As a part of basic studies on monitoring and saturation estimation of carbon dioxide ($CO_2$) storage using resistivity survey, laboratory experiment has been conducted to measure the change of the electrical resistivity through repeated experiments of supercritical $CO_2$ and brine water injection into homogeneous and heterogeneous sandstones. The $CO_2$ saturation is estimated by using resistivity index based on the resistivity measurements. The experimental results of two types of sandstones show that the effect of pore structure in the rock and the effect of contained clay minerals in the rock can be affected to calculate the $CO_2$ saturation. The result can be useful to evaluate the $CO_2$ saturation based on resistivity survey at the site where $CO_2 sequestrates.

In this study, the nematic liquid crystal (NLC) alignment effects treated on the ZnO thin film layers using ion beam irradiation were successfully studied for the first time. The ZnO thin films were deposited on indium-tin-oxide (ITO) coated glass substrates by rf-sputter and The ZnO thin films were deposited at the three kinds of rf power. The used DuoPIGatron type ion beam system, which can be advantageous in a large area with high density plasma generation. The ion beam parameters were as follows: energy of 1800 eV, exposure time of 1 min and ion beam current of $4\;mA/cm^2$ at exposure angles of $15^{\circ}$, $30^{\circ}$, $45^{\circ}$, and $60^{\circ}$. The homogeneous and homeotropic LC aligning capabilities treated on the ZnO thin film surface with ion beam exposure of $45^{\circ}$ for 1 min can be achieved. The low pretilt angle for a NLC treated on the ZnO thin film surface with ion beam irradiation for all incident angles was measured. The good LC alignment treated on the ZnO thin film with ion beam exposure at rf power of 150 W can be measure. For identifying surfaces topography of the ZnO thin films, atomic force microscopy (AFM) was introduced. After ion beam irradiation, test samples were fabricated in an anti-parallel configuration with a cell gap of $60{\mu}m$.
The node embedding technique for learning graph representation plays an important role in obtaining good quality results in graph mining. Until now, representative node embedding techniques have been studied for homogeneous graphs, and thus it is difficult to learn knowledge graphs with unique meanings for each edge. To resolve this problem, the conventional Triple2Vec technique builds an embedding model by learning a triple graph having a node pair and an edge of the knowledge graph as one node. However, the Triple2 Vec embedding model has limitations in improving performance because it calculates the relationship between triple nodes as a simple measure. Therefore, this paper proposes a feature extraction technique based on a graph convolutional neural network to improve the Triple2Vec embedding model. The proposed method extracts the neighborliness vector of the triple graph and learns the relationship between neighboring nodes for each node in the triple graph. We proves that the embedding model applying the proposed method is superior to the existing Triple2Vec model through category classification experiments using DBLP, DBpedia, and IMDB datasets.
Background: Surface soil radiation monitoring around nuclear facilities is important to classify and characterize the contaminated areas. A scanning and direct measurement technique can survey the sites rapidly before starting sampling analysis. Materials and Methods: Regarding this, we test and suggest a measurement technique for gross alpha/beta and 90Sr activities in surface soil based on a mobile ZnS(Ag)/PVT (polyvinyltoluene) array and a handheld PVT rod, respectively. To detect 90Sr selectively in soil mixed with naturally occurring radioactive materials, chosen energy channel counts from the multichannel analyzers were used instead of whole channel counts. Soil samples contaminated with exempt liquid 90Sr with 1 Bq·g-1, 3 Bq·g-1, and 10 Bq·g-1 were prepared and hardened by flocculation. Results and Discussion: The mobile ZnS(Ag)/PVT array could discriminate gross alpha, gross beta, and gamma radiation by the different pulse-shaped signal features of each sensor material. If the array is deployed on a vehicle, the scan minimum detectable concentration (MDC) range will be about 0.11-0.17 Bq·g-1 at 18 km·h-1 speed, highly sensitive to actual sites. The handheld PVT rod with 12 mm (Φ) × 20 mm (H) size can directly measure 90Sr selectively if channels on which energies are from 1,470 and 2,279 keV are gated, minimizing crossdetection of other radionuclides. These methods were verified by measuring soil samples fabricated with homogeneous 90Sr concentrations, showing static MDC of 2.16 Bq·g-1 at a measurement time of 300 seconds. Conclusion: Based on the results, comprehensive procedures using these detectors are suggested to optimize soil sites survey.
