  • Purpose: The present study purposed to investigate the current state of harmful business places around schools and to survey and analyze how much middle school students know about school environment hygiene purification zones, which have not been much effective. Methods: In addition, this study clarified the problem of harmful environment around schools by inquiring into students' value and perception on worsening harmful environment around schools and provided basic materials necessary for making policies on school education and the protection of educational environment. For these purposes, we conducted a questionnaire survey of 1,000 middle school students in Gyeonggi-do on their perception on harmful environment around their schools, and drew conclusions as follows. Result: Students' knowledge about the School Health Act was low, and they generally thought that the law does not play its role substantially and efficiently in purifying and regulating harmful environment and regulations are superficial and temporary. To the question of whether harmful businesses observe laws for purifying environment around schools, most of the students replied negatively. In actuality, as most of harmful businesses running at school environment hygiene purification zones are stationeries with game rooms, comic book stores, PC rooms, etc., which are highly accessible to students, they become serious problems in school environment. Conclusion: As it is required to make continuous and systematic surveys and researches on the school environment hygiene purification zones, we need to manage school environment efficiently through cooperation among the government, education offices and individual schools.

This study subject was composed of three groups as employers, employees of manufacturing and using the harmful machine and safety inspectors. Manufacturing workplace were 236 places, using workplace were 201 places and the safety inspectors were 100 people. The study subject was sampled by stratified random sampling considering the type of harmful Machine. Data for analysis is collected from each sample using interview with structured questionnaires. Compliance is measured by 2, 3, and 4 point scale composed by 8 sub items such as general perception, understanding, clearness, necessity, relevancy, implementation, penalty, and general compliance of the regulation. The level of 8 items of employer's compliance are not differentiated among three groups. The determining factors for inspection observance of the workplace using the harmful Machine were understanding, penalty and cognized compliance. The determining factors for inspection observance of the workplace manufacturing the harmful Machine were understanding and object conformity. These results show that the strategy to adapt the regulated group to inspection regulation will be the elevation of understanding for regulation first of all.

  • Purposes: This is a study on the perception of safety in use according to cosmetic information. Research design, data and methodology: As a result of analyzing 324 women in their twenties living in the metropolitan area, the following conclusions were drawn. Results: As a result of measuring the awareness of cosmetic information, the awareness of 'cosmetic-related knowledge' (M=3.52) and 'cosmetic performance' (M=3.43) was high, indicating that information on cosmetic knowledge was actively shared with each other. It was understood that the method of use and effect were properly recognized and that the cosmetics were selected. 'Correct cosmetic storage method' is significant in the factors of interest in cosmetics (p<.001), and 'the harmful ingredients of cosmetics that should be avoided' are significant in the factors of cosmetic information (p<0.05) and the factors of interest in cosmetics (p<0.01). 'Trouble-causing ingredients' showed a statistically significant difference in safety perception in all factors except cosmetic performance factors. Conclusion: There is a need to construct a system that allows consumers to easily purchase cosmetics that are necessary for their skin by schematically or simplifying the information on the usage period and trouble-causing ingredients after opening the cosmetics to be easily understood.

  • A study was undertaken to identify variations in the level of awareness, the information collection status, the level of acceptance, and the characteristics of information collection as it pertains to agricultural biotechnology based on information collection in the field of agricultural biotechnology. When examining subjective awareness, objective awareness, and interest in agricultural biotechnology, the results showed that the levels of all three variables were higher in cases where information exploration of agricultural biotechnology had been experienced. Among the participants who have experience in voluntarily collecting information about agricultural biotechnology, helpful information at a rate of 51.6% and harmful information at a rate of 42.0% were acquired, values much higher than the 37% and 30% corresponding rates for participants who had no experience. However, it was also found that harmful information has a significantly greater impact on perceptions of the future. The characteristics of information collection for agricultural biotechnology indicated that those with experience in voluntary information collection particularly preferred the Internet, whereas those without any experience showed little difference with regard to television and/or the internet. According to a survey of participants' interest areas in agricultural biotechnology and their level of information acquisition, "Safety of human bodies" was rated the top interest area at 36.9%, which also had the highest level of information acquisition at 30.0%. In providing and sharing information in the future, this is a direct reference to the priorities and proportions of each field.
