  • The cause and mechanism of eye diseases are follow in biblography. The etiological factor of eye diseases are nearly caused by heat. It is important to distinguish deficiency and substance. In external etiologic factors wind-fever is most of all in six exogenous factors. In internal etiologic factors xu(deficiency) of kidney, blood and fire of seven emotions are lots. In factors other than the internal and external, eating greasy food and hyper-caloric food are a lot of case. In relation with the yin-yang andxu-shi, ther are a lot of eye diseases symptom as dark-dizziness due to the yin-xu of hepatic-kidney. According to eight principles of differentiation of syndromes, syndromes of exterior, heat, shi, almost fall into the category of yang and syndromes of interior, cold, xu, nearly fall into the category of yin. In interior treatment, inducing wind and clearing heat, using Qi and tonifying blood, tonifying and suing of hepatic-kid ney are useful and often used treatment.

  • We study on the HYUN-GOG's main principles of Differentiation of Syndromes. HYUN-GOG insisted upon the main principles of Differentiation of Syndromes based on the individual-physiology. The system of Differentiation of Syndromes was composed of the Korean oriental medicine's physiological system. The main principles of Differentiation of Syndromes was mutually explained for the standpoint of eight principal syndromes(differentiation of pathological conditions in accordance with the eight principal syndromes) and the system of Syndrome-complexes based on the physiological system. BON-HER(original deficiency-syndrome), BON-HAN(original cold excess-syndrome), BON-YEOL(original heat excess-syndrome), the three representative syndrome-complexes is previously carried out the details of Differentiation of Syndromes. And the oriental medicine history was rearranged centering around the theory of Differentiation of Syndromes by HYUN-GOG. The theory of Syndrome-complexes was closely connected with prescription by the presentation of the basic organical prescription for the three representative syndrome-complexes.

  • Objectives : The Syndromes of Daecheongryongtang (大靑龍湯證) and Mahwangtang (麻黃湯證) are similar in pathogenesis. However, both syndromes have a different pathogenesis. So we will try to distinguish the difference between the two syndromes. In addition, we'll see about 40 provision. Methods : Examine the claims of the syndrome of Daecheongryongtang in "Sang Han Lon" (傷寒論). The scholar's claims are not all same. Thus, we analysis the claims of many scholars. Results and Conclusions : The Syndromes of Daecheongryongtang and Mahwangtang are similar in pathogenesis. However, the Syndrome of Daecheongryongtang is different from that the sweat purgations in exterior of the body caused by heat in the interior. The pathogenesis of 39 and 40 provisions are different. 40 provision is more severe symptoms than 39 provision in the stagnation. So 40 provision used the term "fazhi (發之)".

  • Purpose: In oriental medicine, doctors have mainly made diagnosis and treatment with amenorrhea or delayed menstrual period based on overall analysis of symptoms and signs patients have. We think patients with amenorrhea or delayed menstrual period to have symptoms that are classified into one differentiation of syndromes, and then studied to make the index. This study has been carried out to investigate pattern identifications and classify symptoms according to them. Methods: We examined 52 patients who visited Dong-eui university oriental medical center from June 2005 to February 2009 for undergoing treatment for amenorrhea or delayed menstrual period and made OB & GY questionnaires up Results: We investigated whether the patients had symptoms concerned with symptom types by analyzing the result of DSOM(Diagnos System of Oriental Medicine, hearafter DSOM). It came out 51 cases among 52 with pathogenesis that was related to the symptom types. The symptom types of were surveyed into Insufficiency of Kidney and Liver(肝腎不足), Insufficiency of Qi and Blood(氣血虛弱), Insufficiency of Yin & Dryness of blood(陰虛血燥), stagnation of Qi and Blood(氣滯血瘀), phlegm and damp(痰濕阻滯), coldness of Blood(血寒), Heat of Heart(心火). Conclusion: As a result of the investigation, one case did not have symptoms of differentiation of syndromes of amenorrhea or delayed menstrual period. 29 cases had 1 or 2 differentiation of syndromes. 21 patients had such complex symptoms of diverse differentiation of syndromes that it was difficult to diagnose a differentiation of syndromes in clinical survey. It is necessary to put the priority among the differentiation of syndromes in diagnosis in the future.

  • The purpose of this study is to introduce heat-clearing music therapy[淸熱音樂療法] as one of the 17 kinds of oriental medicine music therapy. The heat-clearing music therapy[淸熱音樂療法] can be applied to certain types of syndromes. The representative syndromes are flaring-up of the heart Fire[心火], rising of the liver Yang[肝陽], and fidgetiness due to deficiency of Eum(陰, Yin). Metal-Gi[金氣] music and Water-Gi[水氣] music are mainly used in heat-clearing music therapy, The patients with the case of flaring-up of the heart Fire[心火] may listen to Metal-Gi[金氣] music. For the patient with rising of the liver Yang[肝陽], relieving constraint music therapy can be used. In other cases with patients with fidgetiness due to deficiency of Eum, replenishing vital essence music therapy can be used. This study describes the theory of heat-clearing music therapy[淸熱音樂療法] that has a good possibility as a new method of oriental medical treatment.

  • The physiologic and pathologic theories of "The Yellow Emperor's Canon of Internal Medicine (黃帝內經)" were based on yin-yang theory. It has been an important constituent of traditional Chinese medicine, and the eight principal syndromes have been main guidelines in diagnosis and treatment. Recently it had an great influene on the formation of the pathophysiology of Constitutional medicine. Therefore each constitution menifests special pathophysiologic propriorities of the eight pricipal syndromes, especially specific to one's constitution. So we can recognize specific patterns of the yin and yang, cold and heat, exterior and interior, deficient and excessive syndromes through a series of processes distinguishing one's constitution. The theory of the Constitutional medicine, however, has contained those achievements in a new angle and view the problem from a little different standpoint. The dynamic relationships inevitably have caused certain changes and distortions in the meaning and application of eight principles. These are a progress in medical science, and this advance is the stirring venture of Lee jaema. This thesis has intended to show the delicate relationship between the two, and investigate into these "changes and distortions".

  • Objectives Based on related literature, cold and heat, deficiency and excess, true and false, and actually used formulas, paradoxical treatments presented in the 『Plain Questions of Inner Canon of Yellow Emperor』 including ‘treating pseudo-heat symptoms and real cold syndrome with cold herbs, treating pseudo-heat symptoms and real cold syndrome with cold herbs’ were analyzed. Methods Out of literature, paradoxical treatment related classics and papers were investigated and analyzed. Among diseases and syndromes, real cold syndrome with pseudo-heat symptoms, real heat syndrome with pseudo-cold symptoms, real deficiency syndrome with pseudo-excess symptoms, and real excess syndrome with pseudo-deficiency symptoms were reviewed. Among formulas, typical examples of the above mentioned paradoxical treatments were used as examples to analyze paradoxical treatments. Results Treating pseudo-heat symptoms and real cold syndrome with cold herbs is a method that uses herbs with cool and cold nature to treat real cold syndrome with pseudo-heat symptoms and Tongmaeksayeokgajeodamjeuptang is suitable for this method. Treating pseudo-cold symptoms and real heat syndrome with hot herbs is a method that uses herbs with warm and hot nature to treat real heat syndrome with pseudo-cold symptoms and Baekhogainsamtang is suitable for this method. Conclusions Based on the related literature, cold and heat, deficiency and excess, true and false, and actually used formulas examined as mentioned above, the paradoxical treatments presented in the 『Plain Questions of Inner Canon of Yellow Emperor』 are thought to be reasonable paradoxical treatments that fit the diseases and syndromes that actually appeared in our bodies.
