To this end, this study uses a time series analysis, as research method, based on old maps and aerial photographs to investigate the changes in the park over time and to interpret them based on the historical and cultural changes in modern and contemporary history. As a result of the study, the park not only has (1) evidence of major events in modern and contemporary history, but also (2) historical value as an urban park based on the first urban plan in Korea, and (3) very important heritage value that shows the rapidly changing civic life in modern and contemporary times. However, despite the identification of heritage values in this study, further research is needed to explore and excavate in-depth data on the park in order to more clearly identify, restore, and utilize the heritage values of the park.

  • In 2018, the Cultural Heritage Administration of Korea introduced a new system that registers national cultural heritage in street and district units. Yeongju City's Modern Historical and Cultural District was selected as the first trial region. This grouping method breaks through conservation and utilization limitations of cultural heritage in individual building units. Thus, the issue is how will such historical and cultural spaces be grouped, conserved and managed. Hence, this study identifies the current situation of buildings in the Modern Historical and Cultural Street of Yeongju and conducts an experimental survey. Based on this, the types of modern architecture were classified, and the architectural groups were extracted and categorized to preserve and utilize the architecture. For these purposes, priority groups were determined by evaluating them based on five criteria: archetype, placeness, politicalness, typicality and originality. The modern architecture in the Modern Historical and Cultural Street of Yeongju have undergone many changes. The residential transformation of small and medium-sized cities during modern times can be understood as a process of settlement and nativization.

  • Historical dramas are changing in response to the public who wants more dramatic development, and historical costumes are also expressed in a modern sense. The purpose of this study is to examine the modernization of historical costumes in historical dramas and how the modernization of historical costumes in historical dramas is fostered from the learner's point of view with suggesting implications. As a result of this study, first, the essential problem with the modernization of historical costumes was the excessive modern transformation that undermines historical facts in historical dramas. Second, the negative perceptions of the modernization of historical costumes in historical dramas included the loss of the unique Korean identity, decreased immersion in drama, and the educational influence of media. Positive perceptions focused on the increased interest through raising awareness of traditional culture, compromises on changes in the times, and increased visual play of the public. Third, the implications of the modernization of historical costumes in historical dramas require the awareness improvement of participants in historical drama and a thorough preliminary investigation by the costume designer on the historical costume, an in-depth study of traditional costumes, a systematic educational approach, viewers' attention, and government effort.

  • In this paper, we discussed methods and problems for estimating historical shorelines on a reclaimed land. Since many of coastal lands are unregistered in Korea, reclamation of public waters could cause complicated land ownership dispute. Unlike cadastral boundaries, historical shorelines can be represented by those of various locations due to lack of legal definition of shoreline as well as characteristics of shoreline changes, which directly influence on the calculation of coastal and submerged land areas. Through a case study for Anjeong industrial complex, a systematic method of investigating historical shorelines was suggested to resolve the problems. For a rocky coast where shoreline changes are not likely to occur, a shoreline based on tidal datum was retrieved using aerial photographs taken before the construction of reclamation. Compared with ground survey data, the shoreline was accurate, indicating that the digital photogrammetry was reliable.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate changes in the cooking process of $Bibimbab$(cooked rice mixed with various ingredients) appeared in cook books published after Korean modern era, approximately from late 19th century to the present. 7 cook books were chosen to be analyzed. It is found that the ingredients were mixed with the rice before being served in the cook books written in late 19th century until mid 20th century, while the ingredients were separately decorated on top of the rice in the cook books written from mid 20th century until late 20th century. $Gochujang$(Korean chilly paste), which is common spicy seasoning for $Bibimbab$ in the present time, appeared only in $Hangukeumak$(1987) which is written in late 20th century. Prior to $Hangukeumak$(1987), chilly powder or chilly was used for chilly-based spicy seasoning. Cook books written in late 19th century until mid 20th century, ingredients used for $Bibimbab$ had complicated cooking methods such as $Jeonyueo$(assorted pan-fried delicacies), $Nurumi$(fried beef skewer with various vegetables) and $Sanjeok$(grilled beef skewer). From mid 20th century until late 20th century, among the cook books analyzed in this research, only $Hankukyoribaekguasajeon$(1976) suggested $Jeonyueo$ as an ingredient, and in general, the cooking method for preparing beef became simpler. For further studies, firstly, the cooking procedures used for $Bibimbab$ in the prior period to the Korean modern era need to be examined for more information about the changes of cooking style of $Bibimbab$. Secondly, new $Bibimbab$ recipes for modern restaurants could be created by using the recipes used in the historical cook books. Finally, the definitions of culinary terms used in historical cook books need to be clarified.

Historical aerial photos from National Aerial Photography Program (NAPP), National High Altitude Photography (NHAP), Survey Photography and Landsat satellite data were used. • In the world history in the rein of totalitarianism cultural project of government had been activated, and consequently of it official culture had been organized. But at the same time on the other side of it people('narod'), who didn't have cultural means for active expression of own opinion on the reality, had expressed world-view and judgement informally in everyday language. In the literature of autocracy, subjected to censorship, had been expressed and fixed mythically idealized image of sovereign and his works. But in the folklore the image of ruler had been created by liberal fantasy of people. This article examined russian literature and folklore texts of 18 century, when russian people suffered from rapid and dramatic changes, caused by Peter I. Although russian literature of 18 century had gone over to the new literary regime, it still accepted political mechanism as dominant of age, and consequently in the literary texts of this century Peter I was represented as ideal person and great monarch. But various images in folklore texts show that people's opinion on ruler and his activities couldn't be controlled. In other worlds, diverse images of Peter I in folklore texts reflect clear and plain historical consciousness of people. This analysis reveals not only difference between mechanism of idealization of government and historical consciousness of people, but also meaning of cultural memory as indicator of historical reality.
