Sealing of lubricant-air mixture in the high performance machining center is one of most the important characteristics to carry out enhanced lubrication. High speed spindle requires non-contact type of sealing mechanism. Evaluating an optimum seal design to minimize leakage is concerned in the aspect of flow control. Effect of geometry and leakage path are evaluated according to variation of sealing geometry. Velocity, pressure, turbulence intensity of profile is calculated to find more efficient geometry and variables. This offers a methodological way of enhancement seal design for high speed spindle. The working fluid is regarded as two phases that are mixed flow of oil phase and air phase. It is more reasonable to simulate an oil jet or oil mist type high speed spindle lubrication. Turbulence and compressible flow model are used to evaluate a flow characteristic. This paper considers a design effect of sealing capability of non- contact type seals for high speed spindle and analyzes leakage characteristics to minimize a leakage 7 on the same sealing area.
The Purpose of this study was to compare the school life of Korean high school students between Public and proprietary schools, especially focused on their internal experiences and flow. Internal experiences were composed of three dimensions: emotion, cognitive efficiency, and satisfaction. How was classified into four conditions: apathy, boredom, anxiety, and flow. The study results are: 1. Korean high school students felt more flow when they were in public school than in proprietary school,. In public school, they felt relatively more bored, and on the other hand, they were relatively more anxious in proprietary school. 2. Korean high school students felt more positive emotions when they were in public school than in proprietary school. 3. Korean high school students were more involved into study when they were in public school than in proprietary school. 4. Korean high school students were more satisfied when they were in public school than in proprietary school.
A mechanistic model based on wall-attached bubble coalescence, previously developed by the authors, was extended to predict a vow high critical heat flux (CHF)in highly subcooled flow boiling, especially for high mass flux and small tube diameter conditions. In order to take into account the enhanced condensation due to high subcooling and high mass velocity in small diameter tubes, a mechanistic approach was adopted to evaluate the non-equilibrium flow quality and void fraction in the subcooled water flow boiling, with preserving the structure of the previous CHF model. Comparison of the model predictions against highly subcooled water CHF data showed relatively good agreement over a wide range of parameters. The significance of the proposed CHF model lies in its generality in applying over the entire subcooled flow boiling regime including the operating conditions of fission and fusion reactors.
Network management and anomaly detection are challenges in high-speed networks due to the high volume of packets that has to be analysed. Flow-based analysis is a scalable method which reduces the high volume of network traffic by dividing it into flows. As sampling methods are extensively used in flow generators such as NetFlow, the impact of sampling on the performance of flow-based analysis needs to be investigated. Monitoring using sampled traffic is a well-studied research area, however, the impact of sampling on flow-based anomaly detection is a poorly researched area. This paper investigates flow sampling methods and shows that these methods have negative impact on flow-based anomaly detection. Therefore, we propose an efficient probabilistic flow sampling method that can preserve flow traffic distribution. The proposed sampling method takes into account two flow features: Destination IP address and octet. The destination IP addresses are sampled based on the number of received bytes. Our method provides efficient sampled traffic which has the required traffic features for both flow-based anomaly detection and monitoring. The proposed sampling method is evaluated using a number of generated flow-based datasets. The results show improvement in preserved malicious flows.

For decades, researchers have rigorously studied the characteristics of flow traveling around blunt objects in order to gain greater understanding of the flow around aircraft, vehicles or vessels. Many different types of flow exist, such as boundary layer flow, flow separation, laminar and turbulent flow, vortex and vortex shedding; such types are especially observed around circular cylinders. Vortex shedding around a circular cylinder exhibits a two-dimensional flow structure possessing a Reynolds number within the range of 47 and 180. As the Reynolds number increases, the Karman vortex changes into a three-dimensional flow structure. In this paper, a numerical analysis was performed examining the flow and aero-acoustic field characteristics around a circular cylinder using an optimized high-order compact scheme, which is a high order scheme. The analysis was conducted with a Reynolds number ranging between 300 and 1,000, which belongs to B-mode flow around a circular cylinder. For a B-mode Reynolds number, a proper spanwise length is analyzed in order to obtain the characteristics of three-dimensional flow. The numerical results of the Strouhal number as well as the lift and drag coefficients according to Reynolds numbers are coincident with the other experimental results. Basic research has been conducted studying the effects an unstable three-dimensional wake flow on an aero-acoustic field.
