  • The tensile and creep behaviors of Alloy 263, which is a wrought Ni-base superalloy used for gas turbine combustion systems, was studied. Anomalous increase of yield strength and abrupt decrease of elongation with increasing temperature were observed after tensile testing at an intermediate temperature. Elongation of the superalloy decreased as the temperature increased to and above 540$^{\circ}C$, and it reached a minimum value at 760$^{\circ}C$. It was found that creep strain was also very low at the same temperature. Inhomogeneous deformation with intensive slip bands was observed in the specimens tested at low temperature. A thermally-assisted dislocation climb process was regularly conducted at high temperature. Twinning was found to be an important mechanism of both tensile and creep deformations of the superalloy at an intermediate temperature where ductility minimum was observed.

  • Recently, several researchers made their endeavor to manufacture the photobioreactor(PBR) with characteristic shapes form vacuum and blow forming process. Hence, behaviors of the transparent polycarbonate(PC) plate in the high temperature region should be examined to obtain the desired PBR case via vacuum and blow forming processes. The aim of this paper is to investigate tensile behavior of PC plate in the high temperature. Various tensile tests were performed using high temperature tensile testing machine. The influence of tensile speed, thickness and ambient temperature on tensile behavior in the high temperature was examined. The flow stress and tensile strength augmented when the tensile speed increased. In order to obtain proper flow curves with strain rate effects for different temperature of specimen, G'sell-Jonas model was adopted. The material constants of the G'sell-Jonas model were estimated. The flow curves of the PC plate considering the tensile speed, specimen thickness and temperature were obtained.

  • Six yearling Suffolk ewes were used to study the effect of different roughage proportion diets (30%=LR, and 70%=HR) and intake levels (0.7 M and 1.3 M) on heat production and thermoregulatory responses in sheep exposed to different ambient temperatures (20 and $30^{\circ}C$). Sheep fed HR had higher heat production (HP) and time spent eating (TSE) and lower time spent standing (TSS) than those fed LR. But effect of roughage proportion on vaginal temperature (Tv) was obvious only at high intake and at $30^{\circ}C$. Sheep fed high intake had higher Tv, HP, TSS, and TSE than those fed low intake. Roughage proportion and intake level did not have an effect on respiration rate (RR), but ambient temperature did. Ambient temperature did not have an effect on HP, TSS and TSE. At $30^{\circ}C$ sheep had higher Tv and RR than those at $20^{\circ}C$. There were interactions between intake level and ambient temperature in TSS, between intake level and roughage proportion in TSE, and between roughage proportion and ambient temperature in HP. Results indicate that high roughage diet imposes a greater potential heat load on animals than low roughage diet when given at high ambient temperature, but not at low ambient temperature. And the effects is more pronounced at high intake.

  • The graphites as airtight structure seals prevent high-pressure and high-temperature gas from flowing into actuator of propulsion system and generate lubricant film during wear procedure to assist lubricant and sealing. In this study, the tribological characteristics of the graphite in high-temperature are evaluated. In order to evaluate the tribological characteristics of high density graphite(HK-6), variables which are temperature, sliding speed and contact load are set. this study suggest optimized environment conditions through the wear properties of graphite. Consequeantly, high temperature is better than at room temperature to generate lubricant film, so that friction coefficient of graphite is lower at high temperature than at room temperature.

  • This study was conducted to develop a new drying technology in order to quickly and massively dry bamboo tubes without crack and check. The bamboo tubes with the diameter of 45 mm - 68 mm had been impregnated in the solution of PEG-1000, and then were dried under room temperature and high temperature, respectively. The cracks occurred on all control specimens while no cracks were found on PEG treated specimens during drying at room temperature due to effect of PEG restraining the circumferential shrinkage of bamboo tube. But the drying period of this method was too long (200 days) compared to 10 hours of kiln drying. During fast high temperature drying, cracks occurred on all control specimens, but no cracks were found on PEG treated specimens, which could be accounted for more solidified PEG due to higher drying temperature and faster drying rate, and the tension set formed on the surface of bamboo tube in the early stage of drying owning to high drying temperature and low relative humidity. Thus, it is advised that PEG treated bamboo tube should be fast dried at high temperature in order to not only prevent crack or check in short drying period but also increase the dimensional stability of the products made of bamboo tubes.

