하악전돌증 환자에서 기관내 삽관을 위한 기도평가에 관한 연구 (Airway Evaluation for Endotracheal Intubation of Mandibular Prognathic Patient)

  • Background: The fundamental responsibility of an anesthesiologist is to maintain adequate gas exchange. Failure to maintain a patent airway can result in brain damage or death. Generally, in patients with mandibular prognathism, who have the protruded mandible, the mask ventilation was thought to be not easy. The purpose of this study was to observe the degree of the difficulty of airway management in mandibular prognathism using some anatomic criteria for defining and grading difficulty of airway and difficulty of endotracheal intubation with direct laryngoscope. Methods: The observations and measurements are done to the 54 patients with mandibular prognathism, who were scheduled for corrective esthetic surgery. The case study is done to the 30 patients with normal mandible for control group. In all patients, mouth opening distance (MOD), mouse opening angle (MOA), mandibular length (ML), mandibular depth (MD), thyromental distance (TMD), thyromental area (TMA), Mallampati grades, and Cormack and Lehane grades are measured. T-test and Chi-square test are done (P < 0.05). Results: In the mandibular prognathism cases, the measurements of MD, TMD and TMA are more greater than those of controls (P < 0.05). Mallampati grades with tongue thrust are higher in the female mandibular prognathism cases than those of female controls. Most of the grades of the mandibular prognathism cases with Cormack and Lehane grading system are I or II being easy intubation cases (P < 0.05) Conclusions: In the patients of mandibular prognathism, the intubation with laryngoscope will be easer than that of normal mandible in general. It is for that their laryngeal aperture can be easily visible when the laryngoscope are used.

초등 영재와 일반학생간의 학업성패에 대한 귀인성향과 자기조절학습전략 사용의 차이 (The Differences of Attribution Tendency and Self-regulated Learning Strategy between Gifted Students and General Students in Elementary School)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 초등 영재와 일반학생의 학업성패에 대한 귀인성향과 자기조절 학습전략 사용상의 차이를 분석하는데 있다. 연구 대상은 교육청 주관 영재교육원과 대학교 부설 영재교육원에 다니고 있는 초등학교 5$\sim$6학년 영재와 일반학생 각각 105명이다. 본 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 학업성패에 대한 영재와 일반학생의 귀인성향의 차이는 능력 요인에서 나타났다. 즉 영재는 일반학생에 비해 성공을 능력요인으로 귀인하는 성향이 높았으며, 일반학생은 영재에 비해 실패를 능력부족으로 귀인하는 성향이 높은 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 영재는 일반학생보다 자기조절학습전략 사용능력이 전반적으로 우수한 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 과학영재가 인문영재보다 숙달목표를 더 지향하는 젓으로 밝혀졌으며, 영재 여학생이 남학생에 비하여 학습에 대한 성취 가치를 더 많이 부여하고 있는 것으로 나타났다.

중학교 청소년의 고위험 건강 행위 관련요인 (Factors Related to High-risk Health Behavior in Middle School Adolescents)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to describe high-risk health behaviors in middle school adolescents and to identify factors related to this behavior. Method: This survey study employed a self administered questionnaire given to 621 students enrolled in one middle school located in Gyeonggi province. Using the cluster sampling method, 4 classes from the 7th, 8th, and 9th grades were selected. The survey was done between April 20 and May 19, 2004. Data were analyzed using SAS. Result: The results showed that 19.1% of adolescents smoked cigarettes and 8.4 % drank regularly. The mean score for resilience was 6.92 (range:0-10) and for depression, 23.62 (range:0-50). The adolescents in higher grades reported significantly more experience with pornography. Also, adolescents who reported have fewer conversations with their parents had significantly more experience with pornography. Depression was significantly higher for those students who had better academic skills and higher family income. Resilience level was significantly higher for the students who reported better schools records and higher family income. The most important factor related to the high risk behaviors, depression, and resilience was conversations with parents. Conclusion: This study suggests that to develop an effective high-risk health behavior prevention program for adolescents, it is necessary to include communication skills with the parents.

