A complete potential profile of an electrical double layer is calculated from a distribution function of charged particles based upon a model where the effect of a charged electrode and the finite size of ion are explicitly included. Electrons which are distributed on the electrode surface are assumed not to penetrate the electrode/electrolyte boundary. Formation of the constant density regions and their effects on potential and the electrical double layer capacitances are studied in great detail. The distribution of surface electrons as well as the constant density regions are found to be essential in characterizing the electrical double layer. The introduction of the ion size into the prior electrical double layer model of an ideally polarizable electrode/point charged electrolyte system, shows a great improvement in its characteristics mostly at negative potential region.
The aim of this study is to understand the effect of structure on the dispersion of both CNT and GNF in the phase of synthesized polyurethanes matrix. Various CNT/PU and GNF/PU composite films were prepared. Polyurethane having a different hard segment was blended with both CNT and GNF. PU having HDI as hard segment showed good dispersion with both CNT and GNF because of their linear structural character and molecular kinesis while PU having aromatic ring showed poor dispersion with those due to their structural complexity. Structural effect also induced the increase of its electro conductivity. The PU/CNT composite showed a bad dispersion (because of phase separation between PU matrix and CNT) but good electro conductivity at its surface (because CNT was collected on the surface of composite film due to low density of CNT). PU/CNT and PU/GNF composite films have quite low normalized sheet resistance value compared with silver/PU nanocomposite film because the fiber type filler could have much more contact points than that of sphere shaped silver particles have.
We deal with a problem to determine experimentally as well as theoretically permeability of incompressible viscous flow through packed bed of bidisperse hard spheres in size. For the size ratios of large to small spheres ${\lambda}$=1.25 and 2, we set up bidisperse packing and measured porosity and permeability at various volumetric ratios of small to large spheres ${\gamma}$. Bidisperse packing shows lower porosity and permeability than monodisperse packing does. Variation of porosity as a function of ${\gamma}$ does not match with that of permeability. A theoretical expression for predicting permeability of a viscous flow for packed bed of bidisperse packing is derived based on calculation of drag force acting on each sphere and its predictions are compared with the experimental data and those from some relations previously suggested. It is found that our theory shows better agreement with experimental results than the previous studies and is proved to be quite simple and accurate in estimating the permeability.
Purpose Proton therapy can deliver an optimal dose to tumor while reducing unnecessary dose to normal tissue as compared the conventional photon therapy. As proton beams are irradiated into tissue, various positron emitters are produced via nuclear fragmentation reactions. These positron emitters could be used for the dose verification by using PET. However, the short half-life of the radioisotopes makes it hard to obtain the enough amounts of events. The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of off-line PET imaging scan time on the PET image quality. Materials and Methods The various diameters of spheres (D=37, 28, 22 mm) filled with distilled water were inserted in a 2001 IEC body phantom. Then proton beams (100 MU) were irradiated into the center of the each sphere using the wobbling technique with the gantry angle of $0^{\circ}$. The modulation widths of the spread out bragg peak were 16.4, 14.7 and 9.3 cm for the spheres of 37, 28 and 22 mm in diameters respectively. After 5 min of the proton irradiation, the PET images of the IEC body phantom were obtained for 50 min. The PET images with different time courses (0-10 min, 11-20 min, 21-30 min, 31-40 min and 41-50 min) were obtained by dividing the frame with a duration of 10 min. In order to evaluate the off-line PET image quality with the different time courses, the contrast-to-noise ratio (CNR) of the PET image calculated for each sphere. Results The CNRs of the sphere (D=37 mm) were 0.43, 0.42, 0.40, 0.31 and 0.21 for the time courses of 0-10 min, 11-20 min, 21-30 min, 31-40 min and 41-50 min respectively. The CNRs of the sphere (D=28 mm) were 0.36, 0.32, 0.27, 0.19 and 0.09 for the time courses of 0-10 min, 11-20 min, 21-30 min, 31-40 min and 41-50 min respectively. The CNR of 37 mm sphere was decreased rapidly after 30 min of the proton irradiation. In case of the spheres of 28 mm and 22 mm, the CNR was decreased drastically after 20 min of the irradiation. Conclusion The off-line PET imaging time is an important factor for the monitoring of the proton therapy. In case of the lesion diameter of 22 mm, the off-line PET image should be obtained within 25 min after the proton irradiation. When it comes to small size of tumor, the long PET imaging time will be beneficial for the proton therapy treatment monitoring.
