  • Spatially fixed bichromophoric systems with nonidentical chromophores have been extensively employed for studies of electron transfer and excitation transfer. Excitation hopping behavior between two naphthy1 moieties on 7,14-dihydro-7,14-ethanodibenz[a,h] anthracene(DEA)has been explored by the time-resolved fluorescence anisotropy measurements. The experimentally obtained value of the hopping rate in DEA agrees at least qualitatively with that calculated on the basis of the Dexter's theory, but disagrees with that calculated on the basis of the Forster's theory, indicates that for a pair of donor and acceptor with inter-chromophore separation as short as 4.5 $\AA$, excitation transfer via electron exchange is a predominant process.

  • Rendezvous is a process of two or more cognitive radio nodes gathering on the same channel at the same time for a negotiation to establish data communications. This paper discusses rendezvous issues in cognitive radio networks. It details why rendezvous is an issue in cognitive radio networks and how rendezvous works. It classifies channel access methods, and details sequence-based channel-hopping methods. It surveys existing works on blind rendezvous and compares the proposed algorithms in terms of the maximum time to rendezvous. This paper discusses the properties that an efficient channel-hopping rendezvous algorithm should have and illustrates common issues in the existing rendezvous methods. It also explains open research issues in the rendezvous area.

  • In this paper, we studied the frequency hopping(FH) performance on the FH radio communication system via M&S of initial synchronization architecture. It is difficult to test the synchronization performance on the real FH communication environment. Thus, we have modeled the synchronization system similar to the real radio communication structure, and simulated the optimum correlation value and the synchronization performance on AWGN channel. As the result, we could obtain the thresholds of correlation synchronization and the FH synchronization performance under the low SNR.

  • A collision dispersion scheme based on orthogonal pre-spreading is proposed to reduce the effect of collisions that occur in orthogonal code hopping multiplexing(OCHM). The OCHM scheme was previously proposed to accommodate a significantly larger number of low-activity bursty channels than the number of orthogonal codewords. The proposed scheme greatly reduces the required SNR in channel decoding. In addition, the proposed scheme can be applied to OFHM based on OFDM.

  • The frequency synthesizer thar has very short transient time is the key to construct the Fast Frequency Hopping(FFH) system. A Direct Digital Frequency Synthesizer(DDFS) whose transient time is in the nS range has been implemented and the performance of which has been examined through this paper. And by considering the hopping characteristic it is confirmed that the DDFS is suitable for the FFH system. Finally an improvement method which can greatly enhances the SNR with the state-of-the-art techniques and simplifies the system design is presented.

  • In this paper, we propose a bit synchronizer which is suitable for frequency hopping systems. The proposed bit synchronizer is an ADPLL in which the digital loop filter is combined with an error symbol detecting circuit. Suppressing the tracking process, when hop mute and impulse noises are detected, improves the performance of the digital loop filter and enhances the probability of the frequency hopping system. Simulation results demonstrate an improved performance of the proposed bit synchronizer compared with existing ones.

  • This paper investigates the design of a frequency hopping FSK tranceiver system, where the system enhancements are made in the following three aspects: dual frequency synthesiszation for the increased hopping rate, linearization of VCO gain in PLL to improve BFSK modulation characteristics, and fast code synchronization by the matched filter method.

  • In this paper, we analyze the performance of a concatenated code with two different inner decoding schemes. One is the error-detecting inner decoding, and the other is the error-detecting-and-correcting inner decoding scheme. We compare the performances of the two decoding schemes for finite and infinite block length cases when the concatenated code is applied to slow frequency-hopping spread-spectrum multiple access (FH-SSMA) communication systems.

  • In this paper, we analyze the performance of pulse position modulation-time hopping ultra wide band (PPM-TH UWB) systems with antenna diversity technique in indoor wireless channel. A modified Saleh and Valenzuela (SV) model is adopted as a UWB indoor channel model. Perfect synchronization between a transmitter and a receiver is assumed. Therefore, coherent equal gain combining (EGC) scheme to collect the energy available in the multipath components is investigated. It is shown that the performance is improved by increasing the number of antennas at the receiver. The results of this paper can be applied to the applications of UWB.
