  • In the initial deployment stage of optical access networks, optical network systems and optical fiber cables have been provided mainly for commercial buildings or users in KT. According to the demand of residential users who expect to subscribe broadband multimedia services as high bit rate services, the optical access networks get closer to the residential users as FTTCab or FTTH So, it is very important to install optical access networks economically and effectively because that the total cost and usability of optical fiber cables depends on that. Especially, one of characteristics in access networks is the possibility of variation on services demands and technology evolution. Also access networks must be prepared for the final deployment, FTTH. Therefore, the designing and planning of optical access networks are coming to be very important activity for most of telecommunications service providers.

  • Currently, Wireless LAN(WLAN) service is widely deployed to provide high speed wireless Internet access through the mobile stations such as notebook and PDA. To provide enhanced security and user access control in the public WLAN area, WLAN access points should have the capability of IEEE 802.1x-based user authentication and authorization functionality. In this paper, we provide a brief understanding of IEEE 802.1x standards and related protocols like EAPOL(Extended Authentication Protocol Over LAN), EAP, RADIUS and describe how the IEEE 802.1x is designed and implemented in our embedded linux-based WLAN AP which is named i-WiNG. (Intelligent Wireless Internet Gateway). For the network security and user authenti -cation purposes, a supplicant who wants to access Internet should be authorized to access the AP port using the EAPOL.

  • Because of the rapid increasing of network user, there are some problems to tolerate the network overhead. Recently, the research and technology of the user-level for high performance and low latency than TCP/IP which relied upon the kernel for processing the messages. For example, there is an Infiniband technology. The Infiniband Trade Association (IBTA) has been proposed as an industry standard for both communication between processing node and I/O devices and for inter-processor communication. It replaces the traditional bus-based interconnect with a switch-based network for connecting processing node and I/O devices. Also Infiniband uses RDMA (Remote DMA) for low latency of CPU and OS to communicate between Remote nodes. In this paper, we develop the SRP (SCSI RDMA Protocol) which is Storage Access Protocol on Infiniband network. And will compare to FC (Fibre Channle) based I-SCSI (Internet SCSI) that it is used to access storage on Etherent Fabric.

  • The surge of Internet traffic makes the bottleneck nowadays. This problem can be reduced by substituting the media of network, routers and switches with more high-performance goods. However, we focused radically the server performance of processing the service requests. We prepose the method improving performance of server in the Linux kernel stack. This accelerator accepts the requests from many clients, and processes them using not user threads but kernel thread. To do so, we can reduce the overhead caused by frequent calling of system calls and the overhead of context switching between threads. Furthermore, we implement CPN(Coloured Petri Net) model. By using the CPN model criteria, we can analyze the characteristics of operation times in addition to the reachability of system. Benchmark of the system proves the model is valid.

  • In this paper, a CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access) field engineering system is designed and implemented for managing cellular telecommunication base stations. For high quality of CDMA service, optimized cell planning is crucial. For such cell planning, base stations must be managed based on analysis of CDMA field dta. The proposed system consists of two modules: a measurement module and au analysis of CDMA field dta. eh proposed system consists of tow modules; a measurement module and an analysis module. The measurement module collects various CDMA field dta and displays them on a vector map in a real-time manner. The analysis module associates measured data with various related information, e.g. base station information, and process them statistically. The proposed system can drastically reduce base station management cost.

  • Multiprotocol Label Switching is an initiating IETF that integrated Layer2 information network links(bandwidth, latency, utilization) to Layer 3(IP) with a particular autonomous system(or ISP) in order to simplify and improve IP-packet exchange. MPLS gives network operators a grate deal of flexibility to divert and route traffic around link failures, congestion, and bottlenecks. The MPLS has advantages that will be able to solve existing problem of Network that ISP have had IP, QoS, Gigabit forwarding and traffic engineering. The purpose of this study is to measure Access-list and the capacities of PE Router that would operate as MPLS. Many ISP using MPLS service to handle high-speed internet traffic with apply to firewall in future.

