As the frequency of drought increases due to climate change, it is very important to have a monitoring system that can accurately determine the situation of widespread drought. However, while ground-based meteorological data has limitations in identifying all the complex droughts in Korea, satellite remote sensing data can be effectively used to identify the spatial characteristics of drought in a wide range of regions and to detect drought. This study attempted to analyze the possibility of using remote sensing data for drought identification in South Korea. In order to monitor various aspects of drought, remote sensing and ground observation data of precipitation and potential evapotranspiration, which are major variables affecting drought, were collected. The evaluation of the applicability of remote sensing data was conducted focusing on the comparison with the observation data. First, to evaluate the applicability and accuracy of remote sensing data, the correlations with observation data were analyzed, and drought indices of various aspects were calculated using precipitation and potential evapotranspiration for meteorological drought monitoring. Then, to evaluate the drought monitoring ability of remote sensing data, the drought reproducibility of the past was confirmed using the drought index. Finally, a high-resolution drought map using remote sensing data was prepared to evaluate the possibility of using remote sensing data for actual drought in South Korea. Through the application of remote sensing data, it was judged that it would be possible to identify and understand various drought conditions occurring in all regions of South Korea, including unmeasured watersheds in the future.
This study was conducted to identify the factors affecting the quality of life of the elderly according to economic activity. The subjects of this study were 5,991 elderly aged 65 years or older among subjects of the 7th National Health and Nutrition Survey. The variables of this study consisted of demographic characteristics, physical and psychological factors, data analysis was performed using the complex sample analysis of the IBM SPSS 25.0 program. As a result of this study, the factors that influenced the quality of life of the elderly in economic activity were gender, age, outpatient use frequency, arthritis, activity restrictions, subjective health, and stress, and their explanatory power was 34.2% (p<.001). The factors that influenced the quality of life of the elderly without economic activity were sex, age, number of hospitalizations, high blood pressure, arthritis, hearing impairment, masticatory discomfort, activity restriction, subjective health and stress, and their explanatory power was 35.5% (p<.001). The results of this study can provide basic data on the factors affecting the quality of life according to economic activities in the intervention of the elderly's quality of life. Intervention is required to improve the quality of life for the elderly according to economic activity.

Climate change caused by global warming increases the frequency of occurrence of super typhoons and causes various types of sediment disasters such as debris flows in the mountainous area. This study is to evaluate the behavior of debris flow according to the multiplier value of the precipitation characteristics and the quantity of debris flow according to the typhoon category. For the analysis of the debris flow, the finite difference method for time elapse was applied. The larger the typhoon category, the higher the peak value of the flow discharge of debris flow and the faster the arrival time. When the precipitation characteristic multiplier is large, the fluctuation amplitude is high and the bandwidth is wide. When the slope angle was steeper, water discharge increased by 2~2.5 times or more, and the fluctuation of the flow discharge of debris flow increased. All of the velocities of debris flow were included to the class of "Very rapid", and the distribution of the erosion or sedimentation velocity of debris flows showed that the magnitude of erosion increased from the beginning, large-scale erosion occurred, and flowed downstream. The results of this study will provide information for predicting debris flow disasters, structural countermeasures and establishing countermeasures for reinforcing resilience in vulnerable areas.
The study aims to explore the factors that affect the value perception, satisfaction, and frequency of smart phone taxi applications in Shanghai, China, and commuters. According to a survey conducted on the actual use of taxi application, the majority of the customers responded that they have been using taxi apps for more than one or two years, and the results showed that they use taxi apps once or twice a week. It also showed that the actual use of taxi apps varies depending on their age and academic background. Among the value attributes of smart phone taxi applications, the respondents perceived ease of use as the highest at 4.41 points out of 5 point scale, while the risk perception was the lowest at 3.34 points. Finally, when social demographic characteristics and the nature of taxi app use were controlled, the value perception variables had a significant influence on taxi application satisfaction. The higher the perception of service quality, usefulness, and system usability, the higher the satisfaction levels were. In particular, the impact of perceived usefulness and system usability perception was high.
Precise investigation and interpretation of the ground subsidence risk factors needed to predict and evaluate the settlement problems of the surrounding ground due to the ground excavation. There are various geophysical exploration methods to investigate the ground subsidence risk factors. However, there are factors that influence the characteristics of the underground medium in these geophysical methods, and the actual soil contains complex factors affecting geophysical exploration. Therefore, it is necessary to analyze the effects on the geophysical methods based on the understanding of the geotechnical properties of soil. In this study, a test bed was constructed to consider various complicated factors in the complex ground and the ground behavior was analyzed by numerical analysis. In addition, we analyzed the limitations on investigating the ground subsidence risk factors through ground penetration radar (GPR) survey. As a result, ground subsidence of Open-cut Type Excavation is caused by various factors. Especially, in the case of soft ground condition, it was found that it was greatly influenced by the flow change of groundwater level. At the center frequency of GPR of 250 MHz, the attenuation of the electromagnetic wave is severely attenuated in the clay with high electrical conductivity, making it difficult to penetrate deeply into the ground (4 m below the surface). As the electromagnetic waves pass through the groundwater level below the groundwater, the attenuation of the electromagnetic waves becomes severe.

