  • Family factors included in this study of the relation of family environment to the moral development of young children were: socioeconomic status, maternal values, mother's religion and the quality of the home environment. Forty-one 6- to 7-year-old children and their mothers were interviewed and observed in their home settings. Results indicated that the quality of the home environment was positively related to the moral development of children. Mothers who provided a more stimulating home environment had children who received higher scores on the Moral Development Scale. Regression analyses indicated that the quality of the home environment was the most significant predictor of the moral development of young children.

  • This paper introduces a prototype smart home environment that is built in the research building to demonstrate the feasibility of a robot-assisted future home environment. Localization, navigation, object recognition and handling are core functionalities that an intelligent service robot should provide. A huge amount of research effort has been made to make the service robot perform these functions with its own sensors, actuators and a knowledge base. With all complicated configuration of sensors, actuators and a database, the robot could only perform the given tasks in a predefined environment or show the limited capabilities in a natural environment. We started a smart home environment for service robots for simple service robots to provide reliable services by communicating with the environment through the wireless sensor networks. In this paper, we introduce various types of smart devices that are developed for assisting the robot in the environment by providing sensor and actuator capabilities. In addition, we present how the devices are integrated to constitute the smart home environment for service robots.

  • According to IT development, smart home services is providing remote service, monitoring service and other various services through smart home devices based on network. But, smart home environment exists security threats such as data falsification, illegal authentication and invasion of privacy through a malicious device. Smart home is studying to prevent these security threats, but the studies of smart home environment security are still in early stage of development and the studies of group key management method is lacking in smart home. In this paper, we propose the group key management method for secure device in smart home.

  • Purpose: This study aimed at providing guidelines and educational manuals on infection control for the home care environment, by assessing the knowledge and performance among the caregivers in home care. Methods: Data were collected from January to March 2013. Participants were 172 caregivers who were registered in the home nursing center of university hospitals. Results: The total score on the level of knowledge of infection control was 13.28 points (${\pm}3.49$) out of 20 points. Secondly, 4.15 points were obtained for individual hygiene management, 4.14 points for hand wash, and 3.86 points for environment management. Lastly, the relationship between the knowledge and performance of infection control showed a significant positive correlation (r=0.37, p<.001). Conclusion: In many instances, the caregivers in the home environment provide nursing care for patients with chronic diseases and make use of various invasive devices. This study recommends the development of a manual or educational guidelines on infection control that can be used by caregivers at the home.

  • With the development of modem communication and networking technology, more and more computing and communication facilities, automation equipments, hone information appliances and different type of networking terminals come into home all over the world. The user can control information appliances in home environments. The home environment can communicate with the external network via phone line, wired LAN, wireless LAN, or mixed. However, home information appliances that are connected to the external network are under attack and need to be secured. So specifying suitable security requirements and policies for digital home environment is critical in hone networking environments. This paper analyzes the possible vulnerability to home network, and specifies the security requirements derived from the vulnerability analysis for digital home environment

  • This study investigated the relationships among personal characteristics(sex, self-concepts, depression, fear, internal locus of control), home environment(physical and psychological environment, parenting style, attachment to mother), school environment(teacher support, peer victimization), and Korean-Chinese children's aggression in Yanji, China. Two hundred and two(90 boys and 112 girls) 6th graders rated themselves on a questionnaire. Correlation analysis, and multiple regression were conducted using SPSS Window vers. 12. Alienation to mother, and overt and relational victimization by peers were positively related, and communication with mother was negatively related to children's proactive aggression. Alienation to mother, and overt victimization by peers were positively related, and communication with mother, support by teacher were negatively related to children's reactive aggression. Alienation to mother, and overt and relational victimization by peers were positively related, and communication with mother and support by teacher were negatively related to children's relational aggression. The factor with the greatest contribution to explaining the aggression of Korean-Chinese in Yanbin was the alienation to mother.

  • The rapid increase in the number of patients with chronic diseases is an important public healthcare issue in many countries, which accelerates many studies on a healthcare system that can, whenever and wherever, extract and process patient data. A patient with a chronic disease conducts self-management in an out-of-hospital environment, particularly in an at-home environment, so it is important to provide integrated and personalized healthcare services for effective care. To help provide effective care for chronic disease patients, we propose a service flow and a new cloud-based personalized healthcare system architecture supporting both at-home and at-hospital environments. The system considers the different characteristics of at-hospital and at-home environments, and it provides various chronic disease care services. A prototype implementation and a predicted cost model are provided to show the effectiveness of the system. The proposed personalized healthcare system can support cost-effective disease care in an at-hospital environment and personalized self-management of chronic disease in an at-home environment.

  • This study develops normative scores of the Infant/Toddler version of the Home Observation for Measurement of the Environment (IT-HOME) inventory for Korean infants and toddlers. We selected 482 0- to 36-month-old infants and families by a stratified sampling procedure that considered residency, age, and gender of children. The pass rate, discrimination rate, and internal consistency were analyzed for the item analysis. Statistical validity included intercorrelation among the IT-HOME subscales, correlation between IT-HOME scores and environmental status variables, and correlation between IT-HOME and Korean Bayley Scales of Infant Development second edition (K-BSID-II) scores. Normative scores were prepared by percentile ranks. The results of this study were as follows: First, 45 items were acceptable for Korean subjects with few exceptions. IT-HOME was developed to screen unfavorable environmental factors during infancy; therefore, items such as 12, 17, 23, 39, 44 need to be retained even though they had low discriminating power. Second, IT-HOME subscales were correlated, and IT-HOME was significantly related to parents' education level, household income level, and infant' developmental levels. Third, percentile scores and the median of each IT-HOME subscales were suggested as normative scores. We discussed the normative scores of the IT-HOME to screen the quality of home environments for children aged 0-36 months in Korea, and provide the intervention basis for the at-risk population.