  • 3GPP(3rd Generation Partnership Project)는 3세대 이동통신인 UMTS(Universal Mobile Telecommunication System)의 초기 표준화 이후 HSPA(High Speed Packet Access), MBMS(Multimedia Broadcast/Multicast Service) 등의 기술 개발로 UMTS 시스템을 지속적으로 발전시켜 왔다. 그리고, 최근 새로운 무선 접속 기술에 기반한 LTE(Long Term Evolution)시스템에 대한 표준화를 거의 완료하고 ITU-R(International Telecommunications Union-Radio)의 IMT-Advanced 요구사항을 만족하는 LTE-Advanced 시스템에 대한 연구를 진행하고 있다. 한편 최근 다양한 무선 접속 기술간 핸드오버 기술이 중요한 이슈로 부각됨에 따라 LTE-Advanced에서도 이를 수용하기 위한 기술이 요구된다. 본 고에서는 3GPP에서 추진하고 있는 LTE-Advanced기술의 표준화 동향과 향후 이에 적용 가능한 다양한 무선 접속 기술간의 핸드오버 지원 기술을 살펴봄으로써 LTE-Advanced에서의 끊김없는 이동성(seamless mobility) 제공을 위한 근간을 제시하고자 한다.

Transition of Service Paradigm from Service Recovery to Proactive Service (사후 서비스에서 선제적 서비스로 서비스 패러다임의 전환)

  • In this study, we used the big data of Voice of Customer (VOC) related to high-speed Internet products to look at the causes of perceived quality and the possibility of proactive service. In order to verify the possibility of proactive service, we collected VOC data from 13 facilities and equipment of a mobile communication service company, and then conducted 𝒙2 test to verify that there was a statistically significant difference between the actual VOC observation values and expected values. We found statistical evidence that proactive service is possible through real-time monitoring for the six disability alarms among the 13 facilities and equipment, which are FTTH-R Equipment ON/OFF, FTTH-EV Line Error Detection, Port Faulty, FTTH-R Line Error Detection, Network Loop Detection, and Abnormal Limiting Traffic. Companies are able to adopt the proactive service to improve their market share and to reduce customer service costs. The results of this study are expected to contribute to the actual application of industry in that it has diagnosed the possibility of proactive service in the telecommunication service sector and further suggested suggestions on how to provide effective proactive service.

  • The signal in wireless multi-path channel is affected by fading and ISI because of high data rate transmission, so the signal has the high error rate. The present modulation and demodulation method of DSRC system can not expect sufficient for providing data service over 1 Mbps, so the channel equalization and advanced modulation and demodulation methods are required. OFDM is generally known as an effective technique for high data rate transmission system, since it can prevent ISI by inserting a guard interval. However, a guard interval longer than channel delay spread has to be used in each OFDM symbol period, thus resulting a considerable loss in the efficiency of channel utilization Therefore the equalizer is necessary to cancel ISI to accommodate advanced ITS service with higher bit rate and longer channel delay spread condition In this paper, the channel equalizer for the OFDM -DSRC system was designed and its performance in a multi-path fading environment was evaluated with computer simulation.

System Level Performance Evaluation and Throughput Enhancement Algorithm of MBS (MBS의 전송률 증대 알고리즘 및 시스템 레벨 성능평가)

  • It has been growing interests that convergence services of broadcasting and telecommunication services such as DMB 2.0 and Mobile IPTV etc. Unicast type is difficult to service broadcasting due to limits of capacity and poor receiving environments, WiBro supports broadcast service with MBS. MBS is transmission method that base stations belong to same the MBS zone transmit the all users who request broadcasting service. Terminals are received resources from all base station in the MBS zone and SINR can be improved because of macro diversity. If terminals are located at edge of the MBS zone, complement algorithm are needed beacause received SINR is very low. In this paper, MIMO STBC, Relay and FFR are introduced to improve the throughputs using high MCS. The basic simulation environment is assumed to be SISO. Transparent relay and FFR applicable on MBS are divided by SISO and MIMO STBC environment and evaluate the performance.
