  • The development of hollow fiber reactor system for the production of chiral 1,2-epoxy-7-octence by epoxide hydrolase for Rhodotorula glutinis was investigated. Dodecane with high solubility of the racemic substrate passed through the lumen side of the hollow fiber reactor and cell suspension was recirculated through the shell side. The 2nd hollow fiber reactor was coupled to the production reactor to extract the diol byproduct which was the inhibitor of epoxide hydrolase. Optically pure (S)-1,2-epoxy-7-octene (0.6 M in dodecane) could be obtained using hollow-fiber reactor system.

중공 T형상의 형단조에 관한 연구 (A Study on Die Forging of a Hollow T-shaped Part)

  • Traditional forging of a hollow T-shaped part has been applied to forge a solid T-shaped product from a solid billet and then to machine the hollow in that. In a case, a hollow T-shaped part can be forged by backward-extruding from a solid billet. In this study, four types of forging were suggested for manufacture of hollow T-shaped parts. Forging simulations for each of these forging methods were carried out to investigate folding defect, metal flow pattern, effective strain, and forging loads. Experimental works were carried out to be compared with the simulation results. Here, the ratio of the thickness of the hollow tube to that of the flange was selected to investigate a forging defect like folding.

  • We compared the antitumor activity between hollow fiber assay and xenographic animal assay on thirty herbal plants. It is evaluated that the antitumor activity of above 30% is regarded as 'positive response', and its of below 30% is regarded as 'negative response'. The two herbal plants extracts (Ulmus davidiana Hedyotis diffusa) among thirty herbal plants show to be positive in xenographic animal assay and they were also correctly identified as positive by the hollow fiber assay. The correlation of the hollow fiber assay data with xenographic animal assay would suggest that hollow fiber assay presents a potentially unique tool to develop the herbal medicine for cancer.

Effect of moisture on the compressive strength of low-strength hollow concrete blocks

  • In order to study the effect of moisture on the compressive strength of low-strength hollow concrete blocks, an experimental study was carried out on 96 samples of locally manufactured hollow concrete blocks collected from three different locations. Uniaxial compression tests were conducted on dry specimens and three types of saturated specimens with moisture contents of 30%, 50% and 80% respectively. The range of moisture content adopted covered the range within which the concrete block samples are saturated in the dry and monsoon seasons. The compressive strength of low-strength hollow concrete blocks decreases with increase in moisture content and the relationship between compressive strength of hollow concrete blocks and their moisture content can be considered to be linear. However, the strength degradation of 30% moist concrete blocks with respect to dry blocks is relatively low and can be considered to be comparable to dry concrete blocks. A formula indicating the relationship between the moisture content and compressive strength of low-strength hollow concrete blocks is also proposed.

  • The characteristics of the hollow cathode discharge were investigated. Temperature distribution of the hollow cathode was investigated and I-V curves of the hollow cathode discharge were obtained. In this paper variables are chamber pressure, Ar gas flow rate injected through the cathode tube and the gap distance between cathode and anode. The inter electrode electron temperature and density were measured by Langmuir probe.

Electrorheology of Hollow Polyaniline Pimelate Suspension by Conduction Model

  • The electro rheological behavior of the hollow polyaniline pimelate suspension in silicone oil was investigated. Hollow polyaniline pimelate suspension showed a typical ER response (Bingham flow behavior) upon application of an electric field. The shear stress for the suspension exhibited the dependence with a factor equals to 0.84 power on the electric field. The experimental results for the hollow polyaniline pimelate suspension correlated with the conduction models of Tang et al., and this suspension behaved as an ER fluid.

중공형상 및 재료의 영향을 고려한 도넛형 이방향 중공슬래브의 일방향 전단강도 (One-Way Shear Strength of Donut Type Biaxial Hollow Slab Considered Hollow Shapes and Materials)

  • 이 연구는 도넛형 중공형성체를 사용한 이방향 중공슬래브의 일방향 전단 성능에 관한 연구이다. 최근 건물의 고층화 및 장경간화로 인하여, 다양한 자중 저감형 슬래브 공법에 대한 연구가 진행되고 있다. 이방향 중공슬래브 시스템은 구조성능 저하를 최소화하면서 자중을 효율적으로 줄일 수 있는 시스템으로 알려져 있다. 하지만 기존 연구에 따르면 이방향 중공슬래브는 일반 RC 슬래브에 비해 낮은 전단강도를 가지고 있으며, 이는 중공형상 및 중공형성체 재료에 의해 영향을 받는 것으로 보고되고 있다. 또한 현재의 설계기준은 이방향 중공슬래브의 일방향 전단강도에 대해 명확한 기준을 제시하지 못하고 있다. 도넛형 이방향 중공슬래브의 일방향 전단강도를 확인하기 위하여, 총 4개의 전단강도 실험체를 제작/실험하였다. 그 중 한 개의 실험체는 기준 RC 실험체이고 나머지는 모두 중공슬래브이다. 변수는 도넛형과 비도넛형 두 가지의 중공형상 및 일반 플라스틱과 유리섬유 강화 플라스틱 중공형성체로 설정하였다. 실험 결과, 중공형상과 재료에 따라 이방향 중공슬래브의 전단강도는 차이를 보임을 확인할 수 있었다. 또한 이 결과를 바탕으로 기존의 구형 중공슬래브의 일방향 전단강도 산정시 사용되는 유효단면 산정법의 도넛형 이방향 중공슬래브 적용에 대한 문제점을 도출하였다.

원통형 중공롤러의 변형거동 안전성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Displacement Behavior Safety of Cylindrical Hollow Rollers)

  • 본 연구에서는 원통형 중공롤러의 변위거동 안전성에 대한 해석적 연구를 수행하였다. 세 개의 튜브들 사이에 Y형상을 갖는 컬럼 구조물을 설치한 중공롤러를 개발하여 유한요소법으로 변형거동 안전성을 해석하였다. 동일한 크기와 중량을 갖는 두 개의 중공롤러 모델에 대한 해석결과에 의하면, 기존의 중공롤러는 세 개의 튜브 사이에 새로이 설계된 Y형상을 갖는 컬럼을 설치한 중공롤러에 비해 4~6.6% 낮은 변형거동 안전성을 보여주고 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 중공롤러의 강도 안전성을 높이고, 전체적인 중량을 낮춰 소비되는 전기에너지를 줄이기 위해서는 Y형상 컬럼을 설치한 새로운 중공롤러를 사용하는 것이 바람직함을 알 수 있다.

One-pot 습식화학공정을 이용한 TiO2 중공 구조체 제조 및 광촉매 활성 연구 (Fabrication and Photocatalytic Activity of TiO2 Hollow Structures using One-pot Wet Chemical Process)

  • A facile one-pot wet chemical process to prepare pure anatase TiO2 hollow structures using ammonium hexafluorotitanate as a precursor is developed. By defining the formic acid ratio, we fabricate TiO2 hollow structures containing fluorine on the surface. The TiO2 hollow sphere is composed of an anatase phase containing fluorine by various analytical techniques. A possible formation mechanism for the obtained hollow samples by self-transformation and Ostwald ripening is proposed. The TiO2 hollow structures containing fluorine exhibits 1.2 - 2.7 times higher performance than their counterparts in photocatalytic activity. The enhanced photocatalytic activity of the TiO2 hollow structures is attributed to the combined effects of high crystallinity, specific surface area (62 ㎡g-1), and the advantage of surface fluorine ions (at 8%) having strong electron-withdrawing ability of the surface ≡ Ti-F groups reduces the recombination of photogenerated electrons and holes.
