Fabrication of Multi-functional Self-Assembled Monolayers by Microcontact Printing and Their Application for Electronic and Biological Devices (미세접촉인쇄기법을 이용한 다기능성 자기조립막 제작과 전자.생물소자로의 응용)

  • In this work, we fabricated various 2D metallic and polymeric nanopatterns with the feature resolution of sub-micrometer scale by using the method of microcontact printing ($\mu$ P) based on soft lithography. Silicon masters for the micromolding were made by e-beam lithography. Composite poly(dimethylsiloxane) (PDMS) molds were composed of a thin, hard layer supported by soft PDMS layer. Finally, monodisperse metal or polymer particles could be obtained in the prepared pattern for the application of electronic devices.

  • Electrolytic In-process Dressing (ELID) technique for metal bonded diamond grinding wheel has been developed for mirror surface grinding of hard and brittle materials.   • This paper deals with determinig the proper friction welding condition and analyzing various mechanical properties of friction welded joints of sintered carbide tool materials(K20, P25, and SKDX5 for the blade part of drill or press punch) to alloy steel (SKH4, SCM440 for the shank part of drill or press punch), the alloy steel to aluminum(A6061 for the interlayer material between the blade part and the shank) and sintered carbide tool materials to alumminum. And also acoustic emission test will be carried out during fiction welding to evaluate the weld quality.

  • The there axis CNC grinding machine tool for ultra-precison mirror surface grinding of advanced materials such as ceramics and other hard and brittle materials was designed and manufactured. The grinding machine is composed of the air spindle, the high damping resin concrete bed, and the three axis CNC controller with the high resolution AC servo motor. To investigate the dynamic properties of the grinding machine, the natural frequencies of the spindle and the headstock were experimentally measured. The truing method using the break truer to revise the shape of the metal bonded diamond wheel was developed. Form the results of the machining using the prototype three axis CNC grinding machine manufactured, the mirror surface were achieved.

  • Loose Parts Monitoring System(LPMS) monitors loosened or detached parts and foreign parts inside the pressure boundary of a reactor coolant system (RCS). It is difficult to discriminate valid signal from LPMS alarms at full power since the signal pattern by thermal shocks and structure friction are similar to those by loose metal impacts. In addition, It is more difficult to discriminate the impact signals induced by the rod driving, sensor hard-line movement and loosened component since they have similar frequency characteristics with valid signals. This paper classifies the signal patterns by analyzing actual LPMS signal captured during nuclear power plant operation.

  • A manufacturing environment without a computerized system causes numerous problems, since many important decisions are made based on the experience of veteran staffs. Especially, when a strategy for the improvement of manufacturing efficiency is considered, it is hard to predict the effect of the strategy. A solution to the problem without large investment of the computerized system is the simulation study. This paper shows the modeling and simulation based on DEVS(Discrete Event System Specification). Two types of models are implemented, one for representing the current production strategy and the other for the new strategy. The new strategy is expressed as priority rules within the model. The process in concern is the metal grating production process in which the size of the group, for applying a specific cutting and scheduling strategies, is one of the important factors in improving the production efficiency. Some reliable criteria for the evaluation related to the production effeciency are established from the simulation study.

Effect of Microstructure on Corrosion Behavior of TiN Hard Coatings Produced by Two Grid-Attached Magnetron Sputtering

  • The introduction of two-grid inside a conventional process system produces a reactive coating deposition and increases metal ion ratio in the plasma, resulting in denser and smoother films. The corrosion behaviors of TiN coatings were investigated by electrochemical methods, such as potentiodynamic polarization test and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) in deaerated 3.5% NaCl solution. Electrochemical tests were used to evaluate the effect of microstructure on the corrosion behavior of TiN coatings exposed to a corrosive environment. The crystal structure of the coatings was examined by X-ray diffractometry (XRD) and the microstructure of the coatings was investigated by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and transmission electron spectroscopy (TEM). In the potentiodynamic polarization test and EIS measurement, the corrosion current density of TiN deposited by two grid-attached magnetron sputtering was lower than TiN deposited by conventional magnetron type and also presented higher Rct values during 240 h immersion time. It is attributed to the formation of a dense microstructure, which promotes the compactness of coatings and yields lower porosity.

  • [ $Mo_2FeB_2$ ] boride base cermets produced by a novel sintering technique, called reaction boronizing sintering through a liquid phase, have excellent mechanical properties and wear and corrosion-resistances. Hence, the cermets are applied to the injection molding die-casting machine parts and so on. We investigated that the effect of deoxidization and sintering temperature on mechanical properties and deformation of the MIM processed cermets. As a result, deoxidization temperature of 1323K and sintering temperature of 1518K were suitable. The MIM products of the cermets showed allowable dimensional accuracy and the same mechanical properties as the press-sintered ones.

  • This paper describes the characteristics of high speed grinding and the influence of wheel surface speed V and a grindability of the grinding materials. The various fine ceramics pieces was ground by metal and vitrified bonded diamond wheel. The surface roughness of fine ceramics(Zirconia($ZrO_2$), Silicon Carbide(SiC), Silicon Nitride($Si_3N_4$), Alumina($Al_2O_3$)) decreases from $0.05{\mu}m(R_{max})$ to $0.025{\mu}m(R_{max})$ when the wheel speed at grinding point increases the wheel speed. Relation between the temperature at grinding point and surface roughness was linear. Abrasive jet machining(AJM), a specialized from of shot blasting, is considered one of the most helpful micro machining methods for hard and brittle materials such as glasses and ceramics by constant pressure grinding.

  • To reach 100 Gbit/in$^2$ magnetic recording densities in hard disk drives specular enhancement of giant magnetoresistance (GMR) effect in spin valve (SV) films has become one of the indispensable means for application as read elements in recording heads [1]. More recently specular spin valve (SSV) structure containing nano-oxides layers (NOL) were reported [2], where MR enhancement is caused to extended mean free path of majority spin polarized electrons through specular reflection at metal/insulator interfaces [3] in the SV films.
