The purpose of this study is to analyze the contents of global citizenship education in the 2015 revision of Home Economics textbook and examine the relevance of global citizenship education in the subject of Home Economics. To this end, the contents of global citizenship education included in the 2015 revision of middle school Home Economics textbook were extracted and analyzed from the viewpoint of the UNESCO Topics and Learning Objectives (TLO), according to the procedure of the concurrent triangulation design. When the frequencies of inclusion of the 9 topics of TLOs were counted, about 54.6% of global citizenship education(GCED) content covered in the 2015 revision of Home Economics textbooks in total was related to the socio-emotional aspects. In particular, TLO 4 (Different levels of identity) showed the highest ratio, followed by TLO 5(Different communities people belong to and how these are connected) and TLO 1 (Local, national and global systems and structures). As a result of categorizing global citizenship education learning topics extracted from Home Economics textbooks of middle school by Home Economics sub-topic area, the child and family(94) area showed the greatest relevance to all learning topics. Food and nutrition(13), clothing(13), housing(15), and consumption (14) showed similar distributions of learning subjects. Child and family area is related to global citizenship education in the topics of adolescent development and its characteristics, family relations, sexual and domestic violences prevention, change in family structures and healthy families, aging society and work-family balance, and life planning and career exploration. The food and nutrition area is related to global citizenship education in the topics of nutrition and eating behavior, and adolescents' food selection and safe cooking. The topic of clothing management and recycling of clothing area, housing culture, residential space utilization, and residential life and safety of housing area, consumer life in adolescence of consumption area were related to the learning subject of global citizenship education. As such, high relations between GCED learning topics and Home Economics learning content elements were found. It is expected that the data of this study will be used as basic data for program development, class improvement, and textbook development with global citizenship education as a content element in Home Economics education.
This study investigates residents' living satisfaction with high-rise, mixed-use apartments built in the structures of reinforced concrete construction(RC) and with steel framed, reinforced concrete construction(SRC). The following study results were obtained: 1) Residents expressed below average satisfaction (below 3.0) with the common-area landscape and environmentally-friendly factors, children's playground and its facilities, community service for residents' by the management offices and utility plan. 2) According to the satisfaction of sound environment, residents of the SRC group expressed above average satisfaction. It can be concluded that noise problems around the residential area of the SRC group was well solved in this study. However, the residents of the SRC group expressed low satisfaction with the freshness of indoor air, humidity, and smell in the living quarters. 3) High-rise, mixed-use apartments should accommodate a familial life cycle, be designed as an environmentally friendly resting place in harmony with city life, and provide various communal programs for residents.
The purpose of this study was to analyze the residential preferences, the type of house, the size of living space, and the region for later life and contributing factors to their housing plan. The sample in this study consisted of 572 aged couple living in Korea. Statistics employed for the analysis were frequencies, means, X2test, logit analysis and multiple regression. The results could be summarized as follows. They preferred 31.2 pyung as living space, the single detacted house(81.1%) and living in middle-small cities or rural area. The present living space, present living area, satisfaction of economic status had significant effects on the living space in later life. Those who had a plan to live in the single detached house were affected by husband's educational attaintment, the type of present house, present and future living region. And the factors affecting furture living region were present living region, household income, household expenditure, total asset and preferred housing type. The affecting factors were different from future residential preferences by occupation and health status.
The purposes of this research were to develop a family life education program for single-parent families in rural area and to investigate the effectiveness of education through continuous tests.For these objectives, the concurrent-type program for single-parent families that emphasized communication skills, psychological strategies, and the importance of social support system was constructed. The effectiveness of the program was evaluated by pre-, post- and delayed test through 88 single parents and their children and it was analyzed by paired t-test. The results suggested that the program was effective in improving self-esteem, self-confidence and in decreasing depression. This effectiveness was more in single-father families than single-mother families. But especially in children this effectiveness was diminished as times passed. For maintaining this effectiveness in program, more frequent and continuous following education was demanded.

In this study the interpretive perspective means a point of view on educational curriculum in which in order to reach the understanding of the meaning of the behaviors and beliefs of human beings, and the historical and cultural products, the process of discussing on the basis of historical and cultural knowledge is very important. The developed curriculum means the one that consists of the goal of the curriculum, the contents of the curriculum, lesson plans, and the instruction-learning materials. This study has been carried out in four steps: conceptualization, development, application and evaluation. This study has tried to propose some changes in the contents of clothing life education on the basis of the interpretive perspective by firstly, assuming some core concepts that were related to clothing life education in Home Economics and secondly, organizing the contents of the clothing life culture area based upon historical and cultural materials. The results of the application of the developed curriculum came out positive. The strong points of the developed curriculum showed that for the students the curriculum was helpful in seeking answers to such questions as 'who I am' and 'what kind of being I am' through the perception of traditional culture and clothing life. In addition, the developed learning contents were recognized as new knowledge. It also showed that teaching contents with a focus on the interpretive perspective could play a role as reflection for the practice and for the arrival at the final perception. A weak point of the developed curriculum is that the Home Economics teachers themselves might find difficulty preparation for teaching this material because of their limited understanding and knowledge of the historical and cultural materials about clothing life.
