  • The current IP Routing Protocolspacket networks also need to provide the network QoS based of DiffServ, RSVP, MPLStraffic model which is standardized as IETF reference model for NGN. The first topic of this paper is to propose Traffic-Balanced Routing Protocol(TBRP) to process existing best effort traffic. TBRP will process low priority interactive data and background data which is not sensitive to dealy. Secondly Hierarchical Traffic-Traffic-Scheduling Routing Protocol(HTSRP) is also proposed. HTSRP is the hierarchical routing algorithm for backbone and access networkin case of fixed-wireless convergence network. Finally, HTSRP_Q is proposed to meet the QoS requirement when user want interactive or streaming packet service. This protocol will maximize the usage of resources of access layer based on the QoS parameters and process delay-sensitive traffic. Service classes are categorized into 5 types by the user request, such as conversational, streaming, high priority interactive, low priority interactive, and background class. It could be processed efficiently by the routing protocolstraffic model proposed in this paper. The proposed routing protocolstraffic model provides the increase of efficiency and stability of the next generation network thanks to the routing according to the characteristic of the specialized service categories.

  • Wireless sensor networks are composed of a lot of sensor nodes and they are used to monitor environments. Since many studies on wireless sensor networks have considered a stationary sink node, they cannot provide fully ubiquitous applications based on a mobile sink node. In those applications, routing paths for a mobile sink node should be updated while a sink node moves in order to deliver sensor data without data loss. In this paper, we propose a method to continuously update routing paths for a mobile sink node which can be extended on hierarchical multi-hop routing protocols in wireless sensor networks. The efficiency of the proposed scheme has been validated through comparing existing method using a location based routing protocol by extensive computer simulation.

  • In a modern society, people are concerned seriously about their travel destinations depending on time, economic problem. In this paper, we propose an non-hierarchical clustering based hybrid recommendation using context knowledge. The proposed method is personalized way of recommended knowledge about preferred travel places according to the user's location, place, and weather. Based on 14 attributes from the data collected through the survey, users with similar characteristics are grouped using a non-hierarchical clustering based hybrid recommendation. This makes more accurate recommendation by weighting implicit and explicit data. The users can be recommended a preferred travel destination without spending unnecessary time. The performance evaluation uses accuracy, recall, F-measure. The evaluation result was shown 0.636 accuracy, 0.723 recall, and 0.676 F-measure.

  • This study aims to examine the intermediary roles of employee performance between high performance work system (HPWS) and its operational performance on the resource based view. Taking into account the unit of analysis, this study used a hierarchical linear modeling analysis in order to test rigorously the association between HPWS at the organisational level and employee performance at the individual level. For this empirical test, Human Capital Corporate Panel (HCCP) data including 316 firms and 7,872 respondents (including 923 team leaders) were used. To meet the unit of analysis and test the mediation effect, data at the individual and team level were aggregated into the organisational level. The empirical results show that HPWS have a positive impact on operational performance as well as employee performance such as job satisfaction, organisational commitment and organisational trust. Regarding the mediation effect, job satisfaction and organisational trust mediate between HPWS and operational performance. Theoretical implications are discussed in conclusion.

  • Following the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, the United States declared war on terror and invaded Afghanistan and Iraq, winning quickly. However, interest in analyzing terrorist activities has developed as a result of a significant amount of time being spent on the post-war stabilization effort, which failed to minimize the number of terrorist activities that occurred later. Based on terrorist data from 2003 to 2010, this study utilized a Bayesian hierarchical model to forecast the terrorist threat in 2011. The model depicts spatiotemporal dependence with predictors such as population and religion by autonomous district. The military commander in charge of the region can utilize the forecast value based on the our model to prevent terrorism by deploying forces efficiently.

  • This study examines the relationship between social-emotional competence, major satisfaction, and career preparation behaviors for nursing students and identifies factors influencing career preparation behaviors. Data collection was conducted from December 5, 2023, to January 3, 2024, targeting 197 nursing college students (2nd to 4th year) from universities located in S City, C Province, and K Province. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS 29.0 software, employing descriptive statistics, t-tests, ANOVA (post hoc analysis using Scheffe), Pearson's correlation, and hierarchical multiple regression. The results indicated statistically significant positive correlations among nursing students' social-emotional competence, major satisfaction, and career preparation behaviors. Hierarchical multiple regression analysis revealed that factors influencing career preparation behaviors included year of study, participation in career-related programs, social-emotional competence, and major satisfaction, with these variables explaining 40.3% of the variance in career preparation behaviors. Based on the results, it is necessary to develop and apply programs to strengthen social-emotional competencies considering the academic year of nursing student. And customized career programs should be established to increase major satisfaction.

  • This paper consists of two parts: In the first part, we describe our work to build hierarchical knowledge base of digital library patron's research interests and learning topics in various scholarly areas through analyzing well classified Electronic Theses and Dissertations (ETDs) of NDLTD Union catalog. Journal articles from ACM Transactions and conference web sites of computing areas also are added in the analysis to specialize computing fields. This hierarchical knowledge base would be a useful tool for many social computing and information service applications, such as personalization, recommender system, text mining, technology opportunity mining, information visualization, and so on. In the second part, we compare four grouping algorithms to select best one for our data mining researches by testing each one with the hierarchical knowledge base we described in the first part. From these two studies, we intent to show traditional verification methods for social community miming researches, based on interviewing and answering questionnaires, which are expensive, slow, and privacy threatening, can be replaced with systematic, consistent, fast, and privacy protecting methods by using our suggested hierarchical knowledge base.

  • In this paper, we analyze the performance of the cooperative relay communication system which uses orthogonal frequency division multiplexing(OFDM) with hierarchical subcarrier modulation. In the cooperative relay communication system, data transmission is accomplished in two time slots. In the first time slot, the source broadcasts the signal to the relay and to the destination. The relay demodulates the received signal, remodulates and forwards it to the destination in the second time slot. The source uses hierarchical modulation for subcarriers to deal with the signal-to-noise power ratio (SNR) difference in the source-relay and source-destination links. The bit error rate (BER) of the relay transmission system with hierarchical modulation depends on the hierarchical modulation parameter. First, we derive the relationship between BER and the parameter, and find the optimal parameter giving the minimum BER through computer simulations. Then, we analyze the performance of the proposed cooperative relay communication system according to the relay location. From this results, we find optimal relay location to maximize the BER performance.

  • Sensor network is a network for realizing the ubiquitous computing circumstances, which aggregates data by means of observation or detection deployed at the inaccessible places with the capacities of sensing and communication. To realize this circumstance, data which sensor nodes gathered from sensor networks are delivered to users, in which it is required to encrypt the data for the guarantee of secure communications. Therefore, it is needed to design key management scheme for encoding appropriate to the sensor nodes which feature continual data transfer, limited capacity of computation and storage and battery usage. We propose a key management scheme which is appropriate to sensor networks organizing hierarchical architecture. Because sensor nodes send data to their parent node, we can reduce routing energy. We assume that sensor nodes have different security levels by their levels in hierarchy. Our key management scheme provides different key establishment protocols according to the security levels of the sensor nodes. We reduce the number of sensor nodes which share the same key for encryption so that we reduce the damage by key exposure. Also, we propose key update protocols which take different terms for each level to update established keys efficiently for secure data encoding.
