Online DCIR Estimation for Series-connected Battery Cells using Matrix-Switched Capacitor Converter

  • In the battery energy storage system, battery cells are connected in series to increase the operating voltage. Due to the difference in characteristics, the performance degradation of cells is dissimilar. This paper proposes an online DC internal impedance estimation for battery cells in the series string using a matrix-switched capacitor converter, which is already verified as useful for the series balancing of the cells. The simulation in the hardware in the loop test rig shows good accuracy and the feasibility of the proposed method.

  • The psychoacoustic quality of ABS is now considered more important than before as the focus of recent ABS function is expanded to basic function from typical emergency function. Thus, the automotive parts manufacturing companies are actively working to improve NVH (Noise, Vibration, and Harshness) in ABS module. In terms of time, test place, and cost, however, it is very inefficient to have all the operating noise validation test in real vehicle configuration especially for partially improved ABS module. To contribute to reducing the development period and to grasping the improvements faster, this research presents the study of a correlation to predict ABS operating noise inside vehicle via HILS rig test. The regression equation in this paper was statistically drawn from using Minitab S/W, and based on that equation, the noise spectrum of vehicle interior was analogized.

  • The tilt-rotor Smart UAV(Unmanned Air Vehicle) has been developed by KARI(Korea Aerospace Research Institute) for civil purposes. In order to prove the reliabilities of total system of Smart UAV, the series of ground tests were performed including system interface test, aircraft HILS(Hardware In the Loop Simulation) Test, ground power test, 4-DOF (Degrees of Freedom)rig test, and tethered hover test. Many unexpected problems occurred at each ground test. With clearing these problems, the total Smart UAV systems were matured and the airworthiness was proven enough. After complete of additional ground test proposed by FRRB(Flight Readiness Review Board), the first flight test will be performed in this year. This paper presents the procedures and the analysis results of the ground tests for the tilt-rotor Smart UAV.
