  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of brand image and purchase attitude on IT new and high tech product(and service). These results of the research model provide that the relationship between brand image and purchase attitude on IT new product. This study provide that the brand image is a tool for the firm's competitive power. The firms strengthen the brand image for a successful market entry.

  • Due to the increasing demand for convenience and simplicity, Home Meal Replacement (HMR) has become a key trend in the food service industry. This study researched the current consumer trend and analyzed the national and international HMR product trend, aiming to find useful insights for the field. Results showed that in order to expand the HMR market demand, it is possible to consider diversifying the product category by making customized premium products, such as products for the elderly, infants, patients, and sports players, or products with enhanced nutritional fortification. From the industrial aspect, centralization through Central Kitchen (CK) and implementation of the scientific and advanced ISO and HACCP system are necessary. Lastly, to develop high value-added HMR products, it is deemed essential to utilize the so-called 'food tech', the technology which integrates core technologies of the fourth industrial revolution into the food industry.

  • Value co-creation is an important business strategy these days in both the business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-consumer (B2C) markets. The aim of this study was to identify specialized resources and competences for value co-creation in the relationship network within a high-tech B2B market. A case of Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company Limited (TSMC) with customers and partners was chosen as the study case. Based on the observations, contents analysis of the secondary data and unstructured interviews with former TSMC employees, 4 critical resource types (financial, knowledge, efficiency and intellectual resource) and 6 competence types (relational, collaboration, strategic, innovation, managing and service capability), were performed as the principal factors for value co-creation in the relationship network. A research framework that can analyze the value co-creation phenomena in the relationship network was established.

The Effect of Performance Feedback on Firms' Decision to Form an International Strategic Alliance and Performance in the Korean Manufacturing Industry

  • Purpose - International strategic alliance has been regarded as a strategic decision made by firms' managerial problems and ensure performance growth. From the perspective of the proactive behavior for changing strategies in a global market, this study aims to identify whether performance feedback influences firms' decisions to pursue strategic alliances. This study examines the effects of performance feedback on performance when firms use strategic alliances. Design/methodology - To analyze the impact of performance feedback on forming an international strategic alliance, this study adopt the concept of performance feedback to develop a research model and our hypotheses. Thus, this study used a two-stage least squares unbalanced panel data analysis with random effects. This study is based on 24,543 observations from Korean manufacturing firms from 2007 to 2016. Findings - The results show that firms pursue the formation of strategic alliances more actively, if their past financial and R&D performance are lower than their aspiration level, based on the result of performance feedback. An in split sample analysis for examining the effect of a firm's technology sophistication based on the OECD's classification, negative innovation performance discrepancy has positive effects on the probability of international alliance in high-tech and medium-high-tech industries. Financial performance also improves when a firm decides to form a strategic alliance based on the results of performance feedback. Originality/value - This research extends recent efforts to better understand the effect of performance feedback on firms' performance when they use strategic alliances. These findings suggest that the CEOs and managers of firms should consider the performance feedback perspective when deciding to pursue a strategic alliance to improve performance. In other words, the decision-makers in a firm must analyze and consider various complex variables inside and outside the firm and expand such subjects of examination to more complex and dynamic factors.

  • Recently solar cell industry needs the optimal design of Czochralski process for low cost high quality silicon mono crystalline ingot. Because market needs both high efficient solar cell and similar cost with multi-crystalline Si ingot. For cost reduction in Czochralski process, first of all energy reduction should be completed because Czochralski process is high energy consumption process. For this purpose we studied optimal water-cooling tube design and simultaneously we also check the quality of ingot with Von mises stress and V(pull speed of ingot)/G(temperature gradient to the crystallization) values. At this research we used $CG-Sim^{(R)}$ S/W package and finally we got improved water-cooling tube design than normally used process in present industry. The optimal water-cooling tube length should be 200mm. The result will be adopted at real industry.

  • An old castle in a tranquil setting. At first glance, no-one would suspect that this was the backdrop for the research and services centre providing expertise from all areas of the textile-clothing supply chain, textile care and other associated sectors. The Hohenstein Institutes are a modern communications centre with the latest research equipment where highly qualified scientists carry out their research and exchange knowledge. This combination of high-calibre staff and the philosophy of the unity of research, training and application have guaranteed the Hohenstein team of their position as an internationally respected institution offering high levels of expertise in all areas of the textile-clothing chain. At the beginning of the 21st century, the team of scientists at Hohenstein made the research and development of high-tech textile and garment innovations their number one priority. They recognise a rapidly developing market for "intelligent textiles" and "Smart Clothes" capable of adapting their function to the existing environmental conditions. Clients for the research projects, which are often carried out in conjunction with other institutions and industry, are research associations, federal ministries, the European Union and numerous leading companies both in Germany and abroad. The Hohenstein Institutes dispose of four international offices at the moment: in Turkey (since 1996), USA (since 1999), Lima (since 2002) and Mexico (since 2003).

