In this study, to evaluate the correlation between hydration heat and autogenous shrinkage of high strength concrete in early age, statistical method present numerically hydration heat and autogenous shrinkage was studied. First of all, hydration heating velocity and autogenous shrinking velocity as quantitative coefficients which represent the main properties of hydration heat and autogenous shrinkage were proposed. Two coefficients were calculated by statistical analysis and were equal with the regression coefficient. To verify the validity of the proposed statistical analysis method, data of hydration heat and autogenous shrinkage gathered by a real experiment were analyzed by it. In results, properties of hydration heat and autogenous shrinkage of high strength concrete in early age were analyzed quantitatively. Also evaluation and comparison of the correlation between hydration heat and autogenous shrinkage with numerical value were possible.

The present study investigated the effect of the combined carbonation and steam curing on the physicochemical properties and CO2 uptake of the Portland cement concrete. Four different curing regimes were adopted during the initial 10 h of curing to evaluate the potential of carbonation curing as an alternative to conventional steam curing in the precast concrete industry from environmental and practical viewpoints. Four combinations of carbonation and steam curing conditions were applied as curing regimes to the samples at an early age. The test results indicated that the samples treated with the combined carbonation and steam curing exhibited higher early strength development compared to the other samples, signifying that carbonation curing can reduce the production time of precast concrete. Furthermore, the CO2 uptake capacity of the samples was calculated and found to be as high as 18% with respect to the mass of the paste samples. Hence, the simultaneous utilization of steam and CO2 for the fabrication of precast concrete members has the potential to make precast concrete greener and more cost-effective.
The influence of prestress force on the fundamental frequency and static deflection shape of uncracked Prestressed Concrete (PC) beams with a parabolic bonded tendon was examined in this paper. Due to the conflicts among existing theories, the analytical solutions for properly considering the dynamic and static behavior of these members is not straightforward. A series of experiments were conducted for a total period of approximately 2.5 months on a PC beam made with high strength concrete, subsequently and closely to the 28 days of age of concrete. Specifically, the simply supported PC member was short term subjected to free transverse vibration and three-point bending tests during its early-age. Subsequently, the experimental data were compared with a model that describes the dynamic behavior of PC girders as a combination of two substructures interconnected, i.e., a compressed Euler-Bernoulli beam and a tensioned parabolic cable. It was established that the fundamental frequency of uncracked PC beams with a parabolic bonded tendon is sensitive to the variation of the initial elastic modulus of concrete in the early-age curing. Furthermore, the small variation in experimental frequency with time makes doubtful its use in inverse problem identifications. Conversely, the relationship between prestress force and static deflection shape is well described by the magnification factor formula of the "compression-softening" theory by assuming the variation of the chord elastic modulus of concrete with time.
Shotcrete has been referred to as gunite, pneumatically applied mortar or concrete, sprayed concrete or mortar. There are sound reasons why sprayed mortar is one of the best portland cement based material for repairing old concrete structures. However, it is difficult to find the research results on the latex-modified mortar nevertheless on the impact of air onto the fresh and hardened properties of latex-modified mortar. So, the main experimental program included strength test, slump test, rapid chloride permeability test, image analysis for air void system, and chemical attacks with the main experimental variables of latex content, fine aggregate content, water-cement ratio, and air foamer content.

This paper presents the feasibility of incorporating ultrafine particles collected in the separator bag filter (separator bag filter cement, SBFC) during the cement manufacturing process as an substitution material for cement. SBFC does not require additional processes needed in the existing processes to manufacture high early strength cement such as modifying mineral components and adjusting the firing temperature. Moreover, it can also solve the issue of efficiency decrease resulted from the increase of the grinding time applied in the existing process of manufacturing microcement. Therefore, this research has examined the characteristics of SBFC and fresh properties and mechanical properties after making paste and mortar using SBFC in order to use SBFC as a material to gain early strength of concrete. For results, analyzing the chemical composition and physical properties of SBFC, its blaine value was $6,953cm^3/g$, about double than that of OPC, but its chemical composition showed no significant difference. According to the result of the paste and mortar examination, the paste and mortar mixed with SBFC showed a lower flowability, earlier setting time, and higher compressive strength than that with OPC. The result of microstructure analysis of paste, the paste mixed with SBFC indicated about 9% lower internal porosity at an early age than that of OPC. The compressive strength and flexural strength of mortar were higher in the order of SBFC ratio of 100, 50 and 0% SBFC.

The purpose of this study is to develope the strength prediction model by Maturity Method. A maturity function is a mathematical expression to account for the combined effects of time and temperature on the strength development of a cementious mixture. The method of equivalent ages is to use Arrhenius equation which indicates the influence of curing temperature on the initial hydration ratio of cement. For the experimental factors of this study, we selected the concrete mixing of W/C ratio 45, 50, 55 and 60% and curing temperature 5, 10, 20 and $30^{\circ}C$. And we compare and evaluate with logistic model that is existing strength prediction model, because we have to verify adaption possibility of new strength prediction model which is proposed by maturity method. As the results, it is found that investigation of the activation energy that are used to calculate equivalent age is necessary, and new strength prediction model was proved to be more accurate in the strength prediction than logistic model in the early age. Moreover, the use of new model was more reasonable because it has low SSE and high decisive factor.

