강소성압연법으로 제조된 초미세립 마그네슘 재료의 마이크로 성형능 (Micro-forming Ability of Ultrafine-Grained Magnesium Alloy Prepared by High-ratio Differential Speed Rolling)

  • An ultrafine grained Mg-9Al-1Zn magnesium alloy with the mean grain size less than $1{\mu}m$ was produced by using high-ratio differential speed rolling. The processed alloy exhibited excellent superplasticity at relatively low temperatures. The micro-forming tests were carried out using a micro-forging apparatus with micro V-grooved shaped dies made of silicon and the micro-formability was evaluated by means of micro-formability index, $R_f$ ($=A_f/A_g$, $A_f$: formed and inflowed area into the V-groove, $A_g$: area of the V-groove). The $R_f$ value increased with temperature up to $280^{\circ}C$ and then decreased beyond $300^{\circ}C$. The decrease of the $R_f$ value at $300^{\circ}C$ was attributed to the accelerated grain coarsening. Increasing the micro-forging pressure increased the $R_f$ values. At a given die geometry, die filling ability decreased as the die position moved away from the die center to the end. FEM simulation predicted this behavior and a method of improving this problem was proposed.

  • Contact fatigue damages on the rail surface, such as head checks and squats are a growing problem. The fatigue cracks forming on the contact surface grow according to load and lubricating conditions and may end up breaking the rail. Rail fracture can be avoided by preventing the cracks from reaching the critical length. Therefore, the crack growth rate needs to be estimated precisely according to the conditions of the track and load to develop a maintenance plan against rail damages. Therefore, it is important to understand the mechanism of cracks initiation and growth on a rail due to repetitive rolling contact. In this study, we have investigated the crack growth behavior on the rail surface by using the twin-disc tests and the finite element analysis.

  • In this paper, noise source localization of the Korean high speed train was conducted by using delay and sum beam-forming method of a microphone array. At first, the microphone array having irregular configuration was designed and the resolution of which was analyzed from parameters such as 3-dB bandwidth and maximum side-lobe level. After the demonstration, the microphone array was applied on the high speed train and noise localization of the high speed train driving at 300 km/h was performed successfully.

중공축 모터를 이용한 회전아크에 관한 연구 (A Study on Rotating Arc Using Hollow Shaft Motor)

  • High speed rotating arc process, forming a flat bead surface with shallow penetration depth, can be applied to the automatic seam tracking, because the amplitude of current waveform increases at high rotation speed. Two high speed arc rotation mechanisms have been developed in Japan and Germany b rotating the electrode nozzle using an external motor, which are used prevalently for narrow gap and conventional seam welding. In this study, a new rotation mechanism was developed by using a hallow shaft motor designed to be installed in the electrode nozzle. By rotating the welding arc, the amplitude of current waveform increases remarkably since the self-regulation of arc is not fully performed. Experiments show that the arc sensor with high-speed rotation arc has improved its responsiveness and sensitivity.

가변금형을 이용한 스트레치 성형장치 개발 (Development of Stretch Forming Apparatus using Flexible Die)

  • A stretch forming method has been widely used in sheet metal forming process. Especially, this process has been adopted in aircraft and high-speed train industries for skin structure forming having a variety of curvature. Until now, solid dies, which are designed with respect to the specific shapes and manufactured as a single piece, have been usually applied to stretch forming process. Therefore, a great number of solid dies has to be developed according to the shapes of the curved skin structure. Accordingly, a flexible die is proposed in this study. It replaces the conventional solid dies with a set of height adjustable punch array. A usefulness of the flexible die is verified through a formability comparison with the solid die using finite element method considering an elastic recovery and the stretch forming apparatus with the flexible die is developed.

  • This study consists of two parts. The first discusses the development of a single production forming machine which was reported in earlier papers. The second outlines the development of a multi-production forming machine, which consists primarily of a film feeding unit, an unwinding unit, and a heating block unit. The heating block unit of the multi-production forming machine has 30 members per die. An analysis of the stress deformation and temperature deviation of this machine is carried out using ANSYS Workbench and CFX-11 under the design conditions. According to this analysis, the maximum deflection in the Z-direction is $0.05104{\mu}m$ and the maximum temperature deviation is $0.7^{\circ}C$ when the temperature of the heating block unit is $175^{\circ}C$. It was also found that these values are structurally safe. The advantage of the developed multi-production forming machine is demonstrated to be in its offering of a proper voice test.

  • 자기 펄스 성형장치란, 고강도 자기장을 이용하는 소성가공법이다. 자기 펄스 설형장치는 기존의 프레스 공정에 비해 가공 후 성형품의 표면 품질이 좋고 공정이 단순하며 가공속도가 높아 가공시간이 매우 짧은 장점을 가지고 있다. 본 연구에서는 자기 펄스 성형장치의 각각 변수들이 성형력에 미치는 영향력을 분석하기 위해 파라미터 연구를 수행하였다. 자기 펄스 성형장치의 각각 변수들은 인가전압, 캐패시터 용량, 코일의 턴 수로 나누어 지며, 각각의 변수들이 성형압력에 미치는 영향력을 분석하는데 상용전자기 해석 프로그램인 MAXWELL을 이용하였다.

  • For electromagnetic forming(EMF) the most important feature is a forming coil which creates the electromagnetic force(Lorentz force), using current density and a magnetic field. Most previous papers have concentrated on the final configuration of the blank or the efficiency of EMF process. Studies focused on the design parameters affected by the forming coil performance have not been conducted. In order to design a suitable forming coil for an object, the current study uses LS-DYNA EM-Module to not only optimize the coil but also to examine the effect of coil performance. By this method a suitable forming coil was made and tested to determine whether or not good formability was achieved in a free bulge test Numerical analysis was also used. The workpiece was Al 1100-O with a thickness of 1.27mm and the coil was made from copper CW004A, which has good electrical conductivity and is suitable for electrical components.

  • A cowl cross is a part of the car's instrument panel used to maintain the rigidity of the vehicle body side. The application of laser welding has the benefits of speed and thermal deformation compared to arc welding. An ultra-high strength steel sheet is used to reduce the weight of the vehicle body parts. Generally, formability of such a steel sheet is poor because its elongation is very low. For this reason, a method for cold forming of an ultra-high strength steel sheet is required. This paper describes how to improve the formability and weldability of the ultra-high strength steel sheet. Mechanical tests of this material were also performed to evaluate the welding properties of $CO_2$ (GMAW) and those of laser welding.

순차적 전자기-구조 연성해석을 통한 전자기성형 공정 해석 (Analysis of Electromagnetic Forming Using Sequential Electromagnetic-Mechanical Coupled Simulations)

  • A sequential coupled field analysis of electromagnetic free bulging was performed by using FEM. A 2D axi-symmetric electromagnetic model based on the magnetic vector potential is proposed for the calculation of magnetic field and Lorentz's forces. The Newmark integration method is used to calculate the transient dynamic plastic deformation of sheet during free bulging. In the finite element model, the effect of sheet deformation on the electromagnetic field analysis is taken into consideration. In order to confirm the sequential electromagnetic-mechanical coupling analysis, an experiment with an electromagnetic forming apparatus was conducted. The results showed that the final bulge height of the sheet predicted from the proposed method is in good agreement with experimentally measured height.