Experimental data are presented which describe the effects of a combustor-level high free-stream turbulence on the near-wall flow structure and heat/mass transfer on the endwall of a linear high-turning turbine rotor cascade. The end wall flow structure is visualized by employing the partial- and total-coverage oil-film technique, and heat/mass transfer rate is measured by the naphthalene sublimation method. A turbulence generator is designed to provide a highly-turbulent flow which has free-stream turbulence intensity and integral length scale of 14.7% and 80mm, respectively, at the cascade entrance. The surface flow visualizations show that the high free-stream turbulence has little effect on the attachment line, but alters the separation line noticeably. Under high free-stream turbulence, the incoming near-wall flow upstream of the adjacent separation lines collides more obliquely with the suction surface. A weaker lift-up force arising from this more oblique collision results in the narrower suction-side corner vortex area in the high turbulence case. The high free-stream turbulence enhances the heat/mass transfer in the central area of the turbine passage, but only a slight augmentation is found in the end wall regions adjacent to the leading and trailing edges. Therefore, the high free-stream turbulence makes the end wall heat load more uniform. It is also observed that the heat/mass transfers along the locus of the pressure-side leg of the leading-edge horseshoe vortex and along the suction-side corner are influenced most strongly by the high free-stream turbulence. In this study, the end wall surface is classified into seven different regions based on the local heat/mass transfer distribution, and the effects of the high free-stream turbulence on the local heat/mass transfer in each region are discussed in detail.
The hydrogen behavior in a nuclear containment vessel is a significant issue when discussing the potential of hydrogen combustion during a severe accident. After the Fukushima-Daiichi accident in Japan, we have investigated in-depth the hydrogen transport mechanisms by utilizing experimental and numerical approaches. Computational fluid dynamics is a powerful tool for better understanding the transport behavior of gas mixtures, including hydrogen. This paper describes a Large-eddy simulation of gas mixing driven by a high-buoyancy flow. We focused on the interaction behavior of heat and mass transfers driven by the horizontal high-buoyant flow during density stratification. For validation, the experimental data of the Containment InteGral effects Measurement Apparatus (CIGMA) facility were used. With a high-power heater for the gas-injection line in the CIGMA facility, a high-temperature flow of approximately 390 ℃ was injected into the test vessel. By using the CIGMA facility, we can extend the experimental data to the high-temperature region. The phenomenological discussion in this paper helps understand the heat and mass transfer induced by the high-buoyancy flow in the containment vessel during a severe accident.
Mixed convective vortex flow in the three-dimensional rectangular channel filled with high viscous fluid(Pr=909) is investigated computationally under various operating conditions. The Reynolds number is varied from 0 to $5{\times}10^{-1}$, the Rayleigh number from $10^3$ to $5{\times}10^4$. The three-dimensional governing equations are discretized using the finite volume method. The effects of Reynolds number and Rayleigh number are presented and discussed. From a parametric study, it is found that vortex flow pattern of mixed convection in rectangular channels can be classified into three flow patterns basically, but the new vortex flow structures containing wave rolls are found, which are affected by Rayleigh number and Reynolds number. From this results, we can draw a flow regime map to delineate various vortex flow patterns in the high viscosity fluid mixed convective flow.
Oscillartory thermocapillary flow of high Prandtl number fluids in the half-zone configuration is investigated. Based on experimental observations, one oscillation cycle consists of an active period where the surface flow is strong and the hot corner region is extended and a slow period where the opposite occurs. It is found that during oscillations the deformation of free surface plays an important role and a surface deformation parameter S correlates the experimental data well on the onset of oscillations. A scaling analysis is performed to analyze the basic steady flow in the parametric ranges of previous ground-based experiments and shows that the flow is viscous dominant and is mainly driven in the hot corner. The predicted scaling laws agree well with the numerical results. It is postulated that the oscillations are caused by a time lag between the surface and return flows. A deformation parameter S represents the response time of the return flow to the surface flow.
The governing equations for high-speed lateral atomizing injector nozzle flow based on the LES-VOF model in conjunction with the CSF model are presented, and then an integrated parallel computation are performed to clarify the detailed atomization process of a high speed nozzle flow and to acquire data which is difficult to confirm by experiment such as atomization length, liquid core shapes, droplets size distributions, spray angle and droplets velocity profiles. According to the present analysis, it is found that the atomization rate and the droplets-gas two-phase flow characteristics are controlled by the turbulence perturbation upstream of the injector nozzle, hydrodynamic instabilities at the gas-liquid interface, shear stresses between liquid core and periphery of the jet. Furthermore, stable and a high-resolution computation can be attained in the high density ratio (pl/ pg = 554) conditions conditions by using our numerical method.
