This research is a qualitative based study by using data gleaned from documentary analysis and in-depth interviews of 10 potential stakeholders were involved in the proposed high-speed train project in Thailand. Many perspectives from key informants revealed that this project would bring Thailand sustainable development in the future due to the fact that it is supposed to be an environmentally friendly mode of transportation and timesaving for passengers. Key informants who tend to have negative opinions towards the project feel apprehension due to the huge monetary investment during a time of monetary crisis. However, there was one complaint that the high-speed train is harmful to the environment surrounding the proposed area of this project. Several key informants agreed that ticket fares must be in between the cost of a bus ticket and airfare.
In this paper, the dynamic stability evaluation of special bridge for high speed railway under ground excitation is performed. The mass, damping, stiffness matrices of bridge are derived from the modal frequencies and mode shape vectors which can be obtained by commercial program. And the high speed train is modeled as multi-single d.o.f models for the sake of vehicle-bridge interaction analysis. In the vehicle-bridge interaction analysis, the vertical directional interaction is only considered. As a numerical example, the 3 span Extradosed bridge which is expected to be installed in Ho-Nam high speed railroad is considered. The analysis results show that the example bridge satisfies the criteria of dynamic stability.
Ride comfort is an important factor for the development of a high-speed train. The aerodynamic force to a high speed train inside tunnels increases the car-body vibration and makes its ride comfort worse. In this study, the aerodynamic force is estimated through a CFD analysis using ADINA, and its car-body vibration and ride comfort are calculated for the aerodynamic force which acts on the side of the train. The numerical results show that the vibration is a lateral mode of the car-body and decreases the ride comfort. On the basis of this numerical simulation, more accurate simulation is necessary for the shape of tunnel and the lateral suspension system of a high speed train.
A High-speed cutter, a kind of electric tool is studied to reduce its vibration and noise. The experimental modal analysis, the operational deflection shapes(ODS) and the time domain analysis(TDA) are used in the SMS software to analyze the vibration signals from an operating high-speed cutters under steady state operating condition. The second mode and fifth m,)do of the base plate coincide with the driving frequencies of the motor, And the vibration of the wheel cover is caused by the gap between the main wheel cover and the sub wheel cover. The structural modification for the base plate was done to reduce the vibration. The effect of modification is verified through the test.
In this paper, we design a modem SoC (System on Chip) for low power consumption and high speed wireless communications. Among various schemes of high speed communications, an MB-OFDM (Multi Band-Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) UWB (Ultra-Wide-Band) chip is designed. The MB-OFDM uses wide-band frequency to provide high speed data rate. Additionally, the system imposes no interference to other services. The 90nm CMOS (Complementary Metal-Oxide Semiconductor) technology is used for the SoC design. Especially, power management mode is implemented to reduce the power consumption.
The speed at which the SRM (Switched Reluctance Motor) makes a transition from chopping control to single pulse operation. (i.e., low speed to high speed operation). It is unsatisfied with performance at all operational regimes. In this paper, the operational performance of SRM can be improved by using current hysteresis control method. This method maintains a generally flat current waveform. At the high speed, the current chopping capability is lost due to the development of the back-EMF. Therefore SRM operates in single pulse mode. By using zero-current switching and zero-voltage switching technique, the stress of power switches can be reduce in chopping mode. When the commutation from one phase winding to another phase winding, the current can be zero as fast as possible in this period because several times negative voltage of DC-source voltage produce in phase winding. This paper is compared to performance based on energy efficient C-dump converter topology and the proposed resonant C-dump converter topology. Simulation and experimental results are presented to verify the effectiveness of the proposed circuit.

The acceptance test of KTX has been performed in Korea. During the test lateral vibration of carbody over the accepted value called sway was found. Many activities have been taken to find the cause of the vibration and the counter-measure. KTX has 20 car trainset formation whose trailer cars are linked by articulate bogies. So this study is performed to see the effects of long trainset formation on vehicle dynamics and the train stability by 16 car vehicle model. Firstly the reliable vehicle model which shows well the tendencies appeared in the tests on the high speed test line is required to find the cause of lateral vibration and the countermeasure. Vehicle model was made for the analysis with VAMPIRE. The analysis results show that secondary air spring lateral stiffness is the most significant parameter to cause carbody lateral vibration. Mode analysis results show that the least damped mode shape is similar to the vibration pattern shown in the tests that the amplitude of the motion increases along the train set and decreases in the tail part. The lateral vibration was appeared at the speed range between 100km/h and 200km/h and disappeared at the low speed and the high speed.

This paper presents the non-destructive evaluation of a high-speed railway bridge using train-induced strain responses. Based on the train-track-bridge interaction analysis, the strain responses of a high-speed railway bridge under moving trains with different operation status could be calculated. The train induced strain responses could be divided into two parts: the force vibration stage and the free vibration stage. The strain-displacement relationship is analysed and used for deriving critical displacements from theoretical stain measurements at a forced vibration stage. The derived displacements would be suitable for the condition assessment of the bridge through design specifications defined indexes and would show certain limits to the practical application. Thus, the damage identification of high-speed railways, such as the stiffness degradation location, needs to be done by comparing the measured strain response under moving trains in different states because the vehicle types of high-speed railway are relatively clear and definite. The monitored strain responses at the free vibration stage, after trains pass through the bridge, would be used for identifying the strain modes. The relationship between and the degradation degree and the strain mode shapes shows certain rules for the widely used simply supported beam bridges. The numerical simulation proves simple and effective for the proposed method to locate and quantify the stiffness degradation.
