  • A multilayer piezoelectric transformer (MPT) which generates a high voltage dc power with low driving voltage and high voltage setup ratio was made by the tape casting method. The measured electrical characteristics of the MPT agreed with the results simulated from the equivalent circuit of the MPT. With increasing the number of layer in the MPT, the resonance curve of the input cur-rent revealed an asymmetry due to the increasing input capacitance, while that of output dc voltages revealed symmetry. The MPT which has very thin layer was excellently characterized as low driving voltage and high voltage setup ratio. The output dc voltage is nonlinearly influenced by the number of layer in the MPT.

  • A extension of the high boost voltage-lift DC-DC converter with large conversion ratio has been proposed in this paper. The proposed extension is combined the switched-inductor cell (SL-cell) and modular voltage cell (MV-cell). The proposed structure can achieve the large voltage conversion without high duty-cycle and the low voltage of the components. Moreover, the PID controller for novel SL-MV voltage-lift DC-DC converter also introduces. This technique a good-performance output voltage can kept constant with an good transient performance when the output load is suddenly changed. In order to prove the theoretical analysis, the experimental setup has been built for the DC load of $150[{\Omega}]$ and $300[{\Omega}]$. In addition, the transient of output voltage has been tested to determine the controller. Experimental results validate the effectiveness of the theoretical analysis proving the satisfactory converter performance.

  • Driving Waveform of AC PDP in reset periode is increased and decreased with constant slope to improve dark room contrast ratio and image quality. But the slope and magnitude of ramp waveform are related to strong and weak discharge with temperature change in AC PDP. So this paper proposes a methods of changing the slope and magnitude of ramp waveform during reset periode according to temperature change in AC PDP. Experimental variable factors ire chosen to setup slope, setdown slope, and -Vy voltage magnitude in Y sustain electrode. The proposed methods are expected to compensate for effect of the temperature change, causing misfiring in high and low temprature, with varing the slope and magnitude of ramp voltage during reset period and improve image quality.

  • The modular multilevel converter (MMC) has become a promising topology for high-voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission systems. To control a MMC system properly, the ac-side current, circulating current and submodule (SM) capacitor voltage are taken into consideration. This paper proposes a low-computation indirect model predictive control (IMPC) strategy that takes advantages of the conventional MPC and has no weighting factors. The cost function and duty cycle are introduced to minimize the tracking error of the ac-side current and to eliminate the circulating current. An optimized merge sort (OMS) algorithm is applied to keep the SM capacitor voltages balanced. The proposed IMPC strategy effectively reduces the controller complexity and computational burden. In this paper, a discrete-time mathematical model of a MMC system is developed and the duty ratio of switching state is designed. In addition, a simulation of an eleven-level MMC system based on MATLAB/Simulink and a five-level experimental setup are built to evaluate the feasibility and performance of the proposed low-computation IMPC strategy.

  • Experiments were carried out on agglomeration of bipolarly charged particles in an alternating current electric field. Laboratory-scale setup was built and experiments were conducted at atmospheric condition. DOS(Di-octyl Sebacate) particles with 100% purity were generated by an atomizer. The particles were branched into two, each of which passed through a wire-to-plate type charging section where a positive or a negative DC high voltage was applied and was charged positively or negatively. These bipolarly charged particles together passed through an agglomeration section where an $\pm$20kV AC power was applied between two plates. The resident time in the agglomeration section was adjusted as l sec. Particle sampling was made by a cascade impactor (MOUDI). The effect of agglomeration system on the reduction ratio of particles below l ㎛ was 42∼45%. Effect of AC frequency on the particle size distribution was found insignificant.
