Multi-crystalline Silicon Solar Cell with Reactive Ion Etching Texturization

  • High efficiency silicon solar cell requires the textured front surface to reduce reflectance and to improve the light trapping. In case of mono-crystalline silicon solar cell, wet etching with alkaline solution is widespread. However, the alkali texturing methods are ineffective in case of multi-crystalline silicon wafer due to grain boundary of random crystallographic orientation. The acid texturing method is generally used in multi-crystalline silicon wafer to reduce the surface reflectance. However the acid textured solar cell gives low short-circuit current due to high reflectivity while it improves the open-circuit voltage. To reduce the reflectivity of multi-crystalline silicon wafer, double texturing method with combination of acid and reactive ion etching is an attractive technical solution. In this paper, we have studied to optimize RIE experimental condition with change of RF power (100W, 150W, 200W, 250W, 300W). During experiment, the gas ratio of SF6 and O2 was fixed as 30:10.

  • Characteristics of various material surface plasmon resonance (SPR) chips were investigated in angular interrogation mode and intensity interrogation mode. Among five metals, silver (Ag), gold (Au), copper (Cu), chromium (Cr) and titanium (Ti), three metals, Ag, Au and Cu were paid attention to since their characteristics can be easily analyzed in angular interrogation mode by investigating the change of their reflectance curves according to refractive index change from 1.331 to 1.335. Most of SPR chips with various configurations showed the similar property in angular interrogation mode. The application of the SPR chip made of Ag, Au and Cu or their combinations depends on their reflectance properties. In intensity interrogation mode, the operation range may be limited since the variation of the intensity was not linearly related to refractive index change ranging from 1.331 to 1.335. However, the SPR chip containing high ratio of Ag may be applicable to high sensitive detection due to their sharp reflectance curves in intensity interrogation mode.

고해상도 위성영상의 화소기반 태양 천정각 및 촬영각 추출 및 평가 (Evaluation on extraction of pixel-based solar zenith and offnadir angle for high spatial resolution satellite imagery)

  • KOMPSAT-3, 3A호의 운용 및 다양한 특성을 가지는 차세대중형위성의 발사에 따라서, 고해상도 위성영상의 활용이 지속적으로 증대되고 있다. 특히, ARD (Analysis Ready Data) 형태로의 위성영상 제공을 위하여 기하보정 및 방사보정 등의 다양한 전처리에 대한 연구가 이루어지고 있다. 위성영상의 전처리를 위해서는 촬영 영상에 관한 보조정보가 필요하며, 태양 천정각, 태양 방위각, 촬영각 등이 대표적인 자료이다. 그러나, 대부분의 고해상도 위성영상은 영상 전체에 대한 태양 천정각 및 촬영각을 단일 변수로 제공하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 RFM (Rational Function Model) 및 영상의 보조정보들을 이용하여 영상의 각 화소에 대응되는 태양 천정각 및 촬영각을 산출해보고, 이에 따른 품질을 평가해보고자 하였다. 특히, 화소 기반의 태양 천정각 및 촬영각의 활용을 위하여, 대기상부 반사율(top of atmospheric reflectance)을 산출함에 있어서, 화소 기반의 보조 자료를 적용하고, 단일 상수 기반의 대기상부 반사율과의 비교평가를 수행하였다. 실험 결과, 화소 기반의 태양 천정각 및 촬영각 정보는 보조정보와 유사한 경향을 보였으며, 이를 이용하여 계산된 대기상부 반사율은 왜곡이 감소되었음을 확인하였다.

GENERATION OF FOREST FRACTION MAP WITH MODIS IMAGES USING ENDMEMBER EXTRACTED FROM HIGH RESOLUTION IMAGE

  • This paper is to present an approach for generating coarse resolution (MODIS data) fraction images of forested region in Korea peninsula using forest type area fraction derived from high resolution data (ASTER data) in regional forest area. A 15-m spatial resolution multi-spectral ASTER image was acquired under clear sky conditions on September 22, 2003 over the forested area near Seoul, Korea and was used to select each end-member that represent a pure reflectance of component of forest such as different forest, bare soil and water. The area fraction of selected each end-member and a 500-m spatial resolution MODIS reflectance product covering study area was applied to a linear mixture inversion model for calculating the fraction image of forest component across the South Korea. We found that the area fraction values of each end-member observed from high resolution image data could be used to separate forest cover in low resolution image data.