The purpose of this study are 1) to offer the basic data for consumer education by examining and analyzing housewife's Life Style. 2) to make the housewife lead for Life Style better and more resonable. Questionnaires were sent to 623 housewives in Pusan who have elementary , middle and high school students. Frequence, Factor analysis, Cluster analysis, One-way Anova, X 2-test were used to take statistics. The results were as follows. 1) Housewife's Life Style in independent house area were ' the economical seeking pattern' which takes up th high proportions, next 'the practical reserved seeking pattern' ,'the tradition and reservational fashion seeking pattern', and 'the negative neverlessness pattern' On the other hand, the Life-Style in apartment area were' the rapid purpose seeking pattern', next ' the economical seeking pattern', the fashion and pleasure seeking pattern' and 'the tradition and reservational fashion seeking pattern'. 2) By surveying the relationships the housewife's Life Style and the demographics, first, there was a difference in housewife's Life Style of the independent house area by the level of education, monthly mean income and husbands occupation. 3) Finally, as I studied th characterization of which they possessed thing, it usually appeared the characteristic possession by types.
This study has been performed to explore conveniences and inconveniences of daily lives in rural residential care facilities among the elderly residents. In this study, five males and seven females aged 68 to 78 were asked about socio-familial and physical aspects of their daily lives in the facilities such as meals, social activities, family visits, recreation, and health care. The answers of the qualitative interview were drawn as follow; first, the residents perceived well planned regular meals and snacks, free visits of friends, regularly supervised daily sanitary activities, periodic outdoor activities, education programs provided by religious experts, and pastoral farming lives as most convenient aspects of the retirement facilities. In addition, some felt that facility life made them free of familial conflicts, while others appealed fear of being forgotten because of distant location. On the other hand, they perceived the supervised group activities and meals as major inconveniences. They also felt persistently depressed when closely observing serious illness or deaths of their co-residents. Therefore in this study, suggestions were made as follows: first, combination of normal family life and retirement facility should be developed in the mixed form of community welfare center and shared home. Second, intensive medical care facilities should be in collaboration with the retirement facilities, so that the residents are relieved from stressful contacts with extremely ill patients in the residential area.

The objectives of the unit ‘Family Relations’in high school Home Economics Education is to help the students cultivating proper values and self-esteem, maintaining harmonious personal relations not only by understanding human relationships in family, but also by acquiring role play, and is to wisely cope with many problems occurring in social life, which are indispensable for those living in modern society. But at present it is hard for the students to gain those abilities mentioned above, for the present unit ‘Family Relations’lays special emphasis only on memorizing specific knowledge about the understanding of a family. To improve the present educational situation, this study develops a new teaching-learning method based on the role play model concerning the ‘Family Relation’area of high school Home Economics Education curriculum. This study is theoretically based on the literature and previous studies on present problems of our various family relations, and solving its problems, and suggests lesson model of role play and its effect. This study was performed as following procedures: the ‘Family Relation’unit of the present high school Home Economics Education curriculum was analyzed, and surveyed students to discover the conflicts and their solutions the high school students are now experiencing in their family relations. Accordingly, a new lesson model of the ‘Family Relation’area, applying role play was developed. Based on the developed lesson plan, two-hour classes were experimented and positive evaluation was given by students.
This study aims both to find the desirable orientation of the home management which have been often discussed in the academy of the home management since 1970's and to present a curriculum as a practical way of solving the problem of orientation. We conclude that the problems of the orientation have due partly to unprofessionalized mixture of sub-areas in the home management and partly to narrowed specialization in each sub-area. We suggest that the problems can be solved when 'family lives' is the main object of the home management and when the home management is approached on the viewpoint of 'integration' rather than 'specialization' The curriculum based on the analysis is consisted of 4 spheres; 1) basic subjects of family lives ) basic concepts and theories 3) subjects for Korean family lives 4) subjects for family counseling and policy.
The purpose of this study was to examine the determinants of economic contributions of home-based family businesses. The results suggested that positive effect on direct contributions of home-based family businesses was associated with a male manager, more family members, more employees, non-family employees in the business, engaged in food and restaurant business, located in Seoul area, and higher perceived success of the business. Positive effect on indirect contributions of home-based family businesses was associated with a female manager, a child under age 6, only family members as employees, and greater initial investment in the business. Working hours were negatively related to the indirect contributions. Greater total economic contributions of the home-based family businesses was associated with a male manager, more family members, more employees, non-family employees in the business, engaged in restaurant business, located in Seoul, and higher perceived success on the business.