Use of High Zinc Bath Entry Strip Temperature to Solve Coating Problems

  • The auto industry is demanding more ductile high-strength steel grades to build lighter and stronger car bodies. The hot-dip galvanizing problems of these new steel grades are creating a demand for an improved method to control zinc wettability. The simplest way to improve zinc wettability on industrial hot-dip galvanizing lines is to increase the strip immersion temperature at zinc bath entry for enhancing the aluminothermic reaction. However, this practice increases the reactivity due to overheating the zinc in the snout which induces the formation of brittle Fe-Zn compounds at the strip/coating interface with the formation of higher amounts of dross in the zinc bath and snout contamination. Thus, this simple practice can only be utilized for short production periods of one to two hours without deteriorating coating quality. This problem has been solved by employing a technique that allows the use of a higher and attuned strip immersion temperature at zinc bath entry while still maintaining a constantly low zinc bath temperature. This has been proven to provide the solution for both the improved wettability and a significant reduction in the amounts of dross in the zinc bath.

중학생의 정서지능, 연예인 우상화가 학교생활적응에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of Emotional Intelligence and Entertainer Idolization on School Life Adjustment in Middle School Students)

  • This study examined the effects of emotional intelligence and entertainer idolization on school life adjustment of middle school students. For this study, questionnaires were administered to 300 first graders attending three different middle schools. The results were analyzed using correlation and hierarchical regression analysis with SPSS/PC window program. The results were as follows. Firstly, general trends of emotional intelligence showed a slightly higher than average score. The score of entertainer idolization was relatively low and the characteristic factor score was higher than the assessment factor score. For school life adjustment, the factor having the highest influence was relationship with friends. Secondly, the most influential factor on school life adjustment was emotional regulation, followed by academic grades, emotional recognition, emotional expression, and empathy. In conclusion, the level of entertainer idolization in middle school students was moderate. The important influential factors on school life adjustment were emotional intelligence factors and academic grades. In particular, emotional regulation was found to have the greatest influence.

플립러닝 교수법에서 사전학습태도가 학업성취도에 미치는 영향 (응용열역학 교과목 적용 사례) (Effects of Pre-learning Attitude on Academic Achievement in the Flipped Learning Methodology (A Case of Applied Thermodynamics))

  • In this study, the effects of pre-learning attitude on learning participation and academic achievement was analyzed when applying the flipped learning methodology to engineering subject education. The modified PARTN teaching and learning model was applied, and pre-class survey, assessment on learning in pre-class, and post-class survey were conducted to analyze the effectiveness of flipped learning. The results were analyzed for 24 students who took the applied thermodynamics lecture. They were asked to take the course with the videos provided in the pre-class stage, and a pre-learning assessment was conducted to measure the completeness and understanding of the learning. As a result of the study, it was found that students with relatively excellent learning ability had excellent pre-learning evaluation results and excellent final academic achievement. In addition, the lower the pre-learning completion rate within the pre-learning period or the higher the learning rate using mobile devices, the more difficult it was to faithfully complete pre-learning, leading to poor pre-learning evaluation results. Meanwhile, the survey revealed that conducting pre-learning assessments were helpful in encouraging individual learning. In addition, cases reflecting pre-learning evaluation results to course grades showed higher pre-learning evaluation results than cases not reflecting pre-learning evaluation results to course grades, and in flipped learning classes, pre-learning evaluations act as a factor that promotes pre-class learning.

패션 기업의 ESG 활동등급 수준이 경영성과 및 기업가치에 미치는 영향의 차이 (The Difference in the Impact of Fashion Companies' ESG Activity Grade Levels on Management Performance and Corporate Value)

  • This study focused on analyzing the difference in the impact of non-financial performance, specifically ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) activity grade level, on management performance and corporate value among the 25 fashion companies listed on the Korea Exchange that completed their ESG evaluation in 2022. The companies were categorized into three levels based on their ESG evaluations: ESG Integrated Grade (ESG-T), ESG-E (Environmental), ESG-S (Social), and ESG-G (Governance). The study then empirically analyzed how these levels affected management performance and corporate value. The empirical analysis revealed significant differences in the impact on management performance and corporate value depending on the ESG activity grade level. Companies with higher ESG grades exhibited better management performance and higher corporate values across all ESG sub-variables (ESG-T, ESG-E, ESG-S, ESG-G) compared to those with lower grades. This finding demonstrates the influence of ESG activity grade levels on improving management performance and enhancing corporate value in fashion companies. The results of this research provide meaningful insights into the direction of sustainable management through ESG activities in fashion companies.