Effects of Environmental Conditions on Vegetation Indices from Multispectral Images: A Review

  • The utilization of multispectral imaging systems (MIS) in remote sensing has become crucial for large-scale agricultural operations, particularly for diagnosing plant health, monitoring crop growth, and estimating plant phenotypic traits through vegetation indices (VIs). However, environmental factors can significantly affect the accuracy of multispectral reflectance data, leading to potential errors in VIs and crop status assessments. This paper reviewed the complex interactions between environmental conditions and multispectral sensors emphasizing the importance of accounting for these factors to enhance the reliability of reflectance data in agricultural applications.An overview of the fundamentals of multispectral sensors and the operational principles behind vegetation index (VI) computation was reviewed. The review highlights the impact of environmental conditions, particularly solar zenith angle (SZA), on reflectance data quality. Higher SZA values increase cloud optical thickness and droplet concentration by 40-70%, affecting reflectance in the red (-0.01 to 0.02) and near-infrared (NIR) bands (-0.03 to 0.06), crucial for VI accuracy. An SZA of 45° is optimal for data collection, while atmospheric conditions, such as water vapor and aerosols, greatly influence reflectance data, affecting forest biomass estimates and agricultural assessments. During the COVID-19 lockdown,reduced atmospheric interference improved the accuracy of satellite image reflectance consistency. The NIR/Red edge ratio and water index emerged as the most stable indices, providing consistent measurements across different lighting conditions. Additionally, a simulated environment demonstrated that MIS surface reflectance can vary 10-20% with changes in aerosol optical thickness, 15-30% with water vapor levels, and up to 25% in NIR reflectance due to high wind speeds. Seasonal factors like temperature and humidity can cause up to a 15% change, highlighting the complexity of environmental impacts on remote sensing data. This review indicated the importance of precisely managing environmental factors to maintain the integrity of VIs calculations. Explaining the relationship between environmental variables and multispectral sensors offers valuable insights for optimizing the accuracy and reliability of remote sensing data in various agricultural applications.

TiO2/SiO2 다층 박막 평판 mirror의 광학적 반사 (Optical reflectance of TiO2/SiO2 multilayer coating flat mirrors)

  • 파장범위 620~820nm에서 반사가 큰 $TiO_2/SiO_2$ 33층 박박 mirror를 설계하고 전자 빔 증착 방법으로 제작하였다. 다층박막은 BK7 유리 기판에 연속적으로 증착하였다. 고반사박막 설계는 중심파장 ${\lambda}_0$ 주변에 stopband가 만들어지는 것과 같은, 고굴절률을 가지는 층($n_H$)과 저굴절률을 가지는 층($n_L$)을 반복해서 하였다. 입사각 $40^{\circ}{\pm}7^{\circ}$인 투과도 측정 스펙트럼에서 전체적으로 파장범위 620~820nm에서 99.9%의 반사를 보였다. 파장이 700~740nm에서 투과도가 큰 피크를 보였다.

법과학 분야에서 디지털 적외선 사진을 위한 노출 결정 방법 (The Method of Exposure Determination for Digital Infrared Photography in Forensic Field)

  • 과거 적외선 사진은 다소 까다로운 제작과정 때문에 쉽게 접근하기 어려운 측면이 있었다. 하지만 최근 디지털 기술의 발전으로 상당히 쉽고 간편해 졌기 때문에 활용 분야와 범위가 넓어질 것으로 예상된다. 따라서 본 연구는 이런 움직임에 맞춰 과학사진을 위한 적외선 대역의 노출과 톤 관리를 위한 표준차트의 필요성이 있다고 판단하여 진행하였다. 적외선 표준 차트의 제작은 두 가지 방법으로 접근하였다. 첫 번째는 알루미늄을 이용한 제작방법이었다. 알루미늄은 양극산화처리를 거쳐 산화피막을 형성하게 되면 높은 내구성과 내식성 내열성을 가지면서도 두께에 따라 적외선 대역에서의 어느 정도의 반사율을 조절할 수 있었다. 두 번째 접근 방법은 안료를 사용하는 방법이었다. 가장 밝은 패치를 위해서 Yellow 10P150라는 특수 안료를 사용하였다. 이 안료는 열에 강하며 높은 적외선 반사율을 가지도록 특수 제작된 안료로 본 실험에 적합하였다. 가장 어두운 패치를 위해 사용한 카본블랙 안료를 사용하였다. 카본블랙은 적외선을 많이 흡수하고 빛에 의해 색이 변하지 않는 안료이기 때문에 적합하였다. 이 두 안료를 섞어 더욱 세밀한 반사율 조절이 가능하였다. 최종적으로 패치들을 모아 실질적인 적외선 반사율을 기준으로 6개의 패치를 선택하였다. 이들을 촬영하여 확인한 결과 피사체의 적외선 반사율을 알아냄과 동시에 적절한 콘트라스트를 가지는 사진을 얻을 수 있다.

