  • YBa2Cu3O7-$\delta$, Y2BaCuO5, and binary compounds in the Ba-Cu-O system with the nominal composition of Ba2CuO3, BaCuO2, Ba3Cu4O7, Ba3Cu5O8 were synthesized to investigate the heat evolutions and crystalline phases in the hydration reaction of orthorhombic YBa2Cu3O7-$\delta$ phase. The observed crystalline phases were YBa2Cu3O7-$\delta$, Y2BaCuO5, and BaCuO2, or Ba2Cu3O5+x, and some amount of noncrystalline phase in the Ba-Cu system comounds. In contact with distilled water, YBa2Cu3O7-$\delta$ and Y2BaCuO5 did not have considerable heat liberation, but in the binary compounds of the Ba-Cu-O system, the amount of total heat liberation was increased with respect to the Cu content. It might be that the reaction of high temperature superconductor YBa2Cu3O7-$\delta$ with water and/or moisture originated from the unusual oxidation state of Cu ion and the presence of amorphous Ba-Cu oxide compound. The degradation of high Tc superconductor by moisture and water could be controlled by restricting the heterogeneous distribution of Tc comlposition and the formation of second phase, such as stable Y2BaCuO5, and the resulting unstable Ba-Cu oxide compound.

  • The surface of particles was energetically modified by inter-grinding OPC and BFS in vibration mill for improvement of the early strength and low-heat evolution of concretes. BFS was pre-grinding in ball-mill to 2535(BS2) and 3245 $cm^2/g$(BS3), in blaine surface area. The inter-grinding time in vibration mill was changed from 10 minutes to 30 minutes. And Mixing ration of BFS to OPC was changed in 60, 70, 80%. After inter-grinding, the change of specific surface area, particle size distribution, hydration heat of cement and compressive strength of mortar were measured. As the result of comparison test with LHC, it was found that the mixture and inter-grinding time satisfying the value of over 100% of compressive strength for 7 days and under 170J/g of heat of hydration for 72 hours. and it was confirmed that the possibility of low heat slag cement utilizing blast furnace slag(BS2, BS3) with the low fineness in high volumes.

  • Design and Manufacturing processes of Ti-6Al-4V profiled ring-products were investigated with three-dimensional FEM simulation and experimental analyses. FEM simulation for the ring-rolling process was used to calculate the state variables such as strain, strain rate and temperature. In the simulation results of strain and temperature distributions for a plane ring rolling process, the strain level at the surface area is higher than that at the mid-plane, but the temperature level at the surface area is lower than that at mid-plane due to heat transfer between the workpiece and the work roll. These distributions showed a great influence on the evolution of microstructure in different positions. In order to induce the uniform deformation of the profile ring and reduce the applied load, the final blank was prepared by two-step processes. The mechanical properties of Ti-6Al-4V alloy ring products made in this work were investigated with tensile and impact tests and analyzed with the evolution of microstructures during the ring rolling process.

  • In the present work, FEM analyses are carried out to investigate the fractures occurred within the structural part in the course of combustion experiment. The loss of structural integrity stems from the localized deformation and the damage induced due to a severe change in the thermal load. Moreover, the two-back stress evolution model is proposed using the Armstrong-Frederick and the Phillips' rules to depict the plastic deformation, and the continuum damage mechanics is also incorporated into the present model. It is noted that the present model is able to formulate a wide range of constitutive description with ease. The numerical results depicts that a severe strain localization and damage evolution can be obtained depending on the dominant back stress.

  • Many researches have been already done on the issues of high temperature deformation and the microstructural evolution. The information has been very useful for the plasticity industry, especially successful for the extrusion. However, the parts made with forging usually have a complex shape. It is difficult to control the distribution of the variables like strain, strain rate and temperature rise due to the working heat during a hot-forging process. Consequently, the microstructural variation could be occurred depending on the plastic deformation history that the forged part would get during a hot forging. In the present study, the microstructural characteristic of a hot-forged 6061 aluminum alloy has been discussed on the aspect of grain size evolution. A forging of 6061 aluminum alloy has been carried out for a complex shape with a dimensional variation. Also, finite element analysis has been done to understand how the deformation variables such as strain, strain rate give an influence on the microstructure of a hot forged aluminum product.

  • The evolution of microstructure and phases of Mg-10Al-Mn alloy by cooling plate method during homogenization treatment have been investigated with metallographic analysis, scanning electron microscopy and energy dispersive spectroscopy. The ingots used for this experiment were prepared by cooling plate and homogenization heat treatment was performed at 300 and $400^{\circ}C$ for various holding times (0, 1, 4, 8 and 12h). The casting ingots were consisted of the fine grains and eutectic phases. And, these eutectic phases were dissolved into the matrix during homogenization treatment at $400^{\circ}C$ but the lower temperature (at $300^{\circ}C$) did not be.

  • In this paper, a three-dimensional hydrogen absorption model is applied to a thin double-layered annulus ZrCo hydride bed and validated against the temperature evolution data measured by Kang et al. The present model reasonably captures the bed temperature evolution behavior and the 99% hydrogen charging time. The equilibrium pressure expression for hydrogen absorption on ZrCo is derived as a function of temperature and the H/M atomic ratio based on the pressure-composition isotherm data given by Konishi et al. In addition, this present model provides multi-dimensional contours such as temperature and H/M atomic ratio in the thin doublelayered annulus metal hydride region. This numerical study provides fundamental understanding during hydrogen absorption process and indicates that efficient design of the metal hydride bed is critical to achieve rapid hydrogen charging performance. The present three-dimensional hydrogen absorption model is a useful tool for the optimization of bed design and operating conditions.

  • We synthesized nano-sized $La_{1-x}Sr_xCoO_3$ ($x=0.1{\sim}0.4$) cathode catalyst for the zinc air secondary batteries by citrate method, And we measured the cathode's electrochemical characteristics according to content of strontium compose the cathode catalyst. We controlled the pH of precursor solution by 10 in the process of manufacturing the precursor, We heat treated the prepared precursor at various calcination temperature ($500{\sim}900^{\circ}C$), and examined the optimum calcinations temperature by XRD analysis and electrochemical evaluation. We examined the ORR (oxygen reduction reaction) and OER (oxygen evolution reaction) performance of the prepared $La_{1-x}Sr_xCoO_3$ catalyst powder. When we consider ORR and OER performance simultaneously, $La_{0.7}Sr_{0.3}CoO_3$ catalyst has shown the best performance because of its lowest voltage deference between charge and discharge.

  • The fire protective coating can reduce certain damages in case of fire, also conserve energy by thermal insulation and prevent corrosion and errosion in normal daily life by means of blocking thermal transfer, that were generally made of organic, inorganic and metallic materials as adiabatic coating. In case of inorganic material such as soluble silicate, it produces less toxic substances which are exposed to Ore, and have a plenty of raw material. Also inorganic thermal insulator is good in heat resistance. To develope such a excellent inorganic thermal insulator, the study of fire protective coating using the alkali silicate is necessary The principle of intumescence for alkali silicate is from rapid evolution of water in the coating material, the quantity of water in it is of course influenced on the degree of intumescence. The phenomenon of intumescence in ternary silicate is increased as the radius of ion is bigger, and this is caused by evolution of so many kinds of water. The individual degree of intumescence is ordered like this ; $K^+$ > $Na^+$ > $Li^+$ . The best protection effect is similarity found to intumescence of ternary silicate. The result of X-ray diffraction analysis indicates that $KHSi_2O_5$ is an important ingredient in K-silicate.