도시지역 일부 고등학생들의 우울과 불안에 관한 조사 연구 (A Study on the Depression and Anxiety of High School Students in an Urban Area)

  • This study has examined the degree of depression and anxiety among high school students in an urban area and then explored the factors influencing their depression and/or anxiety status. Self-administered questionnaires were offered to 2,381 students from ten high schools in Daejon Metropolitan City. The items for investigation included such factors as various characteristics of school and family life, daily life style, and the degree of depression and anxiety. Based on the study results, the following conclusions were made; 1. The distribution according to the depression degree has shown that 61.9% of students were normal, 32.9% of students had mild depression, 5.0% moderate depression, and 0.3% severe depression. As for anxiety, 40.2% of students were normal, while 19.1% were classified as having anxiety and 40.7% borderline anxiety. 2. As regards to the degree of depression and anxiety, it was greater in girls than boys, in 3rd graders than 1st and 2nd graders, and in the groups who have recieved lower grades in studies, who had poor relations with their friends and a low feeling of satisfaction with school life. In particular, concerning various characteristics of family life, the scores of depression and anxiety were higher in the groups whose financial conditions were poor, whose parents' interests were lower, whose degree of satisfaction with their family and school life was lower, than their counterparts. 3. According to their life styles higher scores of depression and anxiety were found in the groups whose sleeping time was inappropriate, whose breakfasts were skipped, who ate daily snacks, who didn't take regular exercises, and who had poor health habits, compared to their counterparts, respectively. 4. As for the correlation between the degree of depression and its associated variables, the higher scores of depression were in positive correlation with the groups who had lower grades in studies, poor relation with their friends, low feeling of satisfaction with school and home life, low parents' interest, poor subjective condition of health, breakfast skipping, lack of regular exercises, and lower indices of health habits. 5. As for anxiety, the higher scores of anxiety were in the positive correlation with the groups with poor relation with their friends, low feeling of satisfaction with school and family life, poor subjective condition of health, lack of regular exercises, and poor health habits. 6. The influential factors on the depression of students were selected such as subjective condition of health, sex, feeling of satisfaction with family and school life, grades in studies, relation with their friends, presence of regular exercises, degree of interest of parents, sleeping time, cigarette smoking and eating breakfast. 7. The influential factors on the anxiety state of students were selected such as subjective condition of health, feeling of satisfaction with family and school life, sex, sleeping time, regular exercises, cigarette smoking, snacking and relations with their friends. The present study results suggest that girls rather than boys, higher graders than lower ones are more vulnerable to anxiety and depression state, and besides, various characteristics of school and family life, and daily life style can be influential on students' emotional states. Therefore, better management of psychological status of students is thought to require a wide variety of measures to modify the influencing factors and to encourage social support.

농촌가정 자녀들의 방과후 활동에 대한 연구 (After-school activities of rural children)

  • After-school activities were examined for 449 rural children in first through seventh grades. Childrens engagement of after-school activities were significantly different by child and family characteristics, especially childrens age and behavior control ability. Findings showed a decline in amount of time spent studying and reading and a raise in going to a game-room. Childrens school achievement, emotional and social development were also differed by a range of after-school activities. Children spent more time in studying and reading showed higher grades, happiness, school life. Teachers reported greater aggressive behavior and less adjustment of school life among children participating more in game related activities and hanging out. Watching TV, doing house chores and visiting friends were not variables which showed different outcomes.

Adolescent′s Nutrition Knowledge

  • The growing concern for poor dietary habits among adolescents has prompted many researcher to study the adolescents' knowledge and beliefs on a number of nutrition-related issues. Following that precedent, this study was conducted to evaluate the nutrition knowledge of a sample of adolescents in a middle school in Ohio. The participants were 532 students in the sixth, seventh, and eighth grades between the ages of 11 and 13 from Shawnee Middle School in Lima, Ohio. The students were asked to answer a questionnaire CANKAP (Comprehensive Assessment of Nutrition Knowledge, Attitudes, and Practices), which measured their nutrition knowledge. The CANKAP questionnaire consisted of 20 questions for sixth grade students and 25 questions for seventh and eighth grade students. Also, the participants were asked to identify their gender. According to the result, nutrition knowledge of middle school children was weak. The findings indicated that females had higher mean nutrition knowledge scores than boys in the seventh and eighth grades. There was no significant difference in the mean value of nutrition knowledge between sixth grade boys and girls.