On Rule-Based Inventory Planning Over New Product Launching Period (신제품 출시 시점의 규칙기반 재고계획에 관한 고찰)

  • In this paper we have tackled the outstanding inventory planning problems over new product launching period in a more holistic manner by addressing first the definition of efficient business rules to effectively control and reduce the inventory risks followed by the rigorous explanations on the implementation guide on suggested inventory planning rules. It is not unusual for many companies in the consumer electronics market to make a great effort to reduce the time to launch a new product because the ability to bring out higher performing products in such a short time period greatly increases the probability for them to remain competitive in the high tech market. Among so many newly developed products, those products with new features and technologies appeal to many potential customers while products which fail to win customers by design and prices rapidly disappear in the market. To adapt to this business environment, those companies have been trying to find the answer to minimize the inventory of old products so they can move to next generation products quickly with less obsolete material. In the experimental implementation of our rule-based inventory planning, Company 'S' reduced the inventory cost for the outgoing products as low as 49% of its peak level of its preceding product version in just 5 month after the adoption of rule-based inventory planning process and system. This paper concluded the subject with a suggestion that the best performance of rule-based inventory planning is guaranteed not from one-time campaign of process improvement along with system development but the decision maker's continuing support and attention even without seeing any upcoming business crisis.

Emerging Digital Technology as a Window of Opportunity and Technological Leapfrogging: Catch-up in Digital TV by the Korean Firms

  • This paper has examined the leapfrogging thesis with the case of catch-up in digital TV by the Korean firms. Despite the disadvantages implied by the technological regime of digital TV and the risks facing early entrants in trajectory choice and initial market formation, the Korean firms had achieved a 'path-creating catch-up' in the sense they chose a different path from the Japanese forerunning firms. As they have been closely watching the technological trends and the standard setting process, there was less risk of choosing the right or wrong technological trajectory. Also, despite the lack of sufficient capability and core knowledge base, the Korean firms had some complementary asset, such as the experience of producing analogue TV, and were able to develop the prototype digital TV and the ASIC chips, given the accesses to the foreign knowledge via overseas R&D posts and acquisition of a foreign company. To secure the initial market size, the Korean targeted the US market from the beginning, and their sources for competitive advantages were the speedy setting up the production system for mass production of products at the initial stage. The initial failure of the Japanese firms and the success of the Korean firms do suggest that the period of paradigm shift, like this toward digital technology, can serve as a window of opportunity for late-comers while penalizing the forerunner.

  • Plastic injection products have been widely used in various electronic appliances and high-tech commodities. However, plastic injection product manufacturers have to spare no efforts to shorten new product development period to introduce new products into the market ahead of other competitors, gaining competitiveness and satisfying customers. The manufacturers cannot only get big target market share rapidly but also the advantage of leading the product price in order to survive in highly competitive market. This paper proposes the cost estimation approach of feature-based plastic injection products by using hybrid artificial neural network and genetic algorithm. The proposed method is to dramatically simplify and shorten the complex conventional cost estimation procedures and the requested computation parameters of plastic injection products. The case study demonstrates the efficiency and effectiveness of the proposed model in solving the cost estimation problem of plastic injection products at the development stage.

  • Gu-mi hydrogen fluoride leak accident in 2012 was amplified social anxiety for chemical accidents. To relieve these anxieties Off-site Risk Assessment was introduced in 2015. Off-site Risk Assessment is targeted at most chemicals, and most of the high-pressure-toxic gases which are mainly used in high-tech industries such as semi conductor, display, Photovoltaic panels industry are included in the substance of the Off-site Risk Assessment. Since Korean companies occupy a high market share in high-tech industries, high pressure-toxic domestic gas consumption is constantly increasing. Accordingly, it is expected to increase the possibility of accidents. In accordance with the circumstances, this study was to conducted Consequence Analysis(CA) about high pressure-toxic gases those are high demand in domestic. CA was used for ALOHA developed by US EPA & US NOAA and the CA result of Arsine was the largest at 4,700 m. CA results are expected to be utilized for determining the effective Safety distances when high pressure-toxic gas leak.