Gallium doped zinc oxide(GZO) films were deposited on soda-lime glass substrates without substrate heating $(T_s<50^{\circ}C$) by dc planar magnetron sputtering using GZO ceramic oxide targe with different inert gas (Ar, or Ne). For the GZO films deposited under different total gas pressure $(P_{tot})$, structural and electrical properties were investigated by XRD and Hall effect measurements. Crystallinity of GZO films deposited using Ar was degraded with increase in $(P_{tot})$, suggesting that it was heavily affected by kinetic energy of sputtered Zn particles$(PA_{zn})$ arriving at substrate surface. Whereas, crystallinity of GZO films deposited at lower Ptot than 3.0 Pa using Ne gas was degraded with decrease in $(P_{tot})$. This degradation was considered to be result of film damage caused by the bombardment of high-energy neutrals ($Ne^{\circ}$). On the basis of a hard sphere collision processes, the average final energy of particles (sputtered Zn, $Ar^{\circ}$and $Ne^{\circ}$)arriving at substrate surface were estimated.
Colloidal coating solution was prepared to enhance the hydrophilic property of the film surface. Water and ethanol were used as the dispersion media and (glycidoxypropyl) trimethoxysilane (GPS) as a binder in the colloidal silica coatings. Ethylene diamine was added to the colloidal silica solution as the curing agent. The colloidal silica solution was regarded as a hard-sphere suspension model with low volume fraction of the silica particles. Rheological properties of the silica suspensions modified with GPS have been investigated as a function of pH and concentration. The acidic solution showed high viscosity change by fast hydrolysis reaction and adsorption of the organic binders on the surface of silica particles. However, the hydrolysis was slow at the basic condition and the binders combined with themselves by condensation. The viscosity change was smallest at pH 7. The viscosity increased with the curing time after adding ethylenediamine, and the increase of viscosity at low pH was higher than that at high pH. The hydrophilic properties of the coating film were investigated by the contact angle of water and film surface. The smallest contact angle was shown under the strong acidic condition of pH 2.
Two thermodynamic models were used to predict the partial molar volumes of solutes in supercritical carbon dioxide at infinite dilution: (1) the Peng-Robinson equation of state with various mixing rules including those based on $EOS/G^E$ (2) the Kirkwood Buff fluctuation integral with the hard sphere expansion (HSE) method. The Kirkwood-Buff fluctuation integral method, in which an equation of state for pure component and molecular parameters are required, produced better results especially near the critical point than the Peng-Robinson equation of state with the several mixing rules based an $EOS/G^E$. When the $EOS/G^E$ mixing rules were used, poorer results were obtained compared with the classical mixing rule and Kirkwood-Buff model.
The pumping characteristics of a disk-type drag pump (DTDP) from free molecular flow region to the slip flow region are calculated by the direct simulation Monte Carlo (DSMC) method. In this study, the pumping performance is studied numerically for several channel depths. The interaction between molecules is modeled by variable hard-sphere (VHS). The no time counter method is used as a collision sampling technique. The clearance between rotor and stator is considered an effect on performance. Spiral channels are cut on both upper and lower sides of rotating disks, and stationary disks are planar. A three-dimensional DSMC method for the analysis of steady rarefied flows in a single-stage DTDP has been developed. Velocity and density fields were obtained by the DSMC simulation in the rotor. The present experimental data in the outlet pressure range of $7.5{\times}10^{-3}{\sim}4$ Torr were compared with the DSMC results in the single-stage DTDP. Comparison between the experimental data and DSMC results showed good agreement.

Particle and noise are effectively used to implement unspecific VFX like an explosion, magic. Particle can create freely but, The more usage, the higher CPU/GPU usage. This paper using polygon mesh that is hard to change but consumes fixed resources to overcome the demerit of particle and reduce CPU/GPU usage. Also, using shader, apply noise texture that is suitable unspecific pattern to vertex and surface texture mapping of polygon mesh for implement VFX in unity. As a result of experiment, shader applied sphere polygon mesh show 2~4ms CPU, 1~2ms GPU usage in profiler. Also It has been shown that shader can be used to implement unspecific VFX.