Background Breast augmentation with implants is the most commonly performed cosmetic plastic surgery in Brazil and worldwide. The aim of this study was to assess patient satisfaction and quality of life following subpectoral breast augmentation with either microtextured or macrotextured implants, using the BREAST-Q. Methods A prospective study was conducted with 40 women with hypomastia undergoing subpectoral breast augmentation. The patients were randomly allocated to two groups to receive either microtextured or macrotextured breast implants. All participants were assessed preoperatively (baseline) and after 2 and 4 months of surgery for quality of life and patient satisfaction with the surgical results, using the BREAST-Q augmentation module, a patient-reported outcome measure. Results The patients had a mean age of 28.9 ± 6.45 years. The microtextured (n = 20) and macrotextured (n = 20) groups were homogeneous for sex, age, education level, marital status, and number of children (p > 0.05). Both groups showed significant improvement in satisfaction with breasts (p < 0.001), psychosocial well-being (p < 0.001), and sexual well-being (p < 0.001) at the 2- and 4-month follow-up visits compared with baseline. The observed improvements were associated with high effect size values of 5.09, 3.44, and 3.90, respectively. In contrast, significant decreases from baseline in physical well-being scores (p = 0.001) were found 2 and 4 weeks after surgery in both groups. Conclusion Subpectoral breast augmentation with either microtextured or macrotextured breast implants improved satisfaction with breasts and quality of life in patients with hypomastia.

Objectives: Restricted and repetitive behaviors (RRBs) are a core symptom in the diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder (ASD). The complexity of behavioral patterns has called for the creation of phenotypically homogeneous subgroups among individuals with ASD. The purpose of this study was 1) to investigate the different types of RRBs and 2) to explore whether subgroups created by RRBs would show unique levels of functioning in toddlers and young children with ASD. Methods: A total of 313 children with ASD, aged 12-42 months were included in the analysis. The Autism Diagnostic Interview-Revised was used to obtain information on the different types of RRBs by grouping 15 items into six categories. The Vineland Adaptive Behaviors Scale, a parent-reported questionnaire, was used to measure adaptive functioning. A portion of the children were analyzed separately for verbal-related RRBs based on their expressive language level. Two-step cluster analysis using RRB groups as features was used to create subgroups. Analysis of covariance while covarying for age and language was performed to explore the clinical characteristics of each cluster group. Results: Sensory-related RRBs were the most prevalent, followed by circumscribed interests, interest in objects, resistance to change, and repetitive body movements. A subset of the children was analyzed separately to explore verbal-related RRBs. Four cluster groups were created based on reported RRBs, with multiple RRBs demonstrating significant delays in adaptive functioning. Conclusion: Heterogeneity of RRBs emerges at a young age. The different patterns of RRBs can be used as valuable information to determine developmental trajectories with better implications for treatment approaches.

In this study, the iron and aluminium electrode was put in marine clay which was taken from south coast in Korea to increase the undrained shear strength by inducing the densification and cementation between clay particles and precipitation which was developed by electrode decomposition. For raising the cementation rate and reducing treatment time, high electric current( 2.5A) was applied in each electrode at semi-pilot scale soil box with marine clay. After the tests, the undrained shear strength was measured at designated points using cone penetration test device and sampling was conducted simultaneously in order to measure water content, pH and electric conductivity which would be the key for configuring the cementation effects indirectly. The iron electrode decomposition test results show that the water content adjacent to anode section decreased in 35% and increased in 13% at cathode section. The measured shear strength however, was increased considerably comparing to initial shear strength because of cementation effect between iron ions and soil particles. In case of aluminium electrode decomposition test, the distribution of measured shear strength and degree of improvement were more homogeneous than iron electrode decomposition test.
