Design and Implementation of a PCI-based Parallel Fuzzy Inference System (PCI 기반 병렬 퍼지추론 시스템과 설계 및 구현)

  • In this paper, we propose a novel PCI bus based parallel fuzzy inference system for transferring and inferencing the large volumes of fuzzy data in high speed. For this, the PCI 9050 interface chip is used to connect a local bus design as a PCI target core using FPGA to the PCI bus. We design and implement the PCI target core by using VHDL to be processed in parallel by considering the points of parallelyzing each element of the membership functions and each block of the condition and/or consequent parts. The proposed system can be used in a system requiring a rapid inference time in a real-time system or pattern recognition on the large volume of satellite images that have many inference variables in the condition and consequent parts.

  • Generally, PI control is simple and easy to implement and gains of PI control are determined by specifying a dynamics of the servo driver system. However, the gain-tuning is so difficult that it is relied on an expert's effort. This paper presents a gain auto-tuning method for PI controllers based on a fuzzy inference mechanism. First, the proposed fuzzy inference system identifies a system moment of inertia and adjusts control gains by using the difference in speed responses between a real plant and a reference model. Second, this paper proposes an improved fuzzy PI controller. To reduce the speed overshoot, we adapt a control method that selects a proper PI gains with respect to the load inertia variation. To prove the validity of the proposed gain tuning algorithm and the feasibility of the servo drive, a high performance servo drive will be implemented by DSP(TMS320C31) and intelligent power module (IPM). The proposed controller is applied to the speed control of the 300W AC servo motor. Some simulations and experimental results show that the proposed fuzzy PI controller is more robust than the conventional PI controller against the load inertia variation.

  • Recently the fuzzy control is widely used as a tool for constructing automatic control systems which can replace the manual operation of large-scale nonlinear plants. In most applications of the fuzzy control however it is hard to meet the requirement of the operation time. In some real-time control the fuzzy control scheme requires too much computing time for fuzzification inference and defuzzification. To reduce the computing time there may be two alternatives the development of a new operation algorithm and the design of high-speed fuzzy hardware. In this paper to solve the problem of reducing the fuzzy operation time we propose a new high-speed fuzzy hardware scheme which has merits of its generality and extensibility. Finally we verify the proposed fuzzy hardware.

  • In this paper, we proposed effective modeling method to nonlinear complex system. Fuzzy Neural Network(FNN) was used as basic model. FNN was fused of Fuzzy Inference which has linguistic property and Neural Network which has learning ability and high tolerence level. This paper, we used FNN which was proposed by Yamakawa. The FNN used Simple Inference as fuzzy inference method and Error Back Propagation Algorithm as learning rule. This structure has better property than other structure at learning speed and convergence ability. But it has difficulty at definition of membership function. We used Hard c-Mean method to overcome this difficulty. To evaluate proposed method. We applied the proposed method to waste water treatment process. We obtained better performance than conventional model.

  • As the conventional silicon metal-oxide-semiconductor field-effect transistor (MOSFET) approaches its scaling limits, quantum mechanical effects are expected to become more and more important. Accurate quantum transport simulators are required to explore the essential device physics as a design aid. However, because of the complexity of the analysis, it has been necessary to simulate the quantum mechanical model with high speed and accuracy. In this paper, the modeling of double gate MOSFET based on an adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) is presented. The ANFIS model reduces the computational time while keeping the accuracy of physics-based models, like non-equilibrium Green's function formalism. Finally, we import the ANFIS model into the circuit simulator software as a subcircuit. The results show that the compact model based on ANFIS is an efficient tool for the simulation of nanoscale circuits.

High-speed Integer Fuzzy Operations Without Multiplications and Divisions (곱셈, 나눗셈이 필요 없는 고속 정수 퍼지 연산)

  • In a fuzzy control system to vocess fuzzy data in high-speed for intelligent systems, one of the important problems is the improvement of the execution speed in the fuzzy inference and defuzzification stages. Especially, it is more important to have high-speed operations in the consequent Pan and defuzzification stage. Therefore, in this paper, to improve the speedup of the fuzzy controllers for intelligent systems, we propose novel integer fuzzy operation method without mulitplications and divisions by only integer addition to convert real values in the fuzzy membership functions in the consequent part to integer grid pixels $(400{\times}30)$ without [0, 1] real operations. Also we apply the proposed system to the truck backer-upper control system. As a result, this system shows a real-time very high speed fuzzy control as compared as the conventional methods. This system will be applied to the real-time high-speed intelligent systems such as robot arm control.

  • This paper describes the design of fuzzy digital PID controller using simplified indirect inference method. First, the fuzzy digital PID controller is derived from the conventional continuous time linear digital PID controller. Then the fuzzification, control-rule base, and defuzzification using SIM in the design of the fuzzy digital controller are discussed in detail. The resulting controller is a discrete time fuzzy version of the conventional digital PID controller, which has the same linear structure, but are nonlinear functions of the input signals. The proposed controller enhances the self-tuning control capability, particularly when the process to be controlled is nonlinear. When the SIM is applied, the fuzzy inference results can be calculated with splitting fuzzy variables into each action component and are determined as the functional form of corresponding variables. So the proposed method has the capability of the high speed inference and adapting with increasing the number of the fuzzy input variables easily. Computer simulation results have demonstrated the superior to the control performance of the one proposed by D. Misir et al.

  • In this paper, a current mode two-input maximum (Max) and minimum (Min) operations scheme, which is a useful building block for analog fuzzy inference systems, is presented. The Max and Min operations are incorporated in the same scheme with parallel processing. The proposed scheme comprises a MOS class AB/B configuration and current mirrors. Its simple structure can provide a high efficiency. The performance of the scheme exhibits a very sharp transfer characteristic and high accuracy. The proposed scheme achieves a high-speed operation and is suitable for real-time systems. The simulation results verifying the performances of the scheme are agreed with the expected values.

  • This paper resents a control approach for designing a fuzzy-PI controller for a synchronous generator excitation and SVC system A combination of thyristor-controlled reactors and fixed capacitors (TCR-FC) type SVC is recognized as having the must fiexible control and high speed response, which has been widely utilized in power systems, is considered and designed to improve the response of a synchronous generator, as well as controlling the system voltage A Fuzzy-PI controller for SVC system was proposed in this paper. The PI gain parameters of the proposed Fuzzy-PI controller which is a special type of PI ones are self-tuned by fuzzy inference technique. It is natural that the fuzzy inference technique should be barred on humans intuitions and empirical knowledge. Nonetheless, the conventional ones were not so. Therefore, In this paper, the fuzzy inference technique of PI gains using MMGM(Min Max Gravity Method) which is very similar to humans inference procedures, was presented and allied to the SVC system. The system dynamic responses are examined after applying all small disturbance condition.
