental data for the estimation of crop evaportranspiration by the ca- lculated coefficients for estimating the radiation suitable to the different regions of korea in application of Penman equcation, the daily data such as sc(skycover), n(actual sunshine hours), N(possible sunshine hours), Rs(horizontal solar radiation) and Ra(extraterrestial solar radiation) for 10 years (from 1977 to 1986) collected from 19 meteorological stations were analysed. The results are summarized as follows : 1. The coefficients a, b and c for estimating the radiation taken by the regression method with the daily and monthly mean data of the skycover and the ratio of Rs to Ra were shown as a=0.619, b= -0.0202, c= -0.0023 and a=0.64, b=0.0377 c=0.0001 in ave- rage respectively. 2. The coefficients a and b for estimating the radiation analysed by the regression and arithmetic method from the daily ratio of sunshine hours and Rs to Ra were shown as a= 0.157, b= 0.529, and a=0.119, b= 0.726 in average, respectively. 3. The coefficients a and b for estimating the radiation calculated by the regression me- thod based on the monthly ratio of sunshine hours and radiation were shown as a=0. 319 and b= 0.557 in average. 4. The values of a and b for estimating the radiation taken from the relationship between the daily ratio of sunshine hours and radiation showed high significance level. 5. The standard deviation and the coefficient of variance between the radiation calculated from the coefficients by the regression and arithmetic method with the daily data and the actual radiation were analysed and compared to the results by the coefficients of the modified Penman method (a=0.18, b=0.55) and by those of the F.A.O inodified Penman method(a=0.25, b=0.5). The standard deviation and the coefficient of varia- nce by the regression method in this study showed the lowest value. 6. From the above results, it is suggested that regression method using the coefficients taken from the relationship between the ratio of sunshine hours and the ratio of radia- tion based on the daily data has the highest accuracy in estimating the radiation. 7. The average reference crop evapotranspiration estimating by the modified Penman me- thod using the coefficients a and b derived by the regression method from the daily meterological data was closer to the actual evapotsranspiration of grass measured in Suwon area than the estimated evapotranspiration by the modified Penman method and the F.A.O modified Penman method.

  • The soybean yield forcasting models based on climatic elements in six locations were estimated by the STEPWISE/MAXR, Cp statistics and GLM procedure of SAS. The climatic elements were aerial temperature, sunshine hours and precipitation from May to October in 20 years. The investigated six locations were Chunchon, Suwon, Cheongju, Kwangju, Iri and Jinju. The important climatic elements for main effects in Chunchon model were August sunshine hours-linear term, August precipitation-quadratic. June temperature to August precipitation and May temperature to August precipitation were interaction terms. The quadratic August precipitation was assumed to be related to yield in Chunchon. The main effects of Suwon were linear-June temperature, quadratic June sunshine hours and June precipitation. These terms affected yields negatively. The main effects of Cheongju were linear June temperature and quadratic August precipitation. May temperature to June precipitation, July to August precipitations were interactions. The main effects of Kwangju were linear July precipitation, quadratic June temperature and July precipitation. June to July sunshine hours of interaction terms influenced yield negatively. The main effects of Iri were linear May sunshine hours, quadratic May and July sunshine hours. May temperature to May precipitation and June to July precipitations affected yields negatively. The main effects of Jinju were linear June and August precipitations. August temperature to August sunshine hours, June sunshine hours to July precipitation and June to August precipitation were interactions. In linear terms, June and August precipitations and, in interactions, August to August sunshine hours were negative efficacies respectively. The included year variables in Chunchon, Suwon, Kwangju, and Jinju model building were recognized as a linear trend based on an assumption that the technological factors have improved through times.