Precast concrete blocks are used mainly for score protection, slope protection and riverbed structure protection, etc. Because these concrete blocks are exposed to water or wetting environments, the steel rebar used as reinforcements in concrete blocks can corrode easily. Corrosion of the steel rebar tends to reduce the performance and service life of the concrete blocks. In this study, Glass Fiber Reinforced Polymer(GFRP) rebar, which does not corrode, was applied instead of a steel rebar to prevent performance degradation of the blocks. Recycled concrete aggregate and high early strength cement(HESC) were used in the concrete mix for field applicability. The experiment results showed that the workability and form removal strength of the recycled aggregate concrete using HESC showed comparable results to normal concrete and the compressive strength at 28 days increased by about 18% compared to normal concrete. The load resistance capacity of the recycled aggregate concrete blocks reinforced with a GFRP rebar increased by approximately 10~30% compared to common concrete block.

Silica fume is a common addition to high performance concrete mix designs. The use of silica fume in concrete leads to increased water demand. For this reason, Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) allows only a 72-hour continuous moist cure process for concrete containing silica fume. Accelerated curing has been shown to be effective in producing high-performance characteristics at early ages in silica-fume concrete. However, the heat greatly increases the moisture loss from exposed surfaces, which may cause shrinkage problems. An experimental study was undertaken to determine the feasibility of steam curing of FDOT concrete with silica fume in order to reduce precast turnaround time. Various steam curing durations were utilized with full-scale precast prestressed pile specimens. The concrete compressive strength and shrinkage were determined for various durations of steam curing. Results indicate that steam cured silica fume concrete met all FDOT requirements for the 12, 18 and 24 hours of curing periods. No shrinkage cracking was observed in any samples up to one year age. It was recommended that FDOT allow the 12 hour steam curing for concrete with silica fume.

The purpose of the study was to improve quality of high volume fly ash concrete. The study evaluated on the possibility of early quality improvement of high volume fly ash concrete with early strength gain admixture ('GA' below) developed by the preceding research. The study regarded applying naphthalene admixture ('NA' below) to mix proportion substituting FA 15 % to be plain. In the event of substituting FA 20, 25 and 30 %, the study compared engineering properties of concrete with plain by applying GA. Because of features of fresh concrete, fluidity falls down when GA is applied. Therefore, its use amount shall be increased. Only, in W/B 60 %, it was beneficial since slump loss was reduced about 35~70 mm than plain. The study could see that AE use should be increased proportionally since air content was reduced by coming from AE absorption operation of unburned coal content included in FA according to an increase in the amount of FA use. Reduction effect of bleeding could be anticipated since the amount of bleeding appeared at least in FA 20 %. Because of hardened concrete, time of setting appeared in the same level as plain when GA was applied. Therefore, it is judged that delay of setting can be reduced. In compressive strength, the study could check the same strength development as plain when GA was applied, having nothing to do with W/B and curing temperature. However, it is thought that we shall pay attention to GA use in the event of FA 30 % substitution. Freezing and melting resistance had less early value than plain. However, it is judged that there will be no problem of frost resistance since there is no a large difference between freezing and melting resistance and plain in overall. In accelerated neutralization, it was analyzed that a problem of weakening in neutralization appointed as a demerit when FA was applied in mass in proportion with GA use could be settled to some extent.
This report presents the results of an investigation on the early strength development of pastes high volume slag cement (HVSC) activated with different concentration of sodium carbonate ($Na_2CO_3$). The ordinary Portland cement (OPC) was replaced by ground granulated blast furnace slag (GGBFS) from 50% to 90% by mass, the dry powders were blended before the paste mixing. The $Na_2CO_3$ was added at 0, 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10% by total binder (OPC+GGBFS) weight. A constant water-to-binder ratio (w/b)=0.45 was used for all mixtures. The research carried out the compressive strength, ultrasonic pulse velocity (UPV), water absorption and X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis at early ages(1 and 3 days). The incase of mixtures, V5 (50% OPC + 50% GGBFS), V6 (40% OPC + 60% GGBFS) and V7 (30% OPC + 70% GGBFS) specimens with 6% $Na_2CO_3$, V8 (20% OPC + 80% GGBFS) and V9 (10% OPC + 90% GGBFS) specimens with 10% $Na_2CO_3$ showed the maximum strength development. The results of UPV and water absorption showed a similar tendency to the strength properties. The XRD analysis of specimens indicated that the hydration products formed in samples were CSH and calcite phases.