  • Piezoelectric ultrasonic transducers for high temperature contact measurement were developed. These high temperature ultrasonic transducers (HTUT) consisted of bismuth titanate piezoceramic element whose Curie temperature is higher than $600^{\circ}C$, a backing material of the mixture of tungsten powder and inorganic binder, an inner alumina tube, a wear Plate and a housing. The operational frequencies or the HTUT were 1.04 and 2.08 MHz, respectively. Various commercially available couplants for high temperature were evaluated and compared. As a couplant for high temperature ultrasonic testing between HTUT and test specimen, gold epoxy was selected. The peak amplitude of pulse-echo signals from steel test specimen decreased with increasing temperature. The operational temperature of the HTUT reached up to $500^{\circ}C$ at which the continuous contact measurement was possible.

  • The mechanical behavior of a commercially pure titanium (CP-Ti) is investigated at high temperature Split Hopkinson Pressure Bar (SHPB) compression test with high strain-rate. Tests are performed over a temperature range from room temperature to 1000$^{\circ}C$ with interval of 200$^{\circ}C$ and a strain-rate range of 1900 ∼ 2000/sec. The true flow stress-true strain relations depending on temperature are achieved in these tests. For construction of constitutive equation from the true flow stress-true strain relation, parameters for the Johnson-Cook constitutive equation is determined. And the modified Johnson-Cook equation is used for investigation of behavior of flow stress in vicinity of recrystalization temperature. The Modified Johnson-Cook constitutive equation is more suitable in expressing the dynamic behavior of a CP-Ti at high temperature, i.e. about recrystalization temperature.

  • This paper proposes a cooling stop temperature control(CST) and a phase transformation control(PTR) which aim at obtaining the uniform temperature and quality along the longitudinal direction of the high strength steel on the run-out table(ROT) process. The problems of the temperature control are analyzed for the conventional steel and the new control concepts are derived from a time-temperature transformation(TTT) diagram. The proposed control technologies are verified from the simulation results under the temperature prediction model by the heat transfer governing equation, and the temperature estimation simulator. It is shown through the field test of the hot strip mills that the phase transformation ratio of the high strength steel is considerably improved by the proposed temperature controls.

  • Tensile tests were conducted on the GFRP reinforcement exposed to high temperature. The exposure condition for this study was below $200^{\circ}C$ for about 3 minutes. This conditioning is minor compared with that presented in experimental program conducted by other researchers. The residual tensile strength and elastic modulus of GFRP reinforcing bars at high temperature and after exposure to high temperature were compared. In results, tensile properties were decreased at high temperatures, but those after exposure to high temperature were recovered to pre-heating level almost completely. These results could be valuable for evaluating GFRP reinforced structure damaged by fire accident.

  • Polycrystalline silicon thin film transistors (poly-Si TFTs) are used in a wide variety of applications, and will figure prominently future high-resolution, high-performance flat panel display technology However, it was very difficult to fabricate high performance poly-Si TFTs at a temperature lower than 300$^{\circ}C$ for glass substrate. Conventional process on a glass substrate were limited temperature less than 600$^{\circ}C$ This paper proposes a high temperature process above 750$^{\circ}C$ using a flexible molybdenum substrate deposited hydrogenated amorphous silicon (a-Si:H) and than crystallized a rapid thermal processor (RTP) at the various temperatures from 750$^{\circ}C$ to 1050$^{\circ}C$. The high temperature annealed poly-Si film illustrated field effect mobility higher than 30 $\textrm{cm}^2$/Vs, achieved I$\sub$on//I$\sub$off/ current ratio of 10$^4$ and crystall volume fraction of 92%. In this paper, we introduce the new TFTs Process as flexible substrate very promising roll-to-roll process, and exhibit the properties of high temperature crystallized poly-Si Tn on molybdenum substrate.