  • This study is an attempt to classify climatic regions of Korea based on the data of sunshine duration and to clarify the characteristics of sunshine for each divided regions. The data used in this study are the mean values of monthly and ten-daily sunshine duration, sunshine percentage, solar radiation and proud amount obtained from 63 weather stations of the Korea Meteorological Administration during the period of 1974~ 1993. The characteristics of annual change of sunshine percentage, annual duration of sunshine, percentage of sunshine, annual radiation, amount of cloud, days of sunshine percentage above 80% and-days of sunless are investigated by the mean values of -the stations belong to divided regions. The ward method of hierarchical cluster analysis is adopted to the analysis of data for the regional division. The results obtained in this study are summarized as follows. (1) The sunshine regions of Korea can be divided into six regions of the central west, central east, south west, souls east, Ullung-do and Cheju-do. These are strongly affected by the dirtribution of inclined slopes taking account of the topographic characteristics of Korea. (2) Annual distribution shows the sunshine duration of 1777~ 2287 hours, sunshine percentage of 40~53%, solar radiation of 3469~4637 MJ/$m^2$, cloud amount of 5.0~6.1, days of sunshine perrentage above 80% of 53~116days and sunless days of 46~71days. (3) The types of annual change of sunshine percentages is classified with four types of minimum in July and maximum in October, minimum in July and maximum in December, high in May and October and low in July and January, high in May and November and low in June and January. (4) The long-term trend of sunshine duration decrease in peninsula area but increase in island area and the Tong-term inclination of cloud amount is almost zero. The author believe this tendency is related to a pollutional turbidity than a cloud amount in inland area.

  • Rice yield of South Korea in 2015 was the highest of the last 30 years. It is important issue to establish food policy whether the historically highest yield in 2015 can be continued or just one-off event. Therefore, it is necessary to understand whether such a high yield as 2015 will be reoccurred. The aim of this study was to find out what climatic factor affect rice yield and how often these climatic factor could occur. For this study, the yield monitoring data from National Institute of Crop Science, Rural Development Administration and the meteorological data provided by Korea Meteorological Administration are used to identify the weather conditions could cause high yield, and how often these conditions occurred in the past. Our results indicated that such as high yield as 2015 could occur only when the mean sunshine hours of July and the mean sunshine hours from the end of August to early September was more than 5.1 hours and 6 hours, respectively. Mean sunshine hour of July may be related to grain number. The mean sunshine hour from the end of August to early September was presumed to relate to grain filling ratio. The relationship between monthly mean temperature and yield or yield component was not clear in this study. In this study, any cycle of high weather condition was not found. Therefore, the probability of high yield weather condition was expressed by frequency. The frequency of the sunshine hour, could make high yield, were 8/35 (23%) over the past 35 years. And the frequency of two years consecutive sunshine hour condition, which could cause high yield, was 1/35 (2.9%). The frequency of recurrence of sunshine hour making high yield within the next 5 years or 10 years after high yield weather condition were 4/35 (11.4%). After all, the high yield as much as yield of 2015 could not be one-off event. But it was not also consecutive event.

  • This study was conducted to determine the time and methods of predicting tobacco yield. by analysis of climatic factors in the period of tobacco season during 8 years from 1979 to 1986 at the Daegu district, south eastern part of Korean peninsular. The results obtained are summarised as follows: 1. Climatic factors of each month which have influence on tobacco yield were the amount of rainfall in May and sunshine hours in July. Among climatic factors at tobacco growth stages, the precipitation yield. But these meteorological factors had different effect on variety. 2. Between tobacco yields and climatic factors by even values of each month, tobacco yield was estimated by equations, flue cured tobacco :Y=190.6-5.230X1+ 0.474$\times$2 + 0.142X3(Xl : Minimum temperature of April, X2: Precipitation during May, X3:Sunshine duration on July), air cured tobacco : Y= 195.3-0.447Xl + 0.363$\times$2 + 0.l12$\times$3(Xl :Maximum temperature of May, X2:Precipitation during May. X3: Sunshine duration on July). While between tobacco yield and climatic factors at different growth stage, predicting equation of yield could be derived, flue cured tobacco : Y=205.8+0.510Xl +0.289$\times$2 + 0.305$\times$3 (Xl :Average temperature during the early growth stage, X2 :Precipitation during the early and maximum growth stage, X3 : Sunshine hours during the leaf and tips maturing stage), air cured tobacco Y=194.T-0.498Xl 10.615$\times$2+0.121$\times$3(Xl ;Maximum temperature during the transplanting time, X2 : Precipitation during the maximum growth stage, X3 : Sunshine hours during the leaf and tips maturing stage).
