Removal of OH Spectral Interferences from Aqueous Solvents in Inductively Coupled Plasma-Atomic Emission Spectrometry (ICP-AES) with Ar Cryogenic Desolvation

  • The spectral interferences of OH from aqueous solvents in ICP-AES have been studied and eliminated using a cryogenic argon trap. The prominent lines of Bi I 306.772 nm, Al I 309.271 nm, and V II 310.230 nm, which are very seriously overlapped with the OH band, were examined. With an extended torch and high tangential flow of 20 L/min, water vapor from air entrainment was prevented. The combination of a condenser and argon cryogenic trap was able to eliminated most of water vapor carried by the argon sample gas. Removal of OH spectral interference could extend the linearity of the calibration curve 5-10 times on the lower concentration for ICP-AES. Interference Equivalent Concentration (IEC) has been reduced to 5.6, 5.9, and 12.4 times for Bi, Al and V, respectively.

Dosimetry Application of Irradiated D-fructose using the Electron Paramagnetic Resonance

  • We examine dosimetry application of irradiated D-fructose materials using electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR). Consequently, we consider that fructose is one of best dosimetry materials. We found that fructose is one of best candidates for dosimetry due to high linearity tilt of EPR signal intensity as a function of dose, irrelevant to photon energy, constant fading value. Also, our results show that fructose materials can be applied as a radiation detector to very weak radiation doses of 0.001 Gray by using EPR at a low temperature (T = 220 K).

  • A highly sensitive, giant magnetoresistance-spin valve (GMR-SV) biosensing device with high linearity and very low hysteresis was fabricated by photolithography. The detection of magnetic nanoparticles and Fe-hemoglobin inside red blood cells using the GMR-SV biosensing device was investigated. When a sensing current of 1 mA was applied to the current electrode in the patterned active devices with an area of $2{\times}6{\mu}m^2$, the output signals were about 13.35 mV. The signal from even one drop of human blood and nanoparticles in distilled water was sufficient for their detection and analysis.

  • A SSIMT(Suppressed Sidewall Injection Magnetotransistor) sensor with high linearity is presented in this thesis. The prototype is fabricated by using the Hynix 0.6$\mu\textrm{m}$ P-substrate twin-well double poly three-metal CMOS Process. The fabricated SSIMT shows that variation of the collector current is extremely linear by varing the magnetic induction from -200mT to 200mT at I$\_$B/=500${\mu}$A, V$\_$CE/=2V and V$\_$SUB/=5V. The relative sensitivity is up to 120%/T. At B = 0, magnetic offset is about 79mT, there relative sensitivity is 30.5%/T. The nonlinearity of the fabricated SSIMT is measured about 1.4%.

  • To develop the highly sensitive Magneto-Impedance sensor, the amorphous ribbon was micro-processed to meander type sensor pattern and the filter circuit was constructed with this pattern. Its external magnetic field dependence of impedance and the output properties of the filter circuit were investigated. The impedance of the pattern had a peak value at the magnetic field of 10 Oe and its changing ratio was about 280%. The impedance change per unit magnetic field was about 36%, in which the output with high sensitivity and linearity could be obtained. The output sensitivity was about 7%/Oe at bias field of 6 Oe..

  • Power amplifier linearity plays a major role in the design of RF communication systems. In this paper, predistortion type linearizer was designed an independently controllable AM/AM and AM/PM predistortion linearizers. This linearizer allows independent adjustment of the AM/AM and AM/PM curves by using two adjustable voltages to compensate the power amplifier non-linearities. The predistortion linearizer was improved the ACPR by 6dB with cdma2000 multi carrier signals. Applying this linearizer to two-tone 880MHz power amplifier, an improvement of adjacent channel leakage power up to 5dBm has been achieved.

  • Field robot represented by excavator can be applied for various kinds of working in manufacturing, construction, agriculture etc. because of the flexibility of its multi-joint mechanism and the high power of hydraulic actuators. In general, the dynamics of field robot have strong coupling, various kinds of non-linearity, and time varying parameters according to working conditions. Therefore, it is very difficult to describe the system well, and design controller systematically based on its model. This paper established the mathematical model of field robot driven by electro-hydraulic servomechanism and constructed the adaptive control system robust to external load variations. The proposed control system for the field robot was evaluated by the computer simulation, and the performance results of trajectory tracking were compared with that of PID control system.

  • In general, for high performance pressure control system, hydraulic system with electo hydraulic servo valve controls flow rate, it contains many nonlinear term like square-root and change of bulk modulus by flow rate. But, DDV(Direct Drive Valve) contains pressure control loop itself, then it can eliminate nonlinearity and achieve linearity for hydraulic system. In this paper, parameter identification method which uses input and ouput data is applied to obtain DDV's mathematical model and parameter assuming that dynamic characteristic of DDV is first order system. Then, the state feedback controller was designed to implement the force control of hydraulic system , and the control performance was evaluated.

  • In the intelligent integrated systems, the delay time must be reduced using highly parallel processors, as well as high throughput performance. In this paper, we propose a new concept for building 3D highly parallel processors using multi-layer printed wiring boards with built-in soldering heater (BISH-PWB). The proposed BISH is realized with the long and narrow cupper wiring pattern on the internal layer in the terminal pattern area. Based on the linearity of the cupper resistance vs. temperature, we can measure the BISH, temperature and its calorific value from the heater voltage and current measurements.   • Recently, SSPAs(Solid-State Power Amplifiers) with high linearity and efficiency replace TWTAs (Traveling-Wave-Tube Amplifiers) in satellite transponders. In this paper, a power amplifier with maximum output power is designed and constructed using GaAs FET(MGF-1302) as a test model for the development of SSPAs. For conjugate matching of input and output network, transimission lines and stubs are optimized using microwave CAD program, LINMIC+. Power amplifier is realized on the teflon substrate($\in$S1rT=2.45) with a bandwidth of 1GHz at a center frequency of 8GHz. Maximum stable gain of simulation and simulation and experimental result is obtained 9.23, 7.65 dB, respectively.