가시 밴드와 근적외 밴드를 이용한 해무 탐지 알고리즘 (Sea Fog Detection Algorithm Using Visible and Near Infrared Bands)

  • GOCI(: Geostationary Ocean Color Imager)는 8개 밴드의 레일리 보정 반사도를 이용하여 수평 $500m{\times}500m$의 높은 공간 해상도로 해무를 탐지한다. 가시광선과 근적외선은 지표면의 특성을 강하게 반영하여 구름과 안개 판별에 오차를 유발한다. Band7 반사도의 임계값을 설정하여 육지로 유입되는 해무를 탐지할 수 있었다. Band4 반사도가 Band8보다 크게 나타나는 영역이 구름으로 판별되는 경우는 주변 영역과 평균 반사도의 비교를 통해 해무로 탐지되는 오류를 보정하였다. 개선된 알고리즘은 천리안위성(COMS: Communication, Ocean, Meteorological Satellite)의 안개 영상 및 기상청 시정계 자료와 비교하여 검증되었다.

반투명 태양전지용 Al-Ti계 산화물 박막의 반사율 특성 개선에 관한 연구 (Study on Reflectance Improvement of Al-Ti Based Oxide Thin Films for Semitransparent Solar Cell Applications)

  • This work reports the preparation of Al-Ti based oxide thin films and their optical properties. Although the transmittance of a $TiO_2/Al2O_3$ bilayer structure was as high as 90% at wavelengths of 600 nm or larger, the reflectance of the bilayer reached its minimum at wavelengths of around 360 nm. The transmittance of an 89-nm-thick $TiO_2$ thin film rapidly increased and then decreased at a critical wavelength because of destructive interference. The wavelength corresponding to the reflectance minimum increased after an increase in $TiO_2$ film thickness. The smooth surface morphology of the AlTiO thin film was retained up to a film thickness of 65 nm, and the transmittance of the film was inversely proportional to film thickness, in accordance with the general tendency for optical films. The reflectance of the AlTiO film at visible light wavelengths was lower than that of the $TiO_2$ film, which implies that the AlTiO film is suitable for applications as an optical thin film layer in semitransparent solar cells.

Spinel Pigment의 생성반응에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Formation of Spinel Pigment(Green Pigment based on Magnesium-Chrome))

  • This study was conducted to research the formation, color development and application for colored glazes of the spinel solid solutions of the green pigment. On specimens prepared by calcining the oxide and basic carbonate mixture at 1250℃ for 1.5 hour, the x-ray analysis, measurement of reflectance and the test of their stabiality as a glaze pigment were carried out. The results are summarized as follows 1) Each sample is composed of single spinel and not of mixture of spinel. 2) Formation of continuous soild solution, except for a few instances, pertaining to Vegard's law was confirmed by means of the x-ray analysis. 3) The more difference between absorption and reflectance lies, the lighter colors are. When the absorption occurs at the high-reflectance, the excitation purity becomes low. On the contrary when the absorption takes place at the low-reflectance, the excitation purity becomes low. On the contrary when the absorption takes place at the low-reflectance, the excitation purity is higher. 4) Colors obtained in the CdO-MgO-Cr2O3-Al2O3 system, as the amounts of Al3+ increased, change from green through brown to pink, and the absorption peak shifts towards violet region. 5) An increase in Co2+ in the CoO-MgO-Cr2O3-Al2O3 system, changes the color from blue green to dark blue. The excitation purity is higher, and the absorption peak shifts toward regions. 6) Colors are green in the NiO-MgO-Cr2O3 and CdO-MgO-Cr2O3 systems in general, but in the ZnO-MgO-Cr2O3 system brillant hue is not obtained. 70 According to the results of the colored glaze test, the spinels turn outto be stable as brilliant glaze pigment in the calcium-magnesia glaze.