This study was aimed to reveal that the usual cold or heat state was associated with hypertension and could be a risk. We emailed educational personnel in D university to join this study and 182 subjects participated in from March to December in 2016. The usual cold or heat diagnosis was conducted by two experts who had over 10 years expertise. The blood pressure was measured from the subjected after 10 minute rest with Jawon medical device. The hypertension was diagnosed by the guide of the Seventh Report of the Joint National Committee on Prevention, Detection, Evaluation, and Treatment of High Blood Pressure. The frequency analysis was used in general characteristics, Pearson's Correlation Coefficient analysis was conducted in among continuous variables, and chi-square test was also used between hypertension and cold or heat group. Logistic regression was analyzed to generate the odds ratios (ORs) and 95% confidence interval (CI) for hypertension. The cold score was suggested to have negative association with Body mass Index (BMI, -.374, p<.001), systolic blood pressure (-.333, p<.001), and diastolic pressure (-.261, p<.001). The heat score was analyzed to have positive association with Body mass Index (.413, p<.001), systolic blood pressure (.249, p<.001), and diastolic pressure (.156, p<.001). The distribution of the cold group (35.1%) and non-cold group (64.9%) in hypertension was significantly different (p=0.18). The distribution of the heat group (62.2%) and non-heat group (37.8%) was significantly different (p=0.27). The usual cold was associated with decreased ORs (ORs 0.405, 95% CI=0.191-0.857), and usual heat was associated with increased ORs (ORs 2.327, 95% CI=1.108-4.888). However, after adjusting body mass index, sex, and smoking, the association was not significantly different. It is possible that usual cold or heat associate with hypertension. Further study is needed to show that usual heat may be a independent risk factor for hypertension through follow up design.

The frequency of natural disasters and the scale of damage are increasing due to the abnormal weather phenomenon occurring all over the world. As a result, as the hydrological aspect of the urban watershed changes, the increase in impervious area leads to serious domestic flood damage due to increased rainfall. In order to minimize the damage of life and property, domestic flooding prediction system is needed. In this study, we developed a flood nomogram capable of predicting flooding only by rainfall intensity and duration. This study suggests a method to set the internal water immersion alarm criterion by analyzing the characteristics of the flooding damage in the flooded area in the metropolitan area where flooding is highly possible and the risk of flooding is high. In addition, based on the manhole and the pipe, the water level was set as follows under the four conditions. 1) When manhole overflows, 2) when manhole is full, 3) when 70% of the pipe is reached, and 4) when 60% of the pipe is reached. Therefore, it can be used as a criterion and a predictive measure to cope with the pre-preparation before the flooding starts, through the rainfall that causes the flooding and the flooding damage.

This study was a descriptive study to investigate the factors influencing on self-esteem, ego resilience, impulsivity and life stress on smartphone addiction among college students. The subjects include college students in some areas. Data was collected in November and December, 2018. Total 231 college students were analyzed in the study. Collected data was analyzed in frequency, percentage, and t-test to examine differences in smartphone addiction according to general characteristics. Pearson's correlation was performed to examine correlations between smartphone addiction and main variables, and the factors influencing smartphone addiction were analyzed in multiple regression. The findings show that genera, satisfaction with college life, hours of using a smartphone, hours of using SNS, ego resilience, impulsivity, and life stress had significant effects on smartphone addiction. The study examined relations between general characters and smartphone addiction and found that the level of smartphone addiction was high in female college students, those who were not satisfied with college life, and used a smartphone and SNS for many hours. Ego resilience had negative correlations with smartphone addiction, and impulsivity and life stress had positive correlations with it. Multi-variate regression analysis results show that gender, ego resilience, and life stress were factors that had important influences on the smartphone addiction of college students, having explanatory power of 35.6%. In short, colleges and universities need to develop a school-level program to improve the college life of students and reduce their stress to the minimum and create an environment of encouraging them to grow power of controlling their lives so that they can prevent smartphone addiction.
This study was carried out to investigate the occurrence of seedlings of Korean fir (Abies koreana) in Korean fir forest located on the eastern slope of Mt. Halla National Park. Between June and August in 2016, the systematic sampling method was applied to 125 plots of 5 m × 5 m quadrats and field survey was came out to measure the characteristics of sites and understory vegetation. Correlation analysis was applied to the variables quantified from the data collected. Total number of flora found at the study site is 31 in families, 44 in genera, and 56 in species. The main lower layer vegetation was investigated such as Jeju dwarf bamboo, Toothed club moss (Lycopodium serratum), Pacific fir moss (Lycopodium chinense), Climbing hydrangea (Hydrangea petiolaris) etc. Among these plant species, the vegetation which had a high positive correlation with the frequency and the coverage of seedlings of Korean fir were Jeju dwarf bamboo, Toothed club moss and Pacific fir moss.

This study was carried out to investigate temporal and spatial distribution of macrobenthic community and elucidate effects of environmental factors on change of community structure in an intertidal flat, Hakseong-ri, Boryeong, Korea. Field surveys were seasonally conducted to collect samples of sediment and macrobenthos using can core in triplicate at nine stations in 2016 and 2017. Our results showed that sediment had high mud content (above 60%) in most samples and mean content of loss on ignition was 2.3% in 2016. A total of 79 species was collected in the study site during the study period. Mean density and biomass were 611 ind./m2 and 64.1 gWWt/m2, respectively. Heteromastus filiformis was the dominant species (48.6%, 297 ind./m2) followed by Macrophthalmus japonicus (10.1%, 62 ind./m2) and Upogebia major (6.9%, 42 ind./m2). Three assembly groups resulted from cluster analysis were more distinguished by interaction between organisms and frequency of dominant species than by physical and chemical environment characteristics. In addition, macrobenthic community in the Hakseong intertidal flat showed seasonal changes based on non metric multidimensional scaling using species abundance.
