Previous researches on tourism have been focused on tourist facilities, the development of tourist attractions, economic effects, cultural policies, etc. However, the present study makes a cultural approach to historical cities to explore the meaning of places formed through history and the historicity of places, assuming that the temporal and spatial characteristics of Hanseong-bu can be developed into tourism resources. Major places of Hanseong-bu are classified according to their functions and cultural meanings, and these factors are associated with the geographical structure of the area. By landform and cultural characteristics during the Chosun Dynasty, Hanseong-bu is divided into the central part, the boundary area, and the outskirts. In addition, different elements, which can be developed into tourism resources, are found according to the landscape of Hanseong-bu, the character as a dynastic city, the environs inside the wall, and differences among localities reflecting pre-modem lifestyle.

  • Unlike the extrinsic Modern Functionalist, Louis I. Kahn, a modern American architect, had been pursued intrinsic architectural nature based on historicity; The Essence of Architecture, during his lifetime. That is the reason why he is generally called as one of frontiers toward Post-Modern Architecture. However, the actual meaning of his 'The Essence of Architecture' is so vague and unclear until today, because not only his complex personal thought and career but various and subjective interpretation by so many later architects and architectural theorists. In the context, this paper attempt to reanalyze and clarify Kahn's idea of 'The Essence of Architecture' with the deep and objective view of aesthetics focused on a distinguished contemporary German philosopher, N. Hartman's idea of phenomenological relation and the stratified structure of a work of art.

  • This research applies the discursive approach to investigate the social transformation of students' conceptual model of differential equations. The analysis focuses on the students' use of metaphor in class in order to find kinds of metaphor used, their characteristics, and a pattern in the use of metaphor. Based on the analysis, it is concluded that the students' conceptual model of differential equations gradually becomes transformed with respect to the historical and cultural structure of the communal practice of mathematics. The findings suggest that through participating in the daily practice of mathematics as a historical and cultural product, a learner becomes socially transformed to a certain kind of a cultural being with historicity. This implies that mathematics education is concerned with the formation of historical and cultural identity at a fundamental level.

  • The formal constructions of deconstructive architecture in the contemporary fashion expressed as intertexruality, difference and trace and the working of DIS and DE, and intertextuality in deconstructive has manifested itself as the intertextuality of material, hybridization of items, the blending of modes and the bi-sexuality of sexes. And the difference and trace found in fashion are fantastic and playful and come to exist as historicity. DIS and DE in fashion shows the retrogression of gravity through non-structural silhouette. Their disentring expression emerged as construction through mixture and repetition as well as overlapping of planes or spaces. And their disjuctive representation appeared in the form of mutual juxtaposition and substitution with the double-side of formal construction in fuctional terms.