The study performed a regional flood frequency analysis and proposed a regression equation to estimate design floods corresponding to return periods for ungauged basins in Geum-river basin. Five preliminary tests were employed to investigate hydrological independence and homogeneity of streamflow data, i.e. the lag-one autocorrelation test, time homogeneity test, Grubbs-Beck outlier test, discordancy measure test ($D_i$), and regional homogeneity measure (H). The test results showed that streamflow data were time-independent, discordant and homogeneous within the basin. Using five probability distributions (generalized extreme value (GEV), three-parameter log-normal (LN-III), Pearson type 3 (P-III), generalized logistic (GLO), generalized Pareto (GPA)), comparative regional flood frequency analyses were carried out for the region. Based on the L-moment ratio diagram, average weighted distance (AWD) and goodness-of-fit statistics ($Z^{DIST}$), the GLO distribution was selected as the best fit model for Geum-river basin. Using the GLO, a regression equation was developed for estimating regional design floods, and validated by comparing the estimated and observed streamflows at the Ganggyeong station.
Ensemble approach is applied to the detection modeling of illegal cash accommodation (ICA) that is the well-known type of fraudulent usages of credit cards in far east nations and has not been addressed in the academic literatures. The performance of fraud detection model (FDM) suffers from the imbalanced data problem, which can be remedied to some extent using an ensemble of many classifiers. It is generally accepted that ensembles of classifiers produce better accuracy than a single classifier provided there is diversity in the ensemble. Furthermore, recent researches reveal that it may be better to ensemble some selected classifiers instead of all of the classifiers at hand. For the effective detection of ICA, we adopt ensemble size reduction technique that prunes the ensemble of all classifiers using accuracy and diversity measures. The diversity in ensemble manifests itself as disagreement or ambiguity among members. Data imbalance intrinsic to FDM affects our approach for ICA detection in two ways. First, we suggest the training procedure with over-sampling methods to obtain diverse training data sets. Second, we use some variants of accuracy and diversity measures that focus on fraud class. We also dynamically calculate the diversity measure-Forward Addition and Backward Elimination. In our experiments, Neural Networks, Decision Trees and Logit Regressions are the base models as the ensemble members and the performance of homogeneous ensembles are compared with that of heterogeneous ensembles. The experimental results show that the reduced size ensemble is as accurate on average over the data-sets tested as the non-pruned version, which provides benefits in terms of its application efficiency and reduced complexity of the ensemble.

The quality of railroad trackbed fills has been controlled by field measurements of density and bearing resistance of plate-load tests. The control measures are compatible with the design procedures whose design parameter is $k_{30}$ for both ordinary-speed railways and high-speed railways. However, one of fatal flaws of the design procedures is that there are no simple laboratory measurement procedures for the design parameters ($k_{30}$ or, $E_{v2}$ and $E_{v2}/E_{v1}$) in design stage. To overcome the defect, the compressional wave velocity was adopted as a control measure, in parallel with the advent of the new design procedure, and its measurement technique was proposed in the preliminary investigation. The key concept of the quality control procedure is that the target value for field compaction control is the compressional wave velocity determined at optimum moisture content using modified compaction test, and direct-arrival method is used for the field measurements during construction, which is simple and reliable enough for practice engineers to access. This direct-arrival method is well-suited for such a shallow and homogeneous fill lift in terms of applicability and cost effectiveness. The sensitivity of direct-arrival test results according to the compaction quality was demonstrated at a test site, and it was concluded that compressional wave velocity can be effectively used as quality control measure. The experimental background far the companion study (Park et al., 2009) was established through field and laboratory measurements of the compressional wave velocity.
